  1. I wish I could - I'll be at work
  2. I was looking at the map, and it would seem to me that reclaiming the lake thing that is there to the left of the carpark would make more sense - it would be more centrally located between the three attractions on the lot.
  3. Putting AVPX over in Blue Lagoon actually kinda makes sense to me - in the most recent AVP movie that I saw, all the battles were taking place in otherwise abandoned areas - makes Blue Lagoon a perfect fit. (Don't quote me on this though, because it's been a LONG time since I saw the movie and I wasn't all that interested to start with)
  4. They stick these things in at Southbank during school holidays. Saw them at Darling Harbour when I was last in Sydney too. There's definitely gotta be better available!
  5. I thought they had Big M on it a few years ago
  6. I don't think many people would pay more than $5. I know I certainly wouldn't. $10 is the cost of a meal. Way too much to pay for such a simple thrill.
  7. Jim Henson sold the rights to the Muppets to Disney
  8. Disney does indeed own the rights to Muppets
  9. It's something most people wouldn't notice, but you'd miss it if it wasn't there (if you'd been when it was there)
  10. What's the chances we could start a big facebook/twitter push to get the tower repainted? I guess the only reason would be because they would have to close both Tower of Terror and Giant Drop to do it, but if they organise everything as much as they possibly can, it should only be a day, maybe 2. Pay your staff to work long days to reduce the amount of time they'd be out of commission. Perhaps there is a way they could close GD, paint 3/4 of the tower then, and then close ToT to do the rest the next day? I was just thinking that people power managed to get Betty White to host Saturday Night Live, lets start working to improve our parks the same way.
  11. Richard, was just looking through the Introductions forum and there is a closed topic at the top from the Roller-Coaster.com.au days. Perhaps this should be changed to Parkz now?
  12. Was at Dreamworld the other day and rode the Claw, and I got to thinking - when the arm is at it's 120 degree angle (or how ever high it is that it goes) - if someone hit the E-Stop, how quickly could it stop? Are the brakes on it strong enough to overpower the momentum from gravity?
  13. Gonna be off-topic but the people who know the answer to my question will be watching this thread. Many years ago at a local town show, they had a ride there called Sidewinder. It pretty much followed the pattern of a Rainbow, but it had two arms, rather than just the one central one. Any idea who made this or what happened to it??
  14. Somewhat. They day I was there, no construction or movement of any kind was taking place between park opening and 1pm when the ride opened. It was why I questioned if the delayed opening was really for construction or for something else (e.g. Cost Cutting like VRTP would do at the moment)
  15. Was at the park yesterday, and it seems most of the framework for the new tunnel enclosure is in place. I didn't get a picture of the curved sheets of tin that are going up - these are sitting near the bottom of Giant Drop, but I did get a picture of the frames. Picture was taken from Central Station I'm just wondering now how long until it will be finished? And also, if they're going to put some form of lighting effect in there. If it were me, I would place simple white fluorescent globes every 15-20 metres, just so your eyes never really adjust.
  16. Does anyone know the reasoning behind not opening ToT until 1pm at the moment?
  17. There may already be a topic, but I couldn't find it, so if there is, please move this and sorry. Was at the park on Monday and noticed a few beams and bars laying out about the place. My thinking is that the rumour of the dark section on ToT being extended may just be true. I managed to get a few photos, so I've attached them here. Or if anyone wants to speculate on what it may be for, go for it - I'd love to hear.
  18. Be careful what you wish for re: Paint Job - they could paint it horrible pastel colours like they did for Main Street
  19. Hey guys Got an email from MyFun yesterday about the competition to name the new slides. Winner receives breakfast for 20 and first rides on launch day. Was just wondering who else entered, and what your entries were? I chose "O" - represents the loop and I can see it going well with the marketing team.
  20. I have the VIP pass, and they spelt my name incorrectly too. I just didn't see the point in going back to correct it - it's not like they're going to check my pass against my drivers license after doing it when I got the card in the first place. I used to visit the VRTP parks a lot when I first got the card, but recently I've just been sticking with Wet N Wild if I do go. A friend and I went to Movieworld a few weeks back and rode Scooby Doo just before heading to Wet N Wild and waited 45mins, and they dark room was disappointing (which seems to be the norm now days). The new shop on the corner was open, but it looked like another ice cream shop. Seems odd to have a new one there when there's another just 1 minutes walk away. I'd say get ready for the Ice Cream Parlor to die. I really don't see me purchasing another pass any time soon. When this one expires, I think I'll get an Annual World Pass up the road - and if those are available cheaper any time soon, I'll be getting one then.
  21. The first day that I went to ride Jet Rescue, they were having issues with it getting stuck in the second launch tunnel. It would launch from the station OK, and then stop when it got into the tunnel. The tech/engineer guy walked the length of the station and through the door into the tunnel, did something there, and they were eventually able to get it to launch from there and complete the ride. They sent another test run, and the same thing happened again. It was about this time I decided to go try something else. I came back and saw they'd managed to get one complete test run through, but they still weren't ready to open the ride yet. I left the park shortly after that
  22. For those following this or looking for an answer, I finally got a reply out of the park. They said that because any splash cash not used is refunded as cash, it would be like redeeming the card for cash, which you cannot do, and as such they are not usable for Splash Cash.
  23. I think the water drains and rises up. If you look at the base, there are a LOT of holes in it, and I can't see any other reason for them
  24. I think the camera is there for the ride operator to keep an eye on things - if you've ever looked inside the far side operator box on Lethal Weapon you would've seen where the cameras look, even though the ride would have a PLC looking after the block zones. I think you'd also find the wind gauge atop Lethal Weapon. I imagine the ride computers could take input from external sources for such things.
