  1. Is it just me, or is the new addition to ABC KIDS World clearly Bluey? They would make an incredibly popular character meet and greet.
  2. I went for being run as a theme park, but that just goes with a pet theory of mine that Ardent are trying are trying to have Dreamworld bought out by Merlin. i made a YouTube video on this late last year: (Moderators: feel free to remove link if it's against a policy or something 👍)
  3. I timed it on my cycle that I put up on YouTube, about 1 min 20 secs at the top, about 30 secs for each of going up and coming down. Not massively long.
  4. Rode Sky Flyer this morning. It was walk on at open, but people didn't really know it was there. Look, it was fun. It's not a thrill ride at all. it's not a Star Flyer. But for what it is, essentially a big Ekka ride, it smooth, comfortable and fun. Views are nice! You can see out to the mountains in the west. Good view of Surfers to the south. Don't make a trip for it, but if you are there it's worth a go, if you have low expectations!
  5. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I need some Movie World help. I have a mate who is doing a YouTube video on Movie Park Germany. He asked me if our Movie World ever had a "The Neverending Story" presence in its early days. Anyone know? I can't remember any, but I don't fully remember the studio tour.
  6. Cool Randy23. Thanks for passing it along. I was interested in how the track walks played out, sounded like a cool idea. Definitely hope it continues in some form! It's cool to see a mix of pros and volunteers working together. Clearly a heap of effort went in to the night, I think they/you can be proud of what was put together.
  7. We went along to the Pineapple of the Damned last night and it wasn't bad! It has a lot of potential so I hope they keep doing it. To answer a few questions, it wasn't worth 38 bucks and there was 30 mins between train rides. The actual journey was 10-15mins, still pretty good though. I didn't get any photos, but I put a write up on my blog. http://themeparknut.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/pineapple-of-damned.html
  8. That is so awesome that track went up today! We visited yesterday, and that wasn't up. I've got a few out of date photos on my blog from yesterday. Check it out: http://themeparknut.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/sea-world-june-2013.html
  9. It all depends on the meaning of wacky. Weirdest coaster I've been is the Euro-Mir at Europa Park in Germany. Spinning coaster, around mirror tubes. Closest I've come to being sick after a coaster.
  10. Sea World have just posted on their Facebook (https://www.facebook...aworldgoldcoast) a new attraction coming soon! Seal Harbour!! Looks great from the promo image "Fantastic news there is another new attraction opening soon! Seal Harbour is an amazing multi-million dollar exhibit, home to some of our cheeky Seals and Sea Lions. You’ll be able to watch the Seal’s basking in the sun, learn all about them and even have the opportunity to hand feed them! " And: "Seal Harbour is planned to open before Christmas "
  11. For anyone interested that hasn't seen much of Dinosaur Island, I put together a few photos and my review of Dinosaur Island on my blog (http://themeparknut.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/sea-world-dinosaur-island.html). Feel free to check it out!
  12. Went down to Sea World yesterday. Definitely some work going on on Lighthouse Island. Both the path leading up to it, and the path going from it to Dockside Tavern were closed off and actively being worked on. I'm excited to see what it will be like, even if it only hangs around for 13 months or so. I hope it is finished before the 30th of June so we can get a look at it with our current passes. That's just me being selfish though. Anyway, I have a couple of path construction photos up in a trip report on my blog (http://themeparknut.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/sea-world-5th-may.html). I have a few more photos which I might put up later if I get the chance.
  13. Ahhh I love cryptic clues and insider knowledge. Looking forward to whatever the end of 2012 will bring, since the end of 2011 has been pretty good to us!!
  14. Awessome photo of the giant logo!! It is nice to see those extra little bits of detail being added before the official opening. I must admit, I'm a little disappoint at the revised measurement of the ride at 120 degrees. Unless there is some sort of new announcement trying to get yet more publicity, I think that it was a big PR mistake to claim to be the world's steepest when it isn't. Realistically though I'm not going to notice 2 degrees difference when I'm on it, so I don't really care.
  15. I think the main problem with buying tickets for White Christmas this year, is that last night was the last night. I believe they sold out both Saturday and Sunday night, so this extra perk would have been no use to you unless you had the passes on Friday. To be fair to Movie World, the original Gold VIP passes came with free entry to White Christmas, the regular VIP passes did not. That is what the $10 offer was about. I believe the summer passes included entry as well. The only stipulation on this was that you had to book, because many of the nights sold out. I completely agree that they should change their ad! It bugged me all weekend.
  16. Movie World's fb has said it will be open from noon today for a limited number of riders. So if you are reading this, you've probably missed out. We'll see if they continue to do a couple of hundred per day at a random or regular time. I haven't head anyone say much about the ride yet. Makes me wonder if there is a non-disclosure agreement attached to the survey.
  17. The Outsider's have reported that Green Lantern has soft opened this afternoon and they have ridden it! Hopefully one of the forum members will snag a ride on it tonight (maybe Lscia8?) and report back what it was like!!
  18. Rumour going around that it might open for White Christmas tonight? Maybe not for long with all this rain around. I would have thought it was still a week away, but it's possible we might hear an announcement shortly!! Anyone going to White Christmas tonight or tomorrow night??
  19. I agree about the fencing being a bit low security. I guess we will see for sure once all the construction fences are down. With regard to the feeling about being out in the car park Hendo, I think the key is going to be the entrance path. That is the one thing we haven't seen much of yet. People tend not to care if the exit is a bit dodgy because you aren't there very long. I think most of us just want to ride it already!
  20. No worries GoGoBoy! I wondered the same thing about the map. I also wondered about the big Green Lantern Logo on the side of the coaster which appears on the map but not in life (yet!). If we are shooting for boxing day, there is still time!
  21. Hit up White Christmas yesterday and took some shots of the GL!! The ride looking awesome. Getting a bit more of an idea of what the Entrance, Exit and Viewing Platform will be like. Hopefully lots of work going on means lots of theming being added! Also got my first look at it on the Movie World map and the glowing Green Lantern symbol!! Anyway, I put all my photos and thoughts up in a post on my blog! http://themeparknut.blogspot.com/2011/12/movie-world-green-lantern.html
  22. I'm a big fan of Legoland! Definitely not a daycare centre. I've only been to Legoland Billund, which isn't the biggest merlin park, and we could have spent 2 days in it easily (without children). Definitely planning to visit other Legoland parks in the future! While it is not a thrill park, it is definitely a wonderfully themed family park. I've heard on twitter that they might be refering to a Legoland Discovery Centre rather than a full park. Even so it would be big new for the industry here if it is true.
  23. I was just reading about the upcoming Legoland Malaysia on Screamscape and saw this article: http://www.nst.com.my/streets/johor/legoland-park-to-offer-seven-themed-areas-1.16781 One particular passage caught my eye: "Legoland Malaysia is the first Legoland in Asia and the sixth in the world. Other Legoland are found in Denmark; United Kingdom; Germany; Florida and California, both in the United States. In the pipelines are plans to bring Legoland to South Korea, Australia and Japan." Australia?? Did I miss something? I've heard about locations being picked for Legoland Japan, and about Merlin buying Sydney Aquarium. However, Legoland in Australia that is news to me! Has anyone heard anything about this?
  24. I was thinking the exact same thing! A cool idea which I've never seen anyone really do. It would have do be designed to cope with a full load because the cost wouldn't limit users, but there is still an opportunity to make profit. I guess the prizes wouldn't be very good so they could still make money, but it is a novel idea for an upcharge. I like it!
