See I really don't get it - here we have graphics the equivalent of Warcraft 1 (no younglings - not World of Warcraft - Warcraft released 1994). Surely No Limits, or RCT3 shits all over this... and if so - where is the attraction in using something not even built for purpose?

Action Park New Jersey- The Most Insane Theme Park Ever?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It is - or rather it was. From the news article I read yesterday, it operated for about a month. Too many people were injured. I'm quite curious over how they evacuated the slide in case of rollback. It doesn't look like there is a door in the valley. Perhaps they lowered a rope? lol. -
I would like to see Dreamworld do something really unique, but i don't think this is a fair comment. There are MANY examples of rides in parks that are both travelling fairground and park-permanent models. Spooty spin avalanche... Tasmanian Devil (wonderland) vs. Thunderbolt Alpine Bobs... Waveswingers... Topspins... they did a great job with Wipeout... wait and see how they do it first...

Were they the ones with two heads? lol. How did you know they were all Victorian? (i'm not doubting what you're saying - just curious how you knew?)

Nice shots! I'll see if i can put the old logo up against the new one for a comparison... The ocean parade one looks like it's had a paint, but doesn't look 'new'... With the 'Big 9' do we have a 'site shot' to show this slab in relation to the rest of the site - ie: does the footer give us an idea of what ride it will be? With the movie - looks like it might be the new 'how to train your dragon 2' ?

I'm inclined to think they would have made a little money out of the wet n wild deal - VRTP would have paid the owners a fee to have the 'option' to buy, conditional on the approvals. Pretty sure the AW owners get to keep that fee if the deal falls through (which it did) so it might have made a nice little capital injection for them, for really not much effort. (this is all speculation on my part - I have no insider knowledge of this arrangement). I'd like to think of AW at the moment as a very very long freight train. At the start, the loco pulls against all the carriages without much effect, but now that they're starting to build up a little steam and a little momentum, it's just going to result in exponential growth. Maybe the Sunshine coast needs a few extra parks to compete with the gold coast?

To be fair the camera is mounted right at the front (and it appears to be mounted high up too) so it probably is missing all the spray that will get you in the face. We need a shot with a wide angle lens so you can really see the depth of the drop. The sides of the slide here are too high to really give a full impression of the scale of this ride... or the speed.

Yup. It's getting to the point that it's actually shorter waiting times between Xmas and NYE because they have maxed staffing and all rides up. VIP expiry time is low season, and they're not catering to the demand despite several years telling them they need to.

Illusiorium... I'm pretty certain Tony is out of the 'in-house magic show' game - but it would be awesome if these guys brought in a resident illusion show, similar to millennium magic spellbinding sorcery, with all the trimmings.

Aussie World to host night time Halloween event in 2014

This is a big step up for such a little park and really shows they want to play with the big boys. With the rumored new rides on the way (as well as the ones we already know about) AW is well on it's way to becoming an awesome (not so) little park. I think they're still a while away from anything like Abyss, but I don't think it'll take that long. -
^See - i continuously see that as a missed opportunity. They go to such efforts to apply a consistent effort across the entire park - but no attempt is made to do an overlay on Scoob... or SE. I can't off the top of my head think of anything specific.... they could for example have a three-headed carnivale jester head pop out of the box instead of the wolfman in the 'ghost train' section of scooby... Just a little touch or two here and there to make it 'something different' so people will want to ride it. This is not to say that everything they have done isn't already spectacular... but for the reasons you've said - why would you want to ride soemthing where you can get the exact same experience any other day of the week?

*Groan* Why do people feel compelled to use filters on everything? It's not the edit that you did... it's the edit that instagram did... #justsayin

Asshoke... That's a Donkep of a word.

To me, it looks like whilst they were working on the 'waves' on top of the gondola, they broke the two end pieces, so they've just decided to leave those two bits off. I don't think they're going to change the colour of the logo. Why would they bring it back, after being gone so long, without painting the logo? Wouldn't it have been easier for the logo to be done before they refitted all the 'apolstery' ? (upholstery)

Is that likely to happen regularly - say as in every year when your age changes? It's better to go with something that doesn't change. Admin Mods can arrange to change your user id. They'd prefer do that than have you create multiple accounts. It used to be clearly articulated in the community guidelines, but i've long since given up on that.

How did you like dining in such picturesque woodland settings (ie: 'picnic area over former topple tower ride platform')?
-
^That's amazing Mickey! Do you mean to tell me that you don't rely on one single facebook fansite page to provide you with quality and reliable park information? Unbelievable!
-
^I can agree with that. The other attractions really weren't necessary, but they were a nice additional touch.

*facepalm

Ok - I wasn't sure if Ollivander's remained in Hogsmeade, but the show experience is an upgrade, in a new location - so really they've done the equivalent of 'adding a second train' so to speak - they've just improved the capacity of the attraction (although split across two different park locations.) As for the interactive wand, AFAIK, the original ollivander's gave guests the opportunity to have a wand 'choose them' and they could buy a (non-RFID) wand. The ability to now buy an RFID enabled wand that interacts with you within the park is certainly a step up, but it is certainly an UPGRADE to an existing experience. I'm not knocking it - i think everything they've done here is fantastic, and a lot of work has gone into it - but to look at it objectively and switch off the HP fanboy inside me - It would have been nice to see them fit in more than one ride.
