Bermuda Triangle is my favourite ride - I rode it for the 1st time in the late 2000's & it seemed like it operated as it did when it opened (based on people's descriptions who rode it in the mid-1990's). Unless my memory has made me forget, I didn't realise the twist that one of the recruiters was an alien - I was always confused as to why a human was in an alien world full of robots The only thing that I think didn't feature when I rode it but was there on opening day was the flame shooting out of the flume's exit out of the volcano (see photo from an archived SW website) - I was looking forward to the flame shooting 'out of the tunnel' as the 'research probe' went zooming past it. Can someone tell me if that featured when it opened in 1994?:

@Jordan M., I think they are complaining that your initial post was very vague - you don't write a topic title mentioning 'upcharge attraction' & have the 1st post not mention anything similar to that at all. It's like me writing a topic called 'New Sydney Theme Park Confirmed' and then posting 'Noticed some construction/earth works next to Wet 'n' Wild Sydney the other day in the space formerly occupied by some farms. Some shipping containers around too... I wonder what they have coming.'. There was no link to connect the 2 pieces of information together - the posts literally meant anything. And if the information is public, can you just show us or link us to it? @YLFATEEKS, I figured out the image you posted - why did you even post it in this topic though? Go-karts? Wouldn't that require permanent infrastructure?

Happy 35th Birthday Dreamworld
Jamberoo Fan replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That's what the photo description said on the Gold Coast City Council website. -
How do you know: Is it is a new attraction? If it is a new attraction, that it is an upcharge attraction? All I can tell from that is that they are digging there with some tyres laying about.

Happy 35th Birthday Dreamworld
Jamberoo Fan replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Happy 35th Birthday Dreamworld! That Facebook post by DW that @reanimated35 shared was very interesting: Despite opening a year later, Thunderbolt & the surrounding Country Fair must have been planned to open on opening day as that park map of DW was published in the Gold Coast Bulletin on opening day exactly 35 years ago. The area we consider Main Street was originally called Plaza with Main Street being the bit between Plaza & Country Fair (current day area between Top Spin & the Main Street Fountain). Kelly's Shooting Gallery (known for being in Town Of Gold Rush) was originally in Gum Tree Gully. The island's original name was Castaway Island. An art gallery originally featured near the Ice Cream Parlour. The Fairytale Treasures was not there on opening day - instead it was White House Souvenirs. The Bumper Cars were originally located in front of Thunderbolt. A helipad existed originally where Town Of Gold Rush stands. An 'Indian Camp' existed near where Dreamworld Woolshed now stands - the purpose of the Indian Camp? It wasn't for the Captain Sturt Paddle Steamer, you'll find out in the article I've posted below. If anyone wants a more high-resolution look at that newspaper feature that DW posted, click here. It's nice to have an opening day park map that clearly states every single ride, attraction, shop, amenity etc. This photo from Gold Coast City Council shows Rix family members on the Captain Sturt Paddle Wheeler at DW's official opening (Norm Rix - furthest family member on the right - was the Gold Coast City Council Alderman for Ward 2 at the time) This article from The Australian Woman's Weekly archived on the National Library Of Australia's Trove service was published approximately 2 months prior to opening: The last sentence of the above article is the most important sentence in the whole article. -
This true information.

FlowRider was taken off the maintenance webpage suddenly on Monday I think. Looking back on historical sources, @joz is correct on all of them but I should point out that Sea Viper's permanent closure was announced on the 17th of July 2014 with it's removal beginning 12 days later on the 29th of July 2014 so @AlexB is correct on his initial point that Sea Viper was quickly removed after it's permanent closure was announced. Also, I should point out that Sky High Skyway had it's removal begin weeks before it's permanent closure was confirmed too but like DW, it's support towers/stations still stand. If Viking's Revenge is like Sea Viper, it's removal would begin on the 22nd of December but given the holiday period & the complexity in removing it, it probably will still be SBNO until at least after the summer holidays.

I'm not sure if this has been built anywhere in the world but I found this recently from Dynamic Attractions - their SFX Coaster.

It would match what they did for SE if that ended up as the case - SE was first formally announced to the media in a media call about massive expansions at all VRTPs. That media call happened in mid-September 2005. In my guess timetable, I've put it as early June 2017 but I've also put construction fencing marketing being added in early March 2017 too.

Some interesting quotes from news.com.au: Does anyone know if that attendance figure is for DW-only or DW & Whitewater World? -
Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Jamberoo Fan replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I know but I've never seen what it would look like back pre-1986 from the point of view of the walkway between Rocky Hollow & Central Park Station. For all I know, they may have hidden it with trees along that walkway until Eureka Mountain was built. As I've only ever seen it covered by Eureka Mountain as a means of hiding it, that's why I would find it odd - I expect some sort of theming to replace Eureka Mountain when it's demolished. -

I agree & I did say I think the mountain/ride is guaranteed demolition now. I did speculate them re-building the mountain/ride though. -

I just would find it odd if the Dreamworld Cinema had all it's exterior walls themed except the huge white back exterior wall. -

Well unless they decide to re-theme Town Of Gold Rush, I think it is possible. They could even include a different type of attraction in a new mountain. Either way, something interesting has to hide the huge white back exterior wall of the Dreamworld Cinema. -

About 4000 is very good if their daily average attendance is about 6000 (or less if I could somehow exclude SkyPoint's daily average attendance to that figure). I know there are variations in attendances due to holidays & weather etc. (like you said 12,000 is a very good day) but if they just follow the average until Boxing Day, that would be good for DW. -
DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Tallest full-circuit rollercoaster in Australia? But seriously, my current guess for the hypercoaster's length is 1.9km. -
I think this is the case - 7 News has been the only news outlet I've seen report it & the media have been keeping an eye on these forums lately. Unless someone can show that other media outlets received the same statement at the same time 7 News got it, that's what I think is the case. No, it doesn't:

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

I'm going to say DW might still have plans for a new Eureka Mountain Mine Ride but the original ride & mountain theming as it is will be demolished when Thunder River Rapids is removed. -
Revised Dreamworld Map - no Rocky Hollow Log Ride
Jamberoo Fan replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
In the 90cm section, it says: There is more text at the 80cm section but it is too small to read. Given it is a rather 'permanent' sign, I now gather Rocky Hollow Log Ride is going to be closed for a lengthy period of time (at least until after the summer holidays) - but I'm still not going to rule it out as permanently closed just yet. -

There was a waterfall near the Billabong Buffet Restaurant railway station. I don't know if it still operates but wouldn't that have the same purpose as the Rocky Hollow fountain? If it doesn't operate, maybe time to turn it back on? -

Can Dreamworld ever FULLY recover?
Jamberoo Fan replied to SunshineTom's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Remember: DW & Whitewater World are now combined so posting separate attendances makes no difference. It only shows which park people preferred entering first, which prior to 11:30am was DW. 10 days notice of re-opening isn't exactly enough time to allow interstate & international visitors to prepare a DW visit - it is enough time for locals though who probably are regular visitors to the park & make up a bulk of their visitation. DW CEO stated he didn't know what to expect. So they weren't making any expectations or having any anticipations. To answer your question though, I think DW will most likely recover and 2000 people today I think is pretty good considering how much wasn't opened. The true test will be post-Boxing Day & when everything (minus Thunder River Rapids) has opened. -
2019 may seem a while but remember, there already is 'an exciting new attraction' coming to Sea World Resort's former Water Park area. The vacant & re-claimed land near the former location of Sea Viper & Pirate Ship is still to be utilised too. It could be a 3 stage plan - one new attraction in each location per year culminating in Viking Revenge's replacement. I disagree. Why would they have scheduled a 5 month maintenance period for it next year otherwise? The decision was probably made suddenly in the past few weeks. Given how complex the ride's removal looks to be, it's plenty of time to allow the removal to be done carefully but like I said above, we could see a couple of new attractions being installed in other locations prior to 2019. Just wait & see - after recent years of development including Nickelodeon Land - a multi-million dollar redevelopment involving new rides - & COTD last year as well as Storm Coaster & Seal Harbour in 2013, maybe SW just wasn't ready to commit financially to new projects yet & now that time to commit has arrived?

Revised Dreamworld Map - no Rocky Hollow Log Ride
Jamberoo Fan replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Given it's the same fencing as around Thunder River Rapids, maybe (like others have suggested) DW just put it up to ensure no one gets confused between the 2 rides?
