I do wish they kept going with the corrugated sheeting, rather than sticking a print of block work onto the wall.

I don’t mind it because it matches all the other white sheds in the park, at least they’ve slapped a stage number on it

A major issue DW have had since 2016 is a lot of rides were removed and the rides that were removed where what put the park on the map. And when so many closed so quickly, they get the reputation that there was nothing to do. And now with so much work going on throughout the park this year, to some it will still feels like that because there are so many construction walls. And this will be even more evident during the school term four period because ABC Kids about to close, the DF is still under constrcution and parts of Dreamland are fenced off. At least by the peak summer holidays all of this will be done and construction walls will be in the one (large area) that is ABC Kids World.

I think it comes down to memories that people have. MW is known for having the best thrill rides in the country. They have the reputation of creating awesome rides like Scooby, WWF, Superman and DC Rivals, so if you ask (most people), which park they would prefer to go to if they had a choice, they would most likely pick MW. They’ve built this massive reputation and people will again (almost) pay whatever VRTP charge because people want to experience those rides again. And I think it’s the same with Fright Nights. It was/is the event to go to at Halloween, and the event built this massive reputation that started probably around 10 years ago, so now people will pay (almost) whatever to go to the event again.

Dreamworld’s Ocean Parade Expansion 2023
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The name is corny; and the animatronic isn't 'world class'. But I think it's great to see something like this at our parks. We rarley see animatronics (it's been over ten years since the last one was installed), but for the target audience it's awesome and it in an impressive animatronic, considering it's in a splash pad. I've always admired Disney/Universal for having interactive characteres (prime example is Donkey at Universal) and wished our parks would follow the same route and they finally have. I know DW have a more anologue approach when it comes to attractions (they generally prefer to have attractions/elements that are simpler in their engineering to ensure reliability, rather than having reliance on screens, animatronics, etc). So this octopus came as a surpirse to me, but a good one, and I hope it is reliable because it already seems very popular with kids. I can imagine the interactive version of the octopus might only be on weekends and holiday periods, but I'm glad it also has an auto option so it's not in a 'sleep' mode. Overall, I think the splash pad will serve it's purpose very well and it's proving very popular, so it will be ticking all the boxes for the park. It's not the prettist splash pad, but it has a lot going for it and fills a gap in the parks lineup. The interactive screen was a good concept, well presented with the rockwork wrapping around it, but with its location due to sun glare has become a poor choice. The rockwork needed to be deeper so it was more something you stand within/under to help reduce the glare; or in a different spot entirly (ie, on the inside walls of the dodgems). I think this area is an overall good expansion for Ocean Parade and adds a lot more value for families. Let's hope the rest of a OP gets an overhaul, with more attractions to fill the large void in the area. -
Maybe it's just because it's not the sort of thing I would attend, but I am surpised the Underground Club sold out that fast. Maybe because Fast Track is included, but for the price their charging, I didn't think it would be a popular ticketing option. Cudos to the park. They are proving that they can (almost) charge and offer what they want at Fright Nights and people will pay.

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's great to see for possibly the first time this year (excluding Scooby) there are no attractions under maintence. I'm sure that won't last with Doomsday's reliability, but nevertheless, it's still good to see. -
It's a shame to see the Blue Lagoon/Big Brother stage area isn't included in precinct one. There is still quite a bit of land within precinct one that still needs to be developed that hasn't got announced plans for, ie. Rocky Hollow, Ocean Parade, behind WWW and potentially the current vintage car location. Which is a lot of area and definitly a higher priortity. However, I would have thought for the long term future of the park, they would have classified the blue lagoon area. Maybe I'm dreaming because that land hasn't been touched for nearly 20 years and there are high priority areas at the park to develop before even considering that corner.

Superman is the only ride that requires a locker, and they are now free (for an hour I believe) when riding

Music on Main - New school holidays event at Movie World
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They might have roaming performer’s throughout the park, but nothing is advertised. At first I did think they weren’t going all out for this event because of Fright Nights, but I just realised there isn’t actually an overlap for the events. Music on Main ends on Oct 2 and FN starts Oct 6. -

Tickets have been on sale for a month now, and still no nights have sold out. With another price increase this year, have they pushed it to far? The website says tickets are selling fast, but in previous years, several nights would have already sold out with only 3 weeks to go until the first night.

Sea World Monorail removed from website and park map
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
And at one point in the parks life they had 3. Monorail, SkyWay and the train. And they were all popular and extended your day at the park because they each offered something different. And now the park is left with none, which I think is a massive mistake. -
Dreamworld’s Ocean Parade Expansion 2023
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They were just testing the octopus in that video, so hopefully it is a lot smoother and more lively when the area opens. Interesting choice to have what’s probably a complex animatronic in a water splash zone. And I agree, the renovation has turned out pretty well so far considering it was a Chinese themed area. From what I’ve heard, they’re still not done with the Reno of dodgems and this pathway, but like Kenny’s forest flyer, they just wanted to get it open to minimise closure times -
Removal of virtual queue at VRTP?
themagician replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The thing is, MWs fast tracks regularly sell out, while DWs doesn’t. MW could (almost) charge whatever they wanted (they shouldn’t) for Fast Track and they would likely sell out- 33 replies

All of this feels a bit pathetic. Maybe because it’s not for me and not something I would ever use or want to try out, but I can’t see this lasting. All of these subscriptions/extras they now have seems like wasted resources when they could be putting these efforts into the product they have (the parks themselves). But if anyone thinks this is worth while and they see good opportunities, I’d like to hear your thoughts

I’d glad they’re not focusing on IP Mazes, while some of my favourite ever mazes at the event are IP based, in more recent years I’ve thought the non-IP mazes have been better. I still think having 2 IP mazes is a must (which is what we’ve got this year), but having 3 in house mazes is great and should mean we get overall better mazes because there’s extra funds.

Final maze to be revealed at midnight
