  1. Thanks @Theme Park Girl! It doesn't look like a whole lot has changed since when I visited a week ago. I had to use the amenities behind that big screen and was a little disappointed to see they haven't been upgraded. Maybe there is still a plan to properly address them once the new Exit precinct opens?
  2. My bad.. I should have taken some snaps but if you saw it in person you would agree that it is nowhere close to ready.
  3. The DW Maintenance page has Wipeout reopening 24th of May. TBH I can't see it. The Gondola is sitting on the ground, arms unnattached and spray paint marks all over the supports, suggesting areas that need attention - perhaps needing re-inforcement but it looks like a similar job to what a panel beater does to a vehicle circling damage spots etc. While it's sad to see the old girl in such crook shape I am glad DW are putting so much effort and expense into what appears to be yet another significant rebuild of the ride. Does anyone know anything about the situation?
  4. I couldn't see any sign of activity at the Log Ride yesterday. It doesn't look to be opening any time soon.. Now with Winter on the way, I would anticipate a September Holiday date.
  5. I visited DW yesterday and was approached by a Ch9 female Journo and Cameraman upon leaving.. She asked me if I had visited the Park and seen the ride breakdown. I shrugged my shoulders and said 'no' then added that "rides stop all the time, it's what they're meant to do". She said, "we know - just keeping an eye on things". They were approaching just about everyone leaving the Park from the foot of the stairs outside Lego. No one else I saw was interested in speaking to them. Parasites.
  6. Wow I am really surprised and delighted to see how good that Theatre is looking! I must get in there next time and try out those comfy looking seats😃
  7. If the Track height reaches 196.8 feet then the train, seat and passenger height should easily eclipse the big 2 0 0 mark, from the perspective of where riders view it (assuming head's are on top of their bodies as is usually). This be the case then AA places it's riders significantly lower than the track's peak height of 30 odd metres.. but when was the last time anyone cared to question that? It's a Hypercoaster.
  8. It's great to see our first Hypercoaster is getting a lot of support😆
  9. I get that it's not really a priority at the moment but the Blue Lagoon really needs to go, along with adjacent Ampitheatre building and now also defunct Gold Rush area. So much land rotting away with neglect. The Blue Lagoon site is hazardous with the toboggan splash pool, tube ride channel and elevated walkways all still standing.
  10. Mr Kirby senior had quite the notoriety for his cutthroat business decisions back in the day. It was a time when his influence in the business made quite the impact for Shareholders and Stakeholders (in this case basically Senior Management) alike. Like Father, like son, Clark Kirby is a businessman. One that has not just inherited success from his Father but also the shrewd business acumen style. I wish one day they would realise that the best People to lead their Parks are those who know their Parks. As CEO of the Aussie parks he will need to first of all get to know them. Spend his first week going 'under cover' and experience the Parks as a Guest. Second week spend time with departmental Managers and third week alongside the frontline. Host Major Employee functions and bring back "employee of the month" style events and work on developing relations with Staff at all levels. Show Staff the business cares about their futures. Promote a brightness of future for them within the company.. Argh hell what am I saying? Dreams are free so I guess we will have to wait and see..
  11. So that's what happened to the old fire truck! I am showing my age here. Can anyone under 20 tell me where this other picture was taken? There was also one inside Gremlins.. They must have got a great deal on old Fire trucks! Shame this old girl has been given a rough send off I wonder which one this is?
  12. If similar means 100% alike then yes I would say you have a point! And a first post too @PNK1622 hmmm curious..
  13. It is possible for VR to be only a small part of the overall experience. If at all.. It is also speculated that the new Battle Escape attractions coming to Star Wars lands will use a variety of mediums where people will be traversing between several ride experiences. Sounds almost impossible to operate perfectly and without experiencing lengthy delays from time to time. Mind you if anyone can pull it off, Disney can! MW'S Batman Adventure kind of tried to achieve this with the multiple pre-show lead up to the actual ride. Regardless of Theme and budget, the aim of this kind of Attraction is to create an immersive experience where people can surrender themselves to the environment they are placed in, providing a new kind of thrill..
  14. Something that I have had a long standing romance with in the Theme Park world is the classic Ghost Train. If executed properly it can provide heart stopping thrills without the need for fast speeds, dizzying heights and the like. The most effective Ghost Train on the other hand relies on the visual and muti-sensory, creating suspense and anticipation in a very different way. Since childhood I dreamed of creating the biggest and best themed scare attraction using the classic Ghost Train model. This idea evolved over time to become a fully fledged Theme Park of sorts that features Dark ride, Drop ride, Rollercoaster, Walk-through, VR, Live action and Theatre elements. The idea to take the old Ghost Train Classic and bring it out to the 21st century has been toyed with, perhaps not yet done right. At least not until now.. To this day I still believe that a Next Gen Ghost Train is a missed opportunity for Theme Parks Globally - indeed one that could find a home in one of our Parks in the future. Today I see on Screamscape.com Thorpe Park has done just this.. now I'm excited😃 http://www.themeparks-uk.com/thorpe-park-guide/news/derren-browns-ghost-train-rise-of-the-demon-launch Do you think there is a place in our Parks for this kind of Attraction in the future? I certainly hope so.
  15. Love love love the colour- it will contrast beautifully against Superman and GL. The MW skyline is really going to be buzzing and drumming up smiles on crowds faces this time, 6 months from now.. super excited 😃
  16. Hahaha that's great! Love the artwork lol
  17. Bugga @Luke and @Santa07you got me Shame I saw it as a great opportunity to bait the powers at be😆
  18. Jokes aside, talking to a friend last night who is quite high up in the ranks and it is to be Bizarro. Not my first choice for a theme but maybe people will associate the name for the rollercoaster, more than the character.
  19. Thanks @Theme Park Girl I appreciate your tactile and non smart arse reply😆 I wasn't sure what stage they were at with the brand having not visited the Park for a while. Excuse my wild speculation on the matter @Reanimated35.. . Sheesh
  20. Oh no maybe the contract fell through? Still, there are so many other great brands out there.. I would would be totally chuffed to see a Darrell-Lea store done in the old style with the tempting window displays etc. Reckon it would do well if done right
  21. ^ HERE HERE!! One of my pet hates was when Supervising the Looney Tunes ride and Tech Services would often leave work lights on in the Maintenance Bay before leaving, casting light across the ceiling and spoiling the 'night sky' effect.
  22. ^ a simple and effective solution @AlexB. That would make sense as beyond that doorway is the remaining east bound Gremlin Theatre exit corridor and that would be the lights shining from the Hallway.
