Let's not forget the lurid scenes in "The Rescuers" along with many other stories you can find out in mouse tales, or the hidden mickeys site. Hell, Walt even spotted nudie scenes in one of their animations. Even though this little Splash debate has gone on for a few posts now, the person It had originally been directed at has remained silent on the issue - Gazza - does it seem like it might have had a story that you just overlooked, now i've gone into a bit more detail about it? I think the test track would be an awesome addition, especially since they spent a whole heap of money perfecting the technology (esp. the tyres), so it should be a relatively low-cost addition, unlike the prototype costs.

Sorry Richard, but having never been to WDW myself, and having only seen Songs of the South AFTER I had first ridden it, I have to say that the storyline itself makes perfect sense - and, as Nev put it, it is the same in any Disney storyline. The point is that for splash mountain, you have to LISTEN as well as LOOK. Unlike Small World, the storyline isn't just visible, and the music isn't just repetitive background dabble to join each room together. The storyline is as much in the lyrics of the songs as they are the animatronics. The lyrics of the songs in the ride itself differ slightly from the versions found within Songs of the South. There are even songs added to the ride that were not contained in the movie. The story of Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox also existed outside of Songs of the South too. Here are some excerpts from the "ride" version of lyrics... Now it's been a while since I rode splash, so I might be a little out of sequence, and theres some songs \ lyrics missing out of the middle, but as you can see by the lyrics themselves, the storyline is there for all to see and hear, if only one is paying a little attention. Lyrics, and their original "movie" counterparts, are available here

It might help to bring the yellow square back a little bit. The park's entrance is very much left of centre, but you won't fit lethal and WWF if you put it that far over. Remember Lethal is back and left of superman, and WWF is further back, and further left of that.

Sorry Gazza, but did you just say that Splash mountain did not have a story that could be followed? I think if you'd seen the movie, you'd follow it much better. Remember when the original attraction, where most of the animatronics came from was built - that the story would have been well known then... a similar storyline follows through into splash mountain, its just nobody understands it - because they're not looking at Mickey or Indiana... characters people know very well, but rather at characters out of a long-gone era that they are quite ignorant to. I followed it quite well when I rode it in 1996, but for those after more info, see this link

It would be cheaper just to have a little shuttle bus of some description - like Disney used to do with the trams - of course, Dreamworld would only need to put it on for a few weeks in the year, so the cost of building a "Second" gate is not only unjustifiable, but the idea is just plain ridiculous.

Unique Underwater Project.
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Habitat Waterford's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Erm... that was me. And my main point with that was that it's already been seen - now in "draft" format, which was hardly impressive, but don't get me wrong, look the concept is great, I think an even better one would be one that could accomodate large volumes - a real working study \ living centre, with a "through the looking glass" tour area attached to view the "public areas" as well as public living areas of the underwater habitat. Hell, I'd stick my hand up to go live down there for a couple months - OMG - Think of the Big Brother possibilities! ( ) I just don't see it being right in a theme park, even if it is a marine theme park. But a fit for one person cannot justify the real estate on the spit. This would be something more suited to up *near* (not on) the reef. -
I am really getting over these god damn giant wheels going up everywhere... sure it has tourist potential - but jeez... it's going to be like the hard rock cafe - one in every major tourist area, and you have to buy a t-shirt from each one to show where you've been... Can't these bozos in city planning come up with a UNIQUE idea?

Laser Skirmish costs are fairly minimal. You need to build an indoor maze (and we all know how much the "maze" cost to build in various theme park simulations). Fit it out with UV lighting and fluro paint jobs, add a little smoke (that'll get cut after the opening week), and buy your guns and sensors. A mate of mine actually owns a laser skirmish centre. If you're pretty good with wiring and electronics, the initial outlay on computer equipment is really all you need. Hell - there are some that still run their entire system on an old 486SX computer - with serial port connections to the various powerports \ bases \ bombs etc. Depending on the number of guns and receiving sensors (usually vests) the whole cost to startup is quite minimal. Maybe if they get Army Reserve or something to sponsor, like they got V8 Supercars and Bigpond, they won't have to pay anything for this one either!

Thankyou Mr. Oscar Wilde - however, if we always expect the unexpected, nothing is unexpected, and it cannot be expected to expect the unexpected if the unexpected is expected, thereby making all unexpected expectations expected. -
How about you just ask them nicely? Surely if you ask them nicely, they will let you on the rotor, and you won't need to ride it defiantly... Or did you mean "definitely" - meaning you surely will, as opposed to defiantly, where you are doing it despite being told not to...?

Why is that Don? If I don't have to pay for it - i'll take it off their hands... why wouldn't they have to buy it "techniquly"? (Technically)??? -

the plans did show some "dry amusements" but the more i think on it the more I realise that Village aren't going to spend millions on an entirely new park, and keep the junkie old attractions to the side - it has some sentimental value for those that have been before - but it would be like keeping the bush beast in between the LG warehouse and the woolworths one.No... out with the old, and in with the new... -

Just on this thread - I happened to visit Aussie World recently. Couple of things I thought worth a mention, and when i get them uploaded, a few pictures of things I think other parks could adopt for some cheap, but great fun. First of all, It seems obvious the current owners have frozen all non-essential maintenance while this WnW thing is pending. The Rock N Roll Rebel (which was my favourite ride last time) has fallen into disrepair- only half the speakers are working, which resulted in a very directional and low-impact sound. The room was STINKING hot, and was not an enjoyable ride. It seems all the staff in the park knew a fair bit about the pending WnW development, and apparently they held an information day for people to come and look around and suss out the plans VRTP have. I also found out that all the rides will be disposed of. None will be kept on by WnW if the park is approved. So theres a cheap wildmouse, and a lot of other really good quality rides available for next to nix. (Clint - I reckon get your dibs in for rock n roll rebel - the lighting effects in there are cheaper models, but still very very good - if not for AOS then your own personal uses! ((or let me know and i'll put in a bid))). The staff are (for the most part) still really happy to be there, and offer a level of interaction not seen at the big parks, and I thank all the staff there for an enjoyable day, including the guy on Water Wars that would have gotten decked if he wet my camera gear. Which brings me to my next comment - a new addition there since last time I went was Water Wars. I have pictures to give an idea, but essentially, it is an upcharge attraction, that would cost very little to establish, and cost very little to run. I know what everyone's views are on upcharge (I don't like them either) but the price charged was very reasonable, and a lot of fun on a hot queensland day - Basically you have an arena about 10 metres long - two people on each side, each person has a bucket of water bombs, and a giant slingshot \ catapult style device (see pics when i upload them). You get a quick brief by the staff member, and then fire away - a great way to have fun with friends in an interactive setting, and on a hot day, a great way to cool down - especially if you're not at a waterpark. -

From what I understand - you were working on the other side (Wondoola) but I did get to meet your girl... -
Well, for a "trial" this is the second or third year that they've used these exact same boards - are they just hauling them out for peak season? We've also heard talk of the electronic wait boards a year or two ago as well, so its nothing new, and why bother spending all this money on electronic stuff, if the crowds love the magnet boards? no additional costs - why not stick with the cheaper one that you know works? Also Lefty, I think it might be helpful for you to check out the community guidelines - specifically Sorry if I've gotten any mod's backs up, but I hit report about 2 days ago and nothing happened.

Warning Warning Warning
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The capacity limits were well known and publicised when the park opened. It is to be expected during peak season that it's going to hit capacity, and to get there very early. What time did you arrive at the gates skeet? -
Well then - Damn you Gazza!!!.... sorry joz... hehehe. kind of slow on the uptake there...

Ok - who moved it that quick - I was busy searching forums for the link to this thread, and by the time I found it - the new thread was gone - I'm guessing Joz, because i've seen you on earlier this evening - so Damn You Joz!!!

Hollywood Stuntdriver Update Thread
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to BNErider's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Nathan, Mate, you don't need to go jumping down Clint's throat. Along with Joz, he oversees the community to make sure that the Parkz site, and WVTP can have a pleasant relationship. Your post stated "i took these at work from the tech booth". You didn't say you were on a break, and you didn't say you had permission. I know you know your contract, and I know the particularly good reason WHY you know your contract so well, but it can be VERY helpful to all concerned if you would post those specifics - such as "on a break" and "with permission" in the first place so that the powers that be know that it is ok. You were not around when WVTP got all online sites to pull EVERY image of their parks and trademarks and insisted that each one undergo "approval" by WV. It took a while for Parkz (R-C.com.au then) To re-establish such a good rapport and relationship with WVTP and it is only with their continued help and support, as well as the assistance of Rappa, Joz, Rabid etc that we continue this way. In future, may I suggest a response along the lines of "sorry clint, I meant that I took them at work while I was on a break, and my supervisor said it would be ok to take it from the tech booth" instead of jumping down the throat of the very person whose job it is on these forums to ensure all guidelines (both within the forum community, and that set by Warner Village) are adhered to. Mate you've provided some very helpful information, and some good pictures, but you need to adjust your attitude and realise that these guys are only trying to help... Anyone with "Community Leader" or "Site Leader" or "Admin" should be treated on these forums like your supervisor at work. If you treated your supervisor like you did these guys, you wouldn't have a job for long, no matter what "special connection" you have at the park. Now you know me, and you know what I'm like - so don't take this as a put down - just friendly advice, and remember: -
