  1. I mean, it'd been SBNO for like 2.5 years at this point with no evidence of work going on. We're planning on a Japan trip this year, and looking at the situation, my wife who is very much not an enthusiast called it wouldn't be reopening.
  2. Not to mention, didn't the whole track come down, and go back up at WNW after a repaint not long before they moved it? Then they took it down and repainted into flash colours before going up at MW? Would have thought they'd have checked \ tested the track then too, so they'd have a good idea of the current condition.
  3. Don't forget, this is a relaunch of an existing attraction. Minimum Viable Product: The Ride, Next Generation.
  4. Shazam doesn't pick anything else up, though it has mistaken 1 or 2 of the other tracks for something else which i've listened to separately and confirmed it got it wrong. TBH i'm surprised the Mark Petrie track was so easily identified.
  5. all the design team are working on WOZ so this got farmed off to the work experience kid.
  6. The worst of all of that is this - please tell me this isn't an electrical connection that's been taped together and just left for so long even the electrical tape has perished? As far as i'm concerned - you can't pin all this on BGH. They might be slashing budgets, but a lot of the same people are still in the same roles and these images just show a lack of attention to detail all round. the cables strung all over the place - sure they might be temporary, but there's no excuse to leave them dangling over scooby, or hung up on the awning supports over the old photo centre. FFS tech services needs to take more pride in their work in that regard. I'll give things like the ground speakers a pass because that's budgetary and if theres no budget you can't replace things that are broken - but fixes like speedy's - this cable is a joke - someone has set up a catenary to go over the ride path, presumably to charge the ever aging old batteries in Speedy's - but why? and why isn't it run through a conduit? what happened to the previously installed power? Did they dig it up to install Marvin?
  7. It's almost like you don't know Gazza at all, and even at a guess based on his travel blogs here, i'd be quite sure he's got it already.
  8. Ironically the web page still posts as 'street food festival' so they've only changed the words on the page, not the page title. And yep - all the offerings are from in-house venues, no externals are coming in for this one. Might as well have emailed everyone and said "come to the park to buy food from the same places you always have! There's nothing new to see here!"
  9. I think you're reaching. Don't misunderstand my comment - i'm surprised we haven't heard about it until now, not how fast they've built it. This isn't something they've gotten done in a couple of weeks. Construction work has to have been going for quite some time to reach the stage they're at (probably since the thaw - maybe 6 months ago?) plus they're in their off season too. Unfortunately nearmap doesn't cover thredbo village so its not something we can step back and look at.
  10. Nope. no benefit of the doubt. Why? Because the shipping container village is already bigger than the shed they've built. The coolrooms alone are as big, and as we've heard, they still need maintenance facilities. this shed is maintenance. nothign else. the storage will stay where it is, at least for now.
  11. That's just it though isn't it. This past weekend illustrated that they've stopped giving a shit. Replying to people and saying the equivalent of "you should have checked the website before you visited, so it's your fault, LOL" is really really bad form. And social media comments this week has revealed just how many people were still unaware scooby was down for several years - even more than a year after it originally closed. The ride is a fan and family favourite. They could have closed it, knocked it down and put up another DC attraction, or an upcharge, but instead they've decided to invest in it's future properly by taking the hard decision to close it down for several years and fix everything - which is a bold decision after the time it spent in next generation limbo. They should be proud that they're doing this - refurbing a classic instead of gutting it as a place to store more parade floats - and they should be doing everything within reason to ensure guests are aware of it... rather than burying it at the bottom, hoping people don't notice it and still decide to visit because if they don't notice, and pay to enter, they've already got your money, and if they profited off you, they don't care how you feel because people still keep coming. but the tide is changing.
  12. I'm honestly amazed that construction is this far along and we only just started talking about it this week...
  13. That passive agressive reply is something else. Pointing at the website when even it is misleading (eg: Scooby is no longer in the main maintenance group and you have to scroll to the bottom to see the news. There are so many comments on socials this week from people who have a trip booked and are only just now discovering Scooby will be closed. Even if intending guests check the website - Scooby doesn't appear in the maintenance sections, and it definitely looks like they're trying to hide it by putting it at the bottom. IMO, it should be at the top, since its a family favourite.
  14. While they may need proximity to the wooden coaster (which I doubt considering the Wonderland maintenance facility was a 2 minute drive to Bush Beast and a 12 minute drive to Beastie), my biggest objection is the giant shipping container city that's in between the red and blue areas in the above reply. Several of those containers appear to be refrigerated, so I assume its F&B storage. Non refrigerated containers are also there which could literally be anything - but there's zero need for this to be occupying prime on-stage real estate. They already took up a significant part of the carpark for the Helicopter facility - if storage was needed it could easily have done similarly.
  15. Agree - can confirm. low crowds, though we did leave not long past 5 - maybe people came in later?
  16. This is entirely reactive to the poor sentiments they've received across the board recently, and it is absolutely pathetic. Whoever authorised this message needs to be fired. Right the fuck now. They need to read the room. ^and THIS - fuck me they don't just need to be fired, they need to be blackballed from the theme park industry. These people have no idea what the fuck they're doing. I saw a reply to this on one of their posts and it's 100% right - they're showing absolute contempt for their guests. Don't want to derail this thread off this amusing Village bashing, but a few quick points that could have easily been googled (these dates sourced from either Wikipedia or WonderlandHistory.net : Wildlife park opened in 1990. Demon opened in ~1992 (old expo '88 Titan) Fred Flintstone's Splashdown opened in 1993 Space probe opened in November 1995 Skyrider went in in 1997 (old moore park cable car) You're 100%. They should be in damage control, not making excuses. The tide is turning.
  17. I'll dispute this one. I thought night markets were great on at least 5-6 previous visits, however I hadn't had a chance to visit in quite a few months. I visited a week or two ago, and the options for food were extraordinarily limited. After walking from Barrels to the Flyer, you could say we were underwhelmed. We had stopped in the middle of main street to discuss options, when one staff member encouraged us to head towards the dodgems for more food options (which we had already seen). When we mentioned there wasn't much to choose from, the staff did agree that outside school holidays its been hard to get the selection of vendors in they've had previously. Flyer has also reduced the capacity of the main area where food vendors could set up. While I had originally thought Flyer would be a boon for night market, it felt like the opposite. With the usual Bubbo desserts, and about 5 food vans well spread out across the length of ocean parade and main street, it was difficult to find one outlet that offered something for everyone in our party of 8. We left the park at 5:15 and took the kids to McDonald's.
  18. Ahhh the age old question. And one that should have been known to you well enough, if you judge all of those who responded to you above this reply... So you've made a comparison between a defunct park and a currently struggling one, and presumed they're the same based on what... that poor management can be the only reason for park failure? I'm curious as to how old you were when Wonderland closed TWENTY YEARS AGO next month, so that I can fully judge your views on this point...?
  19. That's funny. I worked there in the early 2000's, and I cannot think of a time where 'every dry adult ride in the park' was closed - unless it was during an electrical storm... Wonderland's management toward the end was pretty poor - but they never got this low.
  20. Why do you insist on gatekeeping this shit. If you have it, just post it.
  21. Nope. The concept very clearly shows a new wave pool, complete with waves originating at the 'deep end' in an orientation that cannot be mistaken for the current pool.
  22. Not unless it's Taylor Swift related. (I think I was right about their social team going to sydney though - spotted one of the guys that's in a lot of their videos posting attendance at Accor stadium over multiple days last week - though i'm sure they've got other people working on their content, it made me laugh a bit) Honestly a missed opportunity though. P!nk just completed a bunch of concerts in QLD. Would have made more sense to try and attract them to visit - especially with their two kids on tour - than to try and get TS to travel interstate.
  23. The website continues to list it as being a 2025 debut, but they've never had a specific date or even season (at least, not since they initially said it would return in 2024). What is interesting is that this comment makes clear the actual track is end of life, whereas previously, only 'upgrades' were mentioned to include new magnetic brakes, "partial" track replacement, and car and lift components replaced. This sounds less like upgrades and refurbs, and more like an entire outright replacement.
