  1. I had a 7 hour stop over in Doha yesterday - so it was a perfect opportunity to visit Doha Quest and check off a couple of record breaking rides. Getting there The metro in Doha is great now thanks to the world cup! Unlimited travel for one day can be purchased at any station, and will set you back $2.56 (for 24hrs of unlimited travel). Travel to Msheireb (15 mins, 5 stops) then transfer to the gold line for one stop in the Al Aziziyah direction to Bin Mahmoud - from there it's a 5 minute walk to Doha Quest. Admission will set you back around $100 AUD (heavy). You can't bring any external food or drink inside, and there's no where to keep it during your stay - they'll "donate it to charity" General vibes Feels like any well themed indoor park, broken into several different themed areas, and a seperate kids section that jutts out away from the park. EpiQ Coaster Pretty much the reason I came here - it's the worlds tallest indoor coaster, and maybe the fastest reverse launch in the world. The station has heaps of free station storage (Which is double sided for the unload station) Once dispatched you do small flat section, across the switch track and into a themed section with projection on the roof. The backwards launch takes a little section to kick in, but when it does - it really does. This is definitely a back row ride, the twisting at the top of the spike is intense, and you don't get much in the front of the train. On the way down the LSM's actually brake to make the rest of the layout (a clone of Lost Gravity) IMG_0428.mov I ended up doing this 5 times - there was no lines and the ops were happy to let me stay on / switch seats between cycles without leaving the station. Magma Blast This is probably the best themed S&S drop tower on the planet. It's themed to some sorta mission to the centre of the earth or something.. the ride at ground level is surrounded by massive LED screens - which accurately tie in with the ride system - it's a shot them drop.. the drop is from the very top of the tower. Also it is *very* hot at the top of the ride.. the air con doesn't reach that far. One and done for that I also did their flying theatre.. which was exceptional.

  3. DW have cougars but I haven't seen DW bring them out for many years. Maybe somebody else has seen them out in the park and I have missed seeing them. @themagician I should clear this up more. The new exhibit is in front of the lair area and the tigers get to the new exhibit by a tiger walkway 3m above the ground.

  4. 💯 agree to this. While I haven’t been on Overboard at all ( I think it looks great!) I would add to this list Dark Ride at Launceston’s Penny Royal. i experienced this attraction in January with the family and we were all impressed with the theming, visual effects and it’s overall aesthetic. Certainly an enjoyable dark ride with a history slant and it featured good practical effects, great use of sound effects and some animatronics. It’s all Australian with an Australian theme. If you are down that way it’s certainly worth a look and a ride.

  5. If you visit Aus Zoo you’ll get a taste of what the new Tiger Presentations without interaction will be. Doesn’t compare with what the DW tiger show is now, but I guess they’re getting with the times… 🙄 Not sure if Aus Zoo are always doing this now or just for my visit, but essentially they’ll just scatter meat all around the empty enclosure, leave, and then let a tiger enter and walk around finding the food. If the Tiger wants to they’ll climb the pole for the food at the top, or jump in the water for the food on the end of bamboo hanging over the water. Meanwhile, a handler will stand out front giving the presentation. I wonder if this redevelopment will allow for more/better paid experiences like their Tiger feeds, or if that’ll be phased out too… DW don’t currently have cougars at all. They did have a couple late 90s to early 00s. That area is just a BOH yard and has kept the name “cougar yard”

  6. Are you still crying @DaptoFunlandGuy? Nobody comes here to see a grown man cry.

  7. The new thatched roof is within the lair area but there are changes for both the lair and kindy. This layout might clear it up for you. Part of the tender also includes refurbishment of the platform within the island so I would say the show is staying for the time being.

  10. I feel like River Town works will start soon and that this has an anaconda look to it hat would suit poking in and out of the water element of JR coaster potentially?
