  1. Nine News Videos - Interviews with Greg https://fb.watch/g-3ro6BzFo/ https://fb.watch/g-3xQ1BdXv/ Couple of snippets from the segments in the Jungle Rush thread, but these are the full segments going over everything happening (inc Tiger Island). Of interest to me, the spend is now $60 million
  2. It has a toilet block in the lower levels of that building, I'd say that and it's proximity to Dreamworks has been the reason it wasn't pulled down earlier.
  3. Nothing to say it won't happen in the future. This is only 2 years worth of announcements, and they said they have plans for the next 5. Loving the fact that Vintage Motors are moving (sort of) back where they used to be, they're so far out of the way at the moment. Jungle Rush looks like its going to the right of the Billabong Restaurant building - so right where big red car / TOT station is now. Will be nice to see this area refreshed. Curious to see what is to happen with Tiger Island too as it looks like it will encroach on this area too. Unfortunately construction in the area will probably mean the train will close again. Good to see some Parkz members nailing some of the speculation - DreamWorks retheming, having a ride open for the markets (I mean its not ST or Claw, but close enough!)
  4. What was the timeline for when the big ferris wheel was at seaworld? I don't remember one ever being there. My first and only visit as a kid was circa 2001, I remember there being a Sidewinder roller coaster and the corkscrew/pirate ship. Our next trip was 2012 and they were demolishing the Bermuda Triangle, I think sidewinder was where the sting rays are now. And from the looks of the photos that's where the ferris wheel was too.
  5. The little building outcrop on the right is the old AA station. Lift hill would have been just out of shot on the right. From what I can gather from the render, that's all staying: That outcrop is the black slanty roof (much technical) just to the left of centre. No idea what they're planning on doing with it though?
  6. Taipan has been open for more than a year now but afaik it hasn't had a long period of downtime for annual maintenance. Do new coasters not have to have the lengthy outages, or are DW doing more frequent daily maintenance to keep it open longer?
  7. So it's clear we're not going to get another 3-4 Steel Taipan's, but its not an insignificant spend. Good to see they've started to turn a profit again, was looking a little worrying for a while there.
  8. Station Reveal has been posted. Looks amazing! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CkjvFBaDVF8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link LED display boards too... no projectors!
  9. Not sure how well this link is going to work, but saw something come up on my suggested feed regarding MW Hotel proposal: https://www.facebook.com/WilliamOwenJonesDivision2GoldCoast/posts/pfbid025dUq6QaadMRQUuDjozkQ3y89LbZcxQQq4do3SKz8LyeuDGjyaWFcnB8kcwoBkZpMl Few comments from surrounding residents not happy about the height, but generally supportive of a hotel. Might see some changes to the initial design yet.
  10. My take on this: Disney/Universal are two juggernauts in an massive market, they can each afford to throw shade at each other and it'll be like water off a ducks back. Here in Aus VRTP is the tall poppy at the moment, and DW is the down trodden poor cousin. You bully the underdog, and we'll grab our pitch forks. It was just an unnecessary dig at a park that is still struggling to recover, yet somehow still got their ride open without an 18 month delay. I think we all agree that the train looks good.
  11. I feel like they've had that in the chamber for a while, back when leviathan was supposed to open near Taipans opening.
  12. It's going to be incredibly hard to DW to sell the idea of them removing yet another ride if this theory goes ahead. We all know it will be for the better, but they're still copping it on various FB sites for closing all their classics.
  13. Didn't they just get new trains for motocoaster? Seems like a terrible financial decision to have to dump the bike theme. My thoughts are that (if DreamWorks is done), than Escape from Madagascar will be renamed to Jungle Rush. It's kinda already Jungle themed, but without the IP association. Problem with my thoughts are that it doesn't factor in any of the other DreamWorks attractions
  14. Having visited over Easter I know how painful the waits were. It feels like our rides are designed to handle the off-peak season only, load times, checks, dispatches can't handle peak crowds unfortunately. More staffing would help, but only to a degree. Even during the holidays, with two train ops, dispatches were still slow. This isn't only the fault of the parks though; people just don't pay attention to the announcements when they're close to the front of the queue - loose items, doing up seatbelts, pulling down harnesses early etc. It's still pretty on par with my experience in the non-premium parks in the US (Seaworld Orlando, BGT), Ops were slow there too. What I do appreciate is that VRTP don't oversell their Virtual Queue or Fast Tracks, they even had VQ 'off' completely during Easter, but by 'off' it was marked as 'Queue Full' all day which to be honest just served to aggravate people even more.
  15. https://careers.villageroadshow.com.au/vrl/en/job/499235/attraction-attendant-sw SeaWorld advertising for ride attendants. From the looks of it they're wanting availability for commissioning between 5:30pm and 2am... Late nights indeed
  16. We did, just in the old theme parks pics thread
  17. The crane only had a stainless steel bucket attached to it the other day, not the big old rustic scoop as in the video, but I'm pretty sure it was moving
  18. I noticed this the other day too. The old YouTube looks like it had some form of false wooden beam roof too, which was never replaced. All the iron work at the top was black/rusty looking. Kinda fits the theme but I would have thought it would be better to paint it to protect it a little better. I seem to remember from our family trip in the early 2000's (I'm thinking 2001? Mammoth Falls was open but I can't remember Scooby being there) when you went up the first lift hill before the backwards drop, there was a scene where you got blasted out with a shotgun or something to that nature. Sparklers were definitely in there, was a little disappointed when they weren't there on my next visit, but I wasn't aware of the fire at the time.
  19. It was alright in the end. Ended up with two rides on Lantern and Superman, one on Rivals and Batwing and caught the 4pm Roxy Cinema show. Doomsday stayed closed but I did suss out someone standing in the OP booth toward the end of the day while we were checking out the Doomsday area, so hopefully tomorrow. Superman had all effects working (stair water and misters) which was really good to see!
  20. Movieworld feels busy today compared to our visit on Sunday. Rivals back to single train, Doomsday is closed, looks as though Lantern had closed but is retesting. Superman has had one of the two broken seats fixed, but is also a single train. Not hearing any complaints though!
