  1. Imagine being an up and coming journalist, being told to go camp outside the parks and wait for something to happen so you can run a bullshit story like this. Signs your career is going nowhere in a broken industry.
  2. Sheesh, 3 years already? And I've only been twice.... I'll have to go again but my gut tells me it'll still be disappointing.
  3. I think this is a good fit for WnW I'd love to give them a go, looks like a blast, but the upcharge is too much for me. Leave it for the cashed up bogans I say.
  4. I'd definitely ride it, coming from someone who wasted 30-40 minutes at the front of the queue for Furius Baco watching them switch out one train for another. It was a painstakingly slow procedure for an equally painful ride.
  5. Looks like it'd be prone to maintenance issues. It's like they were having a 'Design the ride with the most moving parts' competition over at Mondial.
  6. ToT and Buzzsaw are both thrilling, but they are both essentially shuttle rides, unlike proper coasters like Arkham, Green Lantern, Superman, Scooby Doo, not to mention the new coaster that's coming in. Hot Wheels and MDMC are the only 'proper' coasters that are billed as thrill rides, and we all know what MDMC is like. Hot Wheels is clearly the main thrilling, big, full length coaster at the park, and while I don't hate it, Dreamworld are desperately in need of a real roller coaster to even come close to matching what Movie World has to offer. Your best coasters at the park should never be shuttle rides like that.
  7. They did an absolutely tremendous job with the wooden coaster supports. What you used to spend hours upon hours replicating with custom scenery in rct3 just happens right in front of you as you build the ride.
  8. 100 millibits per second? That's pretty damn slow.
  9. Until recently I was on ADSL that would take 5 hours to download 5GB. Thankfully I'm on cable now and I have speeds literally 50 times faster. However, like a humble rap star, I'll never get cocky, I'll never forget my roots.
  10. Does anyone have any idea what the revenue is from the lockers on Superman? I can't imagine it's that much and I really don't see the need for it. If it's for safety, they could still just provide the lockers for free.
  11. A lot of us would love every ride in every park to be a crazy thrill ride but it's really narrow minded and unrealistic to think that people like us are the only people who go to the parks. Especially at a place like Sea World, we are actually the vast minority. I've learned to love the less thrilling attractions and now I can really appreciate them for what they are. Viking's Revenge is in the memories of thousands upon thousands of Australians, I know it is certainly one of my earliest memories along with the Bermuda triangle. I'd be sad to see it go, just like I was when Bermuda went.
  12. Meh, I've gotten used to feet for coaster heights, the whole hyper/giga/strata terminology is pretty catchy.
  13. Don't worry about your reputation, it's just a number. Also, complaining about your reputation is the easiest way to decrease it even further. Perhaps just sit back a bit and work out how people do things here. I don't know about you but I usually lurk for a good month or so before I even start to post in a new internet place.
  14. They've posted 1 tenth of my total posts in 9 hours, and I've been here on and off for almost four years. I'm impressed, honestly.
  15. I think it's most likely a place where two lengths of track cross over eachother, two airtime hills with one of them being a headchopper for the other.
  16. The ride time on Viking's Revenge is fine for me. I don't think people want to spend another minute being glared down upon by the sun waiting for the drop and to get wet, which is why they really went on the ride.
  17. That's not the tone I got from the article at all. I agree with a lot of what is said re: "you could categorise almost anything as risky and there are few guaranteed certainties in life" and having "confidence that theme parks prioritise safety". You're right though, a bit of an oversight to think that the ride will be running again so soon, but I don't think she meant anything like the words you're putting in her mouth about the incident being an inconvenice to her holiday, you've misinterpreted the point of the article.
  18. I still don't know why anyone in their right mind would go to channel 9 if they had something to say. They could manipulate the words that come out of your mouth to no end to say whatever they want you to say.
  19. Just write the @ symbol then their name, and click their name in the dropdown menu that comes up. @ashhole157 If there were any updates, they'd be up here.
  20. Jesus Christ. Some people crave fucking attention. It seems everyone knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who thought they were almost killed on this ride.
  21. This is the beauty of coasters. There's no set of criteria that can really tell you what makes coasters better than others, it's all about what they make you feel. If I'm in the mood for flying I'll ride a B&M winged, if I'm in the mood to go fast I'll ride an Intamin accelerator, if I want to go down massive drops and soar over huge airtime hills I'll ride a hyper of some sort, if I want to disorient myself and experience something a bit crazy I'll ride something with lots of inversions. The possibilities are really endless, and it explains why even amongst people who have ridden the same coasters they'll place them all in a different order. Personally I find it so hard to order mine, every ride usually offers something different to another one in the same park. Kinda like cars for me, you can only properly compare a coaster with another coaster that's designed to do the same thing. You don't compare a Nissan Pulsar with a Lamborghini for example, just like you don't compare a B&M Hyper with a Vekoma SLC. However, just like you can compare a Pulsar with a Mazda 323, you can compare different coasters that are trying to do the same thing, like B&M Inverts and Vekoma SLCs, there's even argument to be made that these coasters are offering different experiences.
  22. We have an avid Air Crash Investigation fan amongst us then? Makes two of us.
