  1. With the height available, you could put in a relatively lengthy kiddie coaster (suitable for adults to ride) above ground level and have it duck and dive all over the building. Numerous flats distributed around with some kiddie only and some 'family friendly'. You only have to take a look at the park when it rains to know that everyone heads for main street or scooby doo (JL3d is a little too far out of the way). If they did this, there'd be an 'indoor' area to ride in the bad weather - and as has been suggested - with some food options thrown in you could keep the family captive and spending for some time... sadly i don't think it will happen, but it's a brilliant idea.
  2. Given Thunderbolt's ride envelope extended to the carpark boundary fence, and the subsequent construction of the Cyclone was inside that boundary, as you can see below, Cyclone was within the same envelope. They may not have crossed tracks, but 'thunderbolt land' was taken up by Cyclone.
  3. ^i wouldn't. personally i think it's a much better use of space (and people eater) as an indoor 'land' with numerous little flats.
  4. The space from Thunderbolt was long since taken over by Cyclone and WhiteWaterWorld. The last time we'd heard about Vortex, it was sitting in pieces in storage out the back behind Tiger Island White Water World maintenance bay.
  5. Many of us have said this - or at least 'free for a period' like Universal do in many places... but the parks obviously don't want to give up the revenue, so at the very least - making it more convenient (with apps etc) would at least reduce the pain associated with them...
  6. Quoted for those unable to stay within topic.
  7. You read the part where I said 'leave your phone in the locker, unlock it with a pin code'... right? Edit: lol to the fluffy fluffy bunny... but to be fair - American parks (hell most parks overseas) handle lockers FAR better than we do.
  8. i'll be sure and mention that in the thread related to Dreamworld Maintenance, once i've finished posting in a topic for a Lego Ride at a "COMPLETLEY" different park.
  9. Storm has a debut at 194... thats not bad considering the number of people that would have gotten to ride it. Need to wait until TPR comes down under again...
  10. How about an app? You login to the app (before arrival at the park), 'purchase' a locker package, enter a pin code (on your phone) and go to any of the locker stations - scan the barcode on your phone (it is possible - i use my phone screen with the themeparks.com.au app to enter the parks - i don't have a paper pass anymore), and it opens a locker. You then secure your phone and belongings in the locker. On return - you simply enter the pin code and locker number and the locker is unlocked. Because the barcode is generated on your phone, you can carry it around with you to any locker station
  11. having had a closer look at my photos, the hole in the wall is new Certainly a lot of the lot sale items have been cleared out - it still looks as though some of the christmas floats are in there (see big white mountain thing that looks something like a snowy hilltop). I'm willing to concede they've changed gears here and have actually started moving on something. With the fencing being as it is though - i'm still unsure whether the plans at this stage are for the whole building as it still looks like hte other half is being utilised for storage (although more movements may be yet to come). When I last saw the inside of the building, the floor in the 'empty space area' still had a giant hole in the concrete about where one of the water troughs would have been on LTRR. I do not see that hole here now - so it seems they have sneakily begun to work on River Ride at last. Hopefully it is something other than Mini Cars.
  12. Such Idea.... Much Original... Very Unique.... WOW Wait - of course your suggestion was different - you wanted them to work at all parks.... of course.
  13. Until one of our friendly internals points us to something going on, i'm going to safely assume that NOTHING has changed.
  14. I know it's semantics, and i'm not disputing that Wipeout is one of the best attractions in the park - hence why we're seeing them go through extensive refurbishment after 21 years in operation to keep the old girl going. I'd pretty much put them in the same order as Rappa has above. My point is 'flagship' to describe it is inappropriate as the term is singular- chief primary principal most important one ...and this from macquarie dictionary: In my opinion, ToT would be dreamworld's "flagship' attraction - it spans across almost the entire width of the park, you can see AND hear it from almost anywhere nearby, and has been used in many promotional items as their feature, main or signature attraction - for example - how the big brother credits rolled with the ToT car going up the tower. I'd call Wipeout a 'featured' attraction, a top 5 (or top 8 or big 8). It certainly is one of their best attractions, but not THE best. You cannot use the word 'Flagship' if you put 'one of their' in front - there cannot be more than one.
  15. i get the intention behind the statement, but the term is singular - meant to imply the best, or most important... not 'the 8 best'
  16. So a 21 year old top spin is a flagship attraction at the park.... So Wipeout is their primary ride? Sounds about right.
  17. God I miss the sarcasm tags. Some people are just born without their sarcasm detector switched on.
  18. the major difference that stands out to me (considering it's been 4 years since I rode USS version and 1 year since USH) is the animatronic 'mummy' halfway through (just before the on-ride photo) at USS that broke the ride up a bit, and made it a bit longer... there was just so much more detail across the board, and the ending actually made sense - it wasn't just that you were suddenly returned to the station without 'closure' of sorts.
  19. I'm not aware of a change to USS's version - i'm thinking perhaps the track layout change in comparison to the other versions (I noticed a big difference in the ride experience between USH and USS - and I prefer the USS version by a country mile.
  20. I just want to acknowledge that while this level of storage wasn't required in the past, the park hasn't ever really been operating at this level of additional theme before. The current christmas tree for the park isn't something that really should be all-weather all year (although it is built to handle it, it should be sheltered where possible), and takes up about a container's worth of space (or more). All of the floats from Christmas are in there too - and many of the details aren't something that would respond well to weather - you must remember the parade route is mostly indoors these days. The park has taken christmas and hallowe'en to this level because they have had the room like they've never had before. I'm sure an all-weather venue for tech-crews to work on the set design of the floats has been extremely convenient (especially right opposite the audio visual maintenance bay) I'm not advocating the prolonged use of the space in this fashion, but it is in a place convenient to their maintenance areas. It is pretty clear that maintenance only needs about half the space - and you could still do some pretty awesome 'darkride' experiences in such a small remaining space (take a look at Fantasyland for ideas on how to do that!) To be honest, that's probably not a bad idea - ride systems the likes of Mr Toad or Alice's adventures in Wonderland - you could easily fit 2, maybe three different attractions in there, and still have plenty of room left for storage of the floats etc.
  21. Thats my point though - They open from September, and with the announcement I replied to - had extended through until June despite the currently low attendance. That left only July and August they are closed for. By the time you take into account issues with loss of staff when you close down, recruitment, training, etc - you might as well open the whole year and maintain permanent staffing levels.
  22. Nope - apart from a few lot sale items being picked up, nothing has changed inside - can everyone see that temporary fencing? Heres just some of whats on the other side... Although i'm not able to recall whether that particular wall was there two weeks ago...
  23. Any source on that 'weighted differently' rumor? If something is 'more jolting' it sounds to me like it would require 'more maintenance' I don't think the land space on the other side of the entrance to GL is going to be viable - it's a lower ground level than GL is (and GL has already been flooded out - can you imagine something lower?), and Stars Cafe Amenities block is in the way. If you're going to build there, might as well demolish Stars and open the whole area up. Plus - Zacspin is still a terrible idea. Edit: I can see the possibility of a theme for Harry Potter - each carriage themed to a golden snitch or a broom, and make a quidditch tie in (a snitch moves quite similar to a zacspin track... However - the problem with that theme is that WBMW no longer has any license hold for the HP franchise - and the entire theme park licensing is held by Universal...
  24. ^Jamberoo relied upon their core attractions for years before coming up with their master plan - and suddenly they're installing new attractions every year or two... Just because it's been 10 years, doesn't mean they will wait another 10 years before the next one... they may have been paying off their primary finance to actually operate the park for the last 10 years, and only now are they starting to generate a profit capable of purchasing new attractions...
  25. The point is that there isn't really a need to ask people if there is anything new. The most common contributors (Gazza, Slick, T-Bone etc) will usually visit the parks semi-regularly, and if they notice anything different they will almost always grab a photo and post it within a day or two (such as the recent pics by T-bone of the Wipeout which I'd predicted would come as I knew he'd been there recently). In addition to that, the many fanboy pages on facebook promoting poorly exposed iPhone shots of 'exclusive content!!!!!!!!!!!' (you must have the exclaimation points or it doesn't count towards your awesomeness score) generally give us a heads up if something might be changing. We're on page 10 of this thread - a lot has been talked about on wild. Several sources both inside and outside VRTP have given gentle hints that the original plan for Wild! has been canned (hence why ALL the signage for it in the park and on the website has disappeared). VRTP may be shelving the idea for a while, or alternatively, they may be thinking about expanding the idea elsewhere - but at this stage I predict no further land reclaimation on that site until a further decision announcement teaser is made. We may see them do something with the land already reclaimed, or we may even see them 're-dredge' that area if they decide not to go ahead with it. Wild! as it was once advertised is no more. It's not coming 'Summer 2014' or even 'Summer 2015'. The idea is buried at this point - to be resurrected in some form in the future maybe... but in the meantime - i think a 'yearly update' on progress would still be too much... let alone a monthly one.
