Interviews with Coaster Manufacturers - EAS 2018
MickeyD replied to Coaster Hipster's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Brilliant stuff Thank you @Coaster Hipster. Haven't heard much from you for a while, glad you are back! -
The Park is now in soft open. Take a look at these pics of this spectacularly themed New Park. I found this on Disneyandmore and themeparx.com if you are wanting to find out more. Some great ideas for our SW here and look @pushbutton they have a snazzy cable Skyway ride with enclosed cabins. -Something that I am sure you would agree our SW needs! Sunday, October 21, 2018 Shanghaî Haichang Ocean Park Pictorial Update - Part Two New pictorial update about Shanghaî Haichang Ocean Park, still in soft-opening until mid-November grand opening. Although the exterior theming looks finished and the marine life exhibits and shows are operational - except the Orcas show - none of the rides are yet working, including the Intamin Steel Dolphin coaster, always in trial operations. But there is plenty of new pictures shot by Chinese guests and posted on social medias site where Michael from Themeparx found them. I remind you that the park is located near Shanghaî at 30 minutes from Shanghaî Disneyland and will be SDL main competitor once all rides and shows will be fully operational, i.e anytime soon. Let's start by a great panoramic shot of the park, and you can see more great pictures in D&M previous article HERE.. New shots of the snow mountain. The entrance to polar mountain. The train ride is not working yet. The fountain at the center of Christmas Town, in front of the The Seal - Sea Lions show / exhibit pavilion is now working. Below, more building from Christmas town and the Kids zone are now finished. The Mermaids and Shark mosaic sculpture at the entrance of the park. The awaited Steel Dolphin coaster is still in test mode and not open yet. Jet-Ski show in the canal and daily show at Christmas town! The Skyway gondolas going from polar mountain to the volcano are now working, so let's board one of them from polar mountain station to have great aerial shots of the park! Let's enter the Volcano Whale Shark Hall to meet sharks! The flume ride is not working yet. New banners before the start of the Dolphin show. n The park has now three Belugas... ...And Polar Bears. Plenty of Penguins await you in the Penguins exhibit... According to Michael from Themeparx, at the seal exhibit inside the polar mountain, "guests can view the seals from both above and underneath the exhibit and come face to face with the seals at the cylindrical glass part of the tank". Guests can also have a close encounter with Sea Turtles... ...and even Mermaids! More pics of the Coral Reef pavilion. The underwater restaurant. The Jelly Fish exhibit. Sunset and night shots of the park! Make sure to visit Themeparx HERE as there is more pictures available and Michael adds new ones daily! Pictures: copyright their respective owners.

I suspect that smell was coming from work going on in the area. Possibly the Maintenance bay but I wouldn't be concerned. I rode AA yesterday and since the recent work carried out, I thought it was the smoothest it has ever been. And I have been riding that thing even before it opened.

Leatherface Maze for example. Mostly sound fx throughout and a lot of empty passageways. Granted, I go every year and you just can't help but compare the event to previous years I guess.. There are no more scheduled 'shows. There were some great spots (Kain, lighting, stage at front).. even the service in the Park was probably better than I've seen in a long time. The event just needs to step it up a notch now they charge a premium price for it. Doing away with the opening isnt that.

Absolutely @joz it was more that it didn't quite feel worth the $65 price tag. Not when that is only just the beginning of spending for the night. There were obvious cost cuts - mainly fewer entertainers throughout. Have you been yourself yet this year @joz? I am sure you would know where I am coming from
-
Weakest Fright Nights to date imo. Also the smallest crowd by a landslide. I fail to understand why you would bother wasting $60 on a fasttrak when our longest wait was barely 15 minutes? Up to $65 to get in tonight and I am certainly not the only 1 who couldn't see the value. There were meant to be 5 people in my group tonight but that reduced to just 2. Those not going were prepared to pay $45 but the extra $20 was a deal breaker. My partner and I did all 4 mazes in the 1st hour, had dinner, went on a couple of rides. Wondered around, revisited Kain - and still left before 9. I'd say the crowd size tonight was down at least 30% on previous years. Clearly far fewer Pass holders are no longer privileged with 1 free Fright Nights entry. I wonder how many People actually paid full price to be there tonight? House of Kain was excellent. The others were not. Leatherface Maze had many plain black walls throughout, it was almost like they spent too much money on other areas. The main stage at the front looked fantastic but clearly cost more to set up than was appreciated by most. The Band drew but few passes by. The big screens added around were also a nice touch and made the back area feel more lively. As did the fancy lighting rig at the end of Main street. Fewer Actors this year than ever before. Both within and outside of every maze. The Peeler was 1 too many upcharges. The Roxy 4d could be better utilised as a 4d splatter attraction that could run continuous screenings every 15/20 minutes and be included as another attraction to compliment the 4 mazes. I dunno.. something extra is definitely needed. With no real 'precincts' this year the line up was definitely lacking. A 5th maze maybe but they would definitely have to get more through the turnstiles to justify that, alas. It seems pretty clear that they have a tight budget to work with. I only hope that Chris and co can get more dollar's for next year's event. MW Fright Nights promises to be bigger and better every year. At least that's what everyone wants it to be. I hope this didn't sound too critical!! Ugh haha it was still a fun night but we all know they can do better.😁 6/10

Ardent are quite possibly the biggest bag of dicks to ever operate a Theme park in Human History. It is absolutely no surprise they are keeping major attractions closed at the busiest times of year right now - And Why? - Because they're closing the books and getting ready to bow out of Australia for good, People. And they know it..

For someone who spends so much time on Parkz @pushbutton you probably should know what a reservoir is.

Should VRTP sell Sea World?
MickeyD replied to BringADecentParkToSydney's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The Seaworld's in the USA are also referred to as Marine Parks yet they still have loads of rides and themed attractions that are being added all the time! -
Thunder River Rapids Incident Coronial Inquest
MickeyD replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Oh please DW stop.. just stop. The likes of Disney don't even know who you are, better still would they ever follow your pathetic example. And neither should (or will) anybody else, for that matter -
All speculation at this stage, my guess is this will form part of the boarding area for the 3 floors connecting the 3 levels of motion bases/platforms that are yet to be assembled. The screen will roughly sit where it previously did. The current structure will extend 2 main lengths, (not yet built as I write this) each slightly longer than the existing first west side (pictured). Two rows of 10 and three levels of Gondolas will run North facing, connecting from the existing structure, onto the next etc. Best seats in the house would likely be ground floor, row 7-10 in the 1st bank and 1-3 in 2nd tower. Worse spots row lower ground 1-3/7-10 level 1. The edge seats up top on level 3 would also be impacted by the curve of the screen but can offer some bonus vertigo thrills. I believe a slightly smaller 4th tower will be attached to the 2nd ride tower (similar to the existing 1 shown) and serve as the general exit and structure support.

(From Disneyandmore) I have to share this!! What a beautiful Park. Shame about the Killer Whale show, which I am sure they would be better off without.🤔 Full article with loads more info, artwork and footage, go to: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2018/09/shanghai-haichang-ocean-park-shanghai.html?m=1 Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, Shanghaî Disneyland First Competitor, Opens on Nov 16! For Shanghaî Disneyland the times when the park could reign without no real competitor is over! On November 16 Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, will open officially and the new park will be the next major attraction in the city with a trial run starting on Oct 1! The park also include a new themed hotel, which will also open on Nov 16, and will start to accept reservations from Oct 20. Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park was designed by Gary Goddard Entertainment - now Legacy GGE - who won five years ago in front of three others companies proposals, with the blue-sky design below. As a former WDI Imagineer Gary Goddard also designed many E-Tickets attractions for Universal Studios and Legacy GGE team include artists who also worked for WDI, all this to say that even if Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is not a Disney park it was designed by people who know very well how to create quality theme parks. Below, renderings of the Blue Sky Concept design, first design for the park entrance, and the final design.

I'm thinking in the better interest of crowd flow - something that has always been an issue at MW. The entry to the Ricks Courtyard is a Staff door and not suitable for deliveries etc. Having larger gate access further north east of the lane way would certainly be more beneficial for Park deliveries outside hours and day access for Batmobiles etc. Obviously this ain't gunna happen anytime soon but maybe if oneday after the kid's area gets a facelift.. Same goes obviously for the Alley space through to Arkham. Gotham city was on an Island for years and it wasn't a problem for deliveries etc.
-
Yeah that err 'forced perspective" Alley way beside the Roxy? It's about time this lame lane area be opened up and connected with the Ricks Courtyard space not far on the other side of it.

Ain't it just hilarious when a newbie comes along and (despite being dissed for a variety of reasons) keeps coming up with all these great topics that everyone else just loves to keep talking about!😁

MickeyD replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion

Gold Rush to get aviation theme at Dreamworld?
MickeyD replied to themeparkaddict's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sure but how does an uninspired shopping mall style facade mix with early 20th Century Aviation? Answer: It doesn't. For what it's worth I think the i-ride facade is pretty much the template of what Ardent also want for their other i-ride locations. -
Gold Rush to get aviation theme at Dreamworld?
MickeyD replied to themeparkaddict's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They also relocated the Red Baron kiddy ride which originally sat where Gravitron went and Zumar chair swing from where Trolls Village is today. Tail Spin would be a much bigger job though, given the extent of landscape and themeing around the area, even for DW standards. Personally I think it's a great idea to re-theme the whole Gold Rush area to Aviation. - BUT it is an IDEA - For those on here that can be bothered searching topics, this whole Aviation thing was 1st dreamed up as a suggestion by one of you when that Terrible i-ride Artwork was released. Fast forward a couple of weeks to today and someone else has evidently stolen the idea declaring that they 'heard a Staff member say the new area would be Aviation themed..' hmmm... -
So was everyone else. Missed opportunity TBH
-
Nothing. I think you are referring to the facade that houses the Movie Memorabilia store between the Roxy Theatre Entrance and Exit.
-
Studio Commissary and MW employee dining room (at least it was when I worked there). There is /was a pretty big kitchen in there where a.lot of food prep used to be done for the Park, Studios and Functions.
