DC Rivals HyperCoaster Announcement
Santa07 replied to screamqueens's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sorry, can't comment right now, I'm currently in the middle of re-watching the animation over and over again. I actually think the name is perfect, I think the more "general" DC theme is going to work really well. Backwards is quite a gamble, does that make it the world's first backwards hypercoaster? I know this sounds a little bit too much like push, but I think the intensity of back seat combined with going backwards could be a little too extreme for some people. I know Swarm backwards didn't get fantastic reviews. It's a little bit of a gimmick honestly, still I'm sure the GP will love it. -
If a car gets stopped at a block brake on GL, does the audio keep playing or would it pause? (provided it's working )

Parc Astérix | Pégase Express | 2017 Gerstlauer Family
Santa07 replied to Coaster Hipster's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wow that definitely does have a very firechaser express-y feel doesn't it. You're very strong-willed to not watch the POV of a coaster - when a POV for MW's coaster is released I think I'd try not to watch it, but give in after a few minutes.- 2 replies

This is something I've been quite interested in - but never really have looked into it. Coasters obviously have some sort of software behind it to keep track of all the ride's systems, but what level of complexity is it? Do coasters run off small microcontrollers, or are the computer systems behind them a lot larger? Do manufacturers hire programmers to create the software for the coasters, or do they use external companies to do this? Are the software systems for different coasters very similar, or very different? What are the typical languages behind a coaster's software? How does the software for a coaster differ from say a flat ride or dark ride? You'd think the software would have to be pretty efficient to constantly keep track of everything the ride is doing and find any faults as they rise. Where else is software used heavily from within a theme park? But yeah, does anyone know anything about this? I'm currently studying software engineering, so I would love to know a bit more about this side of coasters.

You finish university exams awfully early... unless this is a midsemester break?

Just remember that this was a teaser, and not an announcement. Out of the images @Skeeta showed, Storm was definitely a teaser, while the other three, especially GL, were more of announcements. I do hope we are getting weekly teasers now until the announcement, in which case I'll be keeping a close eye on my emails and these forums today

Unless you're someone like me who was never able to really get the hang of it

Go on a really windy day. You will find the best time to get a spin going is when you're at the top, as there's more wind up there to get you going. Once you do get a spin just hold your position and you should keep on going until the end (that said - even I find it hard to stay spinning just because it does your head in after a while).

There's no such thing as a "freebie" when you're buying rollercoasters. The real reason why they had so many Intamin rides in a row is probably because they had created a partnership of some sort with Intamin. That way the connection between Intamin and VRTP is stronger, the parks know that the rides they're getting are good quality. They might've gotten some sort of discount, but certainly no "freebie". It's the same reason why Six Flags has been building a couple of RMCs each year from the past few years (although this partnership may have ended?) or why Cedar Fair got a B&M for one of their parks every year for a few years back there.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017

What's next - Doomsday is being relocated into the middle of Superman? -
I can't view the full article, but this is what I can see: If I can sue someone every time I have a bad dream I'd be a billionaire by now. Honestly I do wonder if it was because he "wasn't ready", or if it was because he didn't follow the staff's directions and didn't get into the right position.

30˚ is more realistic, I remember doing the calculations and it does still fit. -

Flash's loop went up before the lift hill was topped off, do you think we will see the same or will they try to get the lift hill and drop done asap while GL is closed? Is there any advantage completing the highest point of a ride last? -

Here we go! It's time for Movie World's skyline to change completely... -
Fantastic (or maybe phantastic ) trip report @Coaster Hipster, I'm lucky enough to be going there later this year, really looking forward to Taron, Black Mamba, Winjas, and possibly even Chiapas if it's not too cold. Taron really does look like an amazing coaster - it combines the thrills and intensity of a ride like Maverick, and the quality of theming Disney has. The whole Klugheim area looks absolutely incredible, it's quite unbelievable how the two coasters actually fit in within the rockwork and theming. Even the subtle things like the music of the area blows me away - Taron's dispatch music is possibly the best music on a coaster (note the word "coaster", Chiapas still beats Taron's soundtrack for me) I've heard - it gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it. While the official front-seat POV of Taron looks great already, I think the back-seat nighttime POVs look even better, and apparently even that doesn't give justice to the ride experience.

disneylands new guardians of the galaxy ride opening soon
Santa07 replied to alldinoman17's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A Disney ride starts the moment you step into the queue line. If you take a look at the queue and pre-show, I think it explains the story perfectly well.
