  1. You could be right there. Hopefully they both do return though
  2. TPSN posted that Aquacolour Spectacular I’ll be held twice at night now (7:30 and 8:30). Can confirm this with a source from SW?
  3. The way it reads to me makes it seem like it only closed for the one day (tomorrow) and not permanently closing just yet. It says it is closed on specific date, not closed from.
  4. The construction fences around Wipeout have been removed, and the way and name that sit on the top of the gondola are waiting to be reinstalled. Hopefully this means we will see testing begin very soon (Photo: TPSN)
  5. The first ride closure for maintenance for this year has been posted: Justice League 3D - Closed for scheduled maintenance on Monday 19th February and will re-open on Monday 12th March 2018
  6. The vintage cars have also returned to main street @Adventures With JWorld Can confirm that the WWF boats have all been repainted, and there have been any changes to the harness system yet. They have also just begun continuous testing of the ride, with some boats continuing test dummies
  7. Fingers crossed your theory is correct, because after all the improvements the parks have been making, this is one major thing I want them to fix. It’s so much nicer to have a proper plastic card. And they haven’t even used a proper photo of DC Rivals, still the rendered image they were using before the ride was even open.
  8. The park have been printing plastic passes since February, but agree it is great to see they spend that little bit more for much better quality. Out of curiosity, has anyone got the VR One Pass yet? Is it plastic and what print is on it?
  9. I haven't been inside the park, but the carpark has still been 75% to 85% full, so I imagine queues are still quite lengthy. The slide towers at WWW have had queues almost going to the bottom of most slides.
  10. Last night I got to go to my first ever Carnivale, and was very much looking forward to how the event works at SW and what it has to offer. I will start by saying that out of last years FN and WC, this was absolutely my favourite of the 3. The atmosphere, entertainment, food, music, it was all great. But the Aquacolour Spectacular was incredible, and I’d quite happily pay the entry fee just to see this again. I’ll go into more detail later, but first I’ll discuss the individual elements; Entry process: You can enter through either the main entry or the pass entry, but this wasn’t very clear and the metal fencing out the front (creating an extended queue area) was a mess and people were not even lining up here. We arrived around 5:45 and entered the park at 6:05. By the time we got to the ticket scanners, they weren’t scanning tickets anymore and were just taking them off us and not giving us wrist straps, so they could speed up the entry process. Entertainment: As soon as we entered there was already performers and this continued all the way up to the Plaza. With there being just the right amount so that they weren’t annoying or causing crowds to block the paths. Within the Plaza it was endless entertainment, photo opportunities, sound and smiles. The vibe in here for great and you couldn’t help but dance and join in on the fun. The attitude of all the entertainment and staff was great across the whole night. Even around some of the animal exhibits and rides there were performers. Food: People keep saying that there has become less and less variety at Carnivale over the years, and as I’ve never been to one before I’ve got nothing to compare it too. But I thought the variety and taste of the foods last night was amazing. I had the Pulled Pork Roll and the Po Boy, where were both really really nice. They had some good flavours and were filling, which made the price more justifiable. I spoke to some others who tried some of the other food varieties and none of them complained about any of it. This year there were 7 or 8 stalls selling food in the Plaza, along with all the other food outlets throughout the park, which were still popular. General: The variety of other things to do, such as the animal exhibits and rides were an added bonus of stuff to do throughout the night. You could literally spend the whole time in and around the Plaza and you’d be happy with the night. But being able to watch how the animals are at night was really cool, especially in Shark Bay. Seeing how the sharks behave was quite fascinating and really different from the day time. There were plenty of photo opportunities to in front of signs and the large floats throughout the park. All the rides were popular, especially Nickelodeon Land, which looks beautiful at night. We only went on the Storm Coaster (Which I hadn’t done for a couple of years now and noticed they had removed the seat belts and you were allowed loose items in your pockets). The queue was only about 25 minutes, and the loading and unloading was reasonably efficient. Aquacolour Spectacular: This was the main reason I really wanted to attend this years event, and it completely blew my expectations. The effects, colour, water, sound, fire; all of it was amazing and the reactions from the crowd really showed how amazed everyone was. Before it began, at about 8:15, the fire dancers were along the front of the crowds performing many of the stunts they were doing throughout the park, plus a few extra, and was really good pre-show entertainment. And then at 8:30 the show began. The build up was great, and once the water canons began, it went to a whole new level. And when the flyboard riders came out, it went to another new level of awesomeness. The laser effects and music that was synced with it all made it all a truly incredible show to watch. It went for about 15 minutes, but it certainly felt a lot longer. Before the show began the speaker for the night said the show has been 4 years in the making, and I can say, it was all worthwhile. Leaving: As expected leaving SW was a nightmare, and took us nearly an hour to just leave the carpark, due to its very poor design. But then took ages to travel down Seaworld Drive. My tips is to park as close to the front as possible, and when driving down Seaworld Drive, stick to the left lane and then drive into Surfers if you are wanting to get onto the GC Highway. Traffic controllers would have definitely helped with the whole situation, but there weren’t any to be seen. Overall: I loved the event, and this will definitely make me want to return again. Setting this new standard for the event with the Aquacolour Spectacular is great and for me makes the move to SW worthwhile. From what I read about last years event, this was a massive improvement. And can’t wait to see how it improves in the years to come. I’m giving last nights event an 8.5/10
  11. The events park map, and looks like they are unfortunately taking the new style of MWs map
  12. A STOP-START plan to open a $45 million theme park near Smithfield remains in play with its developer in deep negotiations with Chinese investors. Adventure Waters proponent Paul Freebody launched a “sophisticated roadshow” across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China in October in hopes of drumming up support from potential financiers. He has applied to Cairns Regional Council for a four-year extension to construction approvals to provide a “more assured time frame” to reassure investors the project will be allowed to go ahead. One question that has come up is about the project coming up for renewal in May, so we want to deal with that before it becomes a problem,” Mr Freebody said. “Our roadshow has proven most successful. “We’re still not cracking the champagne corks yet but we are quietly confident of moving towards where we want to be.” The project beside the Captain Cook Hwy was approved in 2009 after years of planning with construction finally starting in mid-2015. It came to a halt later that year with tourism tycoon and Nautilus Aviation owner Chris Morris making a takeover bid They look at that as a solid investment. “They understand their clientele and customers because they are of the same group.” He said the consortium behind the scheme had allowed for a 3 per cent escalation in costs over the past 18 months, which had been included in its budget. Mr Freebody predicted it would still take a year-and-a-half to begin construction even if the finance stars quickly aligned themselves. There is always going to be sceptics and the only way to silence them is to build it,” he said. “A project of this size always takes seven to 10 years to get to the end. “There are a lot of hurdles to go through – there are the objectors you need to deal with through the courts, which we’ve done. “Now the economy and conditions are all very favourable for the park. “If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.”
  13. So essentially the framing is just to stop people from standing up during the ride.
  14. They announced they were changing for the summer holidays mid December, and for the past couple years have had extended trading hours (But has been until 9 or 10 because of the night show they did) WnW and MW also have extended trading hours (9-6) until the 8th
  15. Material has been added to the top of the cage to provide some shading for riders, the red metal fencing in front of the sign has been removed, and glass panelling has been added to the loading and unloading stations
  16. The main issues I have with MDMC is the lack of comfort and how horrible the theming has become. Yes we can all agree it shouldn’t be classified as a Thrill Ride, and it’s quite slow and not the most exciting ride, and the Jet Rescue is so much better. But I think they should invest in replacing all the rides theming around the queue area because right now it’s very worn out and makes the whole area look really tacky. Investing in some new trains would be awesome too, so the ride is much more comfortable or more efficient to get into and out of. Because damn that plastic pushing against your knees and legs really hurts, especially towards the end of the ride.
