  1. @Thrill Seeker I’m not sure if this is still the case, but MWs carpark is/was owned by the council (Someone on here will know), so it is likely that the grassed area isn’t allowed to be developed for that reason, and as it is/was used for some events (Christmas Carols). But I do agree that surely they should install the carpark on the blue area, rather than using land nearby. What they should also do is make their current carpark more pedestrian friendly, as there isn’t really any designated path to get the entrance, meaning most people just walk in the lanes. All it would take is removing the end carparks of each row and addings a pedestrian crossing instead. And maybe even finish the gravel area and make that a lined carpark too
  2. Showtime FX have shared a video, and you can see they are constructing something on the island for the show. Good to finally see they are making good use of it instead of trying to sell cars
  3. Dreamworld has hired a commercial aviation expert as the engineering boss. Full article: A MAN with over 18 years experience in the aviation industry has been brought in by Dreamworld to oversee engineering, maintenance, projects, and infrastructure. Ben Hogan will take on the role of General Manager Engineering, responsible for a team of more than 115 team members, as the Gold Coast theme park looks to restore its image in the wake of the 2016 Thunder River Rides Tragedy. Mr Hogan plans to use his experience in aviation to bring a level of governance, structure and process into the Australian theme park industry that has made commercial Aviation the safest industry in the world, Dreamworld explained in a statement Mr Hogan has held executive management roles in engineering and safety for well-known aviation organisations such as Qantas Airways, Jetstar Airways, Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific “Aviation is one of the safest industries in the world thanks to strict governance and regulations,” Mr Hogan said in the statement. “I have taken on this role of Dreamworld’s General Manager Engineering to share my learnings in this field and bring the engineering levels of Australia’s biggest theme park to that of commercial aviation,” he added. Mr Hogan will be responsible for the engineering and maintenance activities of Dreamworld’s state-of-the-art new attractions and experiences, as well as the ongoing engineering and maintenance of all existing rides and attractions. “My focus will be on acquiring new assets and reviewing all existing rides, as well as park standards and appearance to strengthen the prestige and confidence of the Australian theme park industry,” he said. http://www.mygc.com.au/dreamworld-hires-commercial-aviation-expert-as-engineering-boss/
  4. This was just announced. I imagine details will be coming very soon
  5. If they could get SV ready for this or even better, open on the day that night, it would be awesome opportunity and I’d definitely go just for that
  6. Many parks have advertised things before they open
  7. I very much expect they haven’t been updated in years. They should make a big thing of them and have a some sort of ceremony when they add a new one, especially since so many Hollywood actors have been next door lately
  8. Turns out it’s just them officially announcing the all new Batmobile in the park
  9. Movie World have teased on their Instagram story that they are dropping some news this afternoon, and show a blurred clip on Batman in a vehicle accelerating
  10. I find that the website is updated very regularly, including if a ride is just down for the day, after the park opened due to technical issues or whatever it may be. VRTP don’t do that. And remember how long the park maps were outdated too. The site map is probably an oversight SV has been removed off the news on the home screen, but currently still says opening this summer on the rides page
  11. On Wednesday’s they are doing uni nights and any students can play from 6 until 9 for only $25 per person, and they get discounts on F&B, which I think is an awesome deal. 3 hours for $25 is awesome
  12. Skip to about the 10 minute mark for the Topgolf experience. They do say how they are offered to sit down in the booth and order some food and drinks before game play even begins, which I think is great and should be what they do here. Just adds to the experience. I would understand them not doing this during a peak period, but on a slower/quieter day I definitely think they should
  13. This isn’t me providing the lesson, but asking questions about Movie World’s history about current buildings and areas original usages. Was this building actually a diner and when did it close? Has this building ever had a real purpose because I have never seen it be used for a decent amount of time And this area that has all the games in it, what was originally here or the space used for? (I do know the dodgems building was HP and then the Matrix)
  14. You can still use the area for free, and they have the cards attached to each area. But they’ve now put back up the sign and have the bands heavily available. I’ve gone into the store a number of times and didn’t have any available
  15. Good news, MW have got rid of the Topgolf sign outside the entrance and have gone to these efforts
  16. Poison Ivy has returned And look what else is back
  17. As long as if there is some form of story, concept behind it, and there isn't any cringe comedy, they should be fine... surely?
  18. I am very hopeful this actually turns out to be decent, and up to the standards of the original ski shows at the park
  19. The Wipeout stores I understand the removal, they’ve never seemed to be anything exciting and never looked permanent. So I’m happy to see them go. Definite shame about the Buzz Saw store as that building fit well into the areas theme. Hopefully they don’t knock it down as that will make that area feel even less of a themed area. And at least they’ve put a wrap on the construction wall, rather than leaving it blank and an eye sore
