  1. From a staff's point of view at DW, it would be very annoying trying to group 8 people, having a couple of people sayin 'i wanna go on the east side'. Very frustrating! At least with WL's space probe, its the same experience from each cabin... much more efficient if DL take out the small drop.
  2. Shifty, stop posting crap (unless you've got evidence)
  3. Take into account there are a lot of expenses involved when folding a company. Things like Wonderpass refunds and Staff Entitlements will cost $$$$$. GoBoi, then would you rather the park announce one day that they have officially closed - giving no notice to the staff or general public. Its a catch-22 situtation. Its just a shame that the public's perception of the park will change... I mean we can all agree that it is a different place to when it opened in 85
  4. Has anyone got any idea as to when Luna Park Sydney will be opening? I have heard numerous dates myself, ranging from March to late April. Can anyone offer any insight into this?
  5. Shifty, you seem to 'hear' a lot of things?? Are those voices in your head talking to you again??
  6. with those rides, the park wouldn't be small at all. There would also be issues with land at homebush. Those permanent fixtures would take up a considerable amount of land in an area used for the easter show - and take up valuable car parking spaces!! I think once the future of the brickpit is decided, the potential for a theme park is a possibility.
  7. Damn... coz i was planning to buy one of the gondola carriages as my new bird cage. Ahh well
  8. Former, why don't you leave that discussion to remain between you and Daniel. I am sure you would agree that this topic is 'Wonderland Sydney is closing' - not 'Daniel leaving WS' And before we speculate what will be of the former WS site, why dont we wait and see if the local council approves the re-zoning of the land, which it is yet to do. I wouldnt blame council for keeping the area Tourism/Recreation based due to exposure on the M4/M7.
  9. It really is great to see everyone on this forum supporting the staff (sarcasm)
  10. Have you seen the pumps that drive the fixed versions of the TRR/SRR? Sounds good in theory but in reality is unrealistic
  11. I think it would easily survive... A good idea would be to capitalise on the idea of a water-themed park with scuba-diving, parasailing, speedboats. A good mix of extreme adventures would distinguish it from the likes of WnW and the other parks. Just an idea.
  12. I think its far-fetched to ask who the best ride-ops are/were. I mean, if you bought terrible food from the park or were spoken to rudely by guest services staff it would have a serious impact in judging your opinion about ride operators. However, being a guest at WL, DW, and MW i found very enthusiastic staff at all three BUT found disinterested staff also (at all three parks)
  13. I agree with Wonderbus. There's no way a decision would have been made that long ago. By the way, Ex-Operator, were you that crazy train driver that worked at WL?
  14. Well the news is out and yes, Wonderland Sydney is closing. Guys seriously, instead of bickering over our personal situations in having no amusement park in the west to attend... our sympathy should be directed to those staff who are losing their jobs. To continue working in a park with the knowledge the park could close its doors the very next day (even though a date is set) is very daunting. I hope that the park does actually assist those employees to find new jobs. Realistically, WL is one of the major employers west of Parramatta. It actively participated in the local community and lived by the motto that 'You'll Always Remember'. That won't change. Again the new owner of the land cant be blamed... honestly, land on the corner of what will be Australia's largest road intersected (after the M7 connects with the M4) is very valuable land and any interested company would be stupid to oversee the benifets of great exposure. What happens with the rides doesn't really bother me. However the space probe tower has established itself as a Western Sydney landmark. My final contribution would be...... WOULDN'T IT BE WONDERFUL!?
  15. hey guys, These rumors surface EVERY year. Yet they're still taken seriously. Have we no other topic to all chat about?
  16. If you ask me, the ads look like an amateur did it. Did anyone else think the same?
  17. Speak for yourself Chippy. I for one don't correct people when they make mistakes. And if you can't write proper english than you don't have the right to correct other people. If you still don't understand, re-read your previous post
  18. you guys have got some good ideas and talent. just one piece of advice... if you live in Sydney or Melbourne, move up north!!
  19. Rappa, your stereotyping mate... I, for one have been to Oktoberfest at the Fairfield Showgrounds in Sydney and found theie operators to be very confident and precise in the work they did. Not all Carny operators are bad. Just those with an attitude of carelessness.
  20. Mate, if you don't have anything intelligent to say... then keep your trap shut! DON'T MAKE ME MAD!
