You have to remember that the carpark is not always an indication of numbers in the park. Over summer the carpark was full and we had 12000 in the park. Last weekend the carpark was full and we only had 5000 in the park. Over the summer holidays thousands more people come in on buses and teenagers get dropped off for the day by their parents. I also had friends in the park last Saturday and they said they got through every ride in less then 2 hours.

Yeah Cadboy I do think it will be a busier Easter than usual, although I think there will probably be more people coming from NSW/VIC and Northern QLD than from overseas. RE: Attendance records I know that at Halloween last year Movieworld stopped selling tickets at approx 8500 but I'm fairly sure their record would be a few thousand above that. I believe we set a record of 12,500 over summer at WnW.

But where Seaworld has one (excluding the helicopters and animal adventures which are also available at DW), Dreamworld has several upcharge attractions. The waterpark was never the most popular area at Seaworld, because most people didn't want to have to get changed into their togs and then back out of them again. I really don't think it's made much difference to the park or to people's experience. Also whitsy, I may be a political nerd but I loved reading about the election. I'm sure there were others.

Who told you that. I asked one of the events supervisors about pricing for a party in Scooby Doo and was told the price would be approx $100 per person. At that rate it would've been $2000 for 20 people. I wouldn't think the park would even do events for 20 people. Are you sure you don't mean 200? That'd get closer to $20,000 and if they had the ride operating and higher end catering then the price might be right.

There;s also a show on right now on Discovery called Engineering Thrills. It's only just started but looks like there is a whole heaps of coasters. I'm sure it'll be repeated a few times.

Wet n Wild well and truely still in PEAK season
cerberus584 replied to rival81's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Dive in Movies finished in the 25th of January. To be fair though I've only been asked by one person if they were still on, most people seem to have checked the website or have seen the sign out the front of the park which up until last week said "Dive in movies will recommence next summer." Also FYI Joz, the Q150 passes are only valid till the 30th of June, not the end of the year. -
Wet n Wild well and truely still in PEAK season
cerberus584 replied to rival81's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wet'n'Wild is definitely still having very busy days. Yesterday we had an approx attendance of 8600, almost double what I would have expected in any other year. The main reason for this, other than the heat is the Q150 pass...almost all the people coming through the gates have one and it also means that people are still walking in at 4pm to have an after school swim. I still think that after the Easter holidays attendance will drop significantly though. -
Terror Canyon has been closed for several months now. There is still a sign out the front of the park every morning letting people know it's not open. A lifeguard told me at one point that it was closed for safety reasons and refurbishment but he wasn't sure if it was going to be reopening. As far as we know it's closed down. Of course we now have Black Hole which is the same thing, just without the drop at the end.

While at work at WnW today I noticed a fairly big cloud of black smoke coming from MW. Does this mean HW has a big explosion like PASS??? -
WnW had 4000+ guests boxing day, 8000+ on the 27th and 10,000+ yesterday and today. Chances are it'll be the same for at least a week and possibly until the end of January. Busiest days I've seen, and I've been there for three summers. Having said that, I went recently as a guest and we managed to get on everything and have a great day out. Basically don't be too put off by the crowds. You get an extra 4 hours and the alternative is coming in winter and freezing. And yes, WnW is now open until 9pm every night until the 25th for dive in movies. The park has also been opening early to get people through the gates so if you're planning a visit, arrive early.

So... Did anyone get the chance to ride today? Is it really as fast as it is in the video?

2009.. My prediction for what's in stall..
cerberus584 replied to MickeyD's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well I'm run-of-the-mill staff and I've heard none of that... It seems pretty ridiculous to reorganise the structure of the company according to its current properties only to be selling them off in the new year. I think some people might be exaggerating... -

Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
cerberus584 replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Damn straight they're different. This is one of the huge problems I have with this idea. I honestly can't imagine many people are going to be very happy about it, that is if they take the time to think about the system properly. -
Just totally removed this post...sorry folks...better safe than sorry

Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
cerberus584 replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
so...have you ever been to Dreamworld? -
Yeah Gazza, this happens to me too, especially at Halloween where it was easier to notice due to crazy costumes. Also, I know it's not the same (because it's more likely) but when I'm at work and I get moved to different outlets throughout the day I often end up serving the same people up to 3 times.

skeetafly, if that's the only part of that post that has you concerned then that's a sad state of affairs. it was a simple, obviously redundant joke about joe the plumber. if he's making good money then good on him! Perhaps he can afford to rent a queue jumper after he's spent $350+, but it'll make him very disliked. Imagine anyone who gets one of these devices and then when it buzzes they have to walk past the staring frustrated faces of all the people who have to wait in the line. -
Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
cerberus584 replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I understand that, but from what I can see on the website, you can reserve a place in the line for every single ride in the park all at once, and be told when you can ride. So, say person A, pays extra for this privilege, they go and line up for another ride while person B, who can't afford any extra after paying $350 to give his family a day out (4 people, plus lunch, and maybe a souvenir), has to stand in line and doesn't have the luxury of doing anything else. It might be the same waiting time but the point is you don't actually have to be in the queue. It's a line jumping charge and I for one don't like it. Either everyone should get one when they enter and be able to decide what rides they want to go on, or they should have to line up like everyone else. Sounds suspiciously like the rich getting better treatment than your average Joe (the Plumber). -

cerberus584 replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
so are they removing conventional queues? It sounds like a way for them to make some more money by renting out the Q-bots, but then what happens to those who are happy enough to just wait in line for 15 minutes. Will they constantly have people just turning up and getting on before them? I'm against the idea of people paying extra to 'queue jump' when they've already spent so much money to get in the park. -
^^^ point taken but for those lucky enough... it really is an AMAZING read. The fast plot that always keeps you on your toes, the characters, the settings... it's got it all!

Did no one believe me when I posted this?...IN SEPTEMBER! 'twas in our OH&S newsletter...evidently not a thoroughly read publication

Steve Peet's resignation is old news. I'd heard nothing about Tim Fisher though.

A bit off-topic but... I agree with Gazza that there wouldn't be such an enormous discount if it was opening before Christmas. I think the main reason for the passes though is that no one wants a repeat of last summer, when it rained all summer long. WnW especially had greatly decreased sales as a result and now that we've had major storms in SE Qld in the past week I think they're just trying to get people through the gates. Numbers skyrocket from Boxing Day onwards anyway so there's not as much need for the discount. Also agree with djrappa, if it takes longer then so be it. I'd rather have a show to rival PASS that opened a month late than have a poor performance or dangerous unrehearsed stunts.
