  1. She didn’t get a ride, but she still got the fluids....
  2. I go to SW maybe 3-4 times a year, because it just doesn’t do anything for me in terms of excitement. The visits I do make are for Carnivale, and when I give in to my son to take him on the kids rides or see the Paw Patrol show. I haven’t watched the dolphin or jetski show on any visit in the past 3 years. When mates come up from interstate, the park isn’t even mentioned as a “maybe let’s go there this trip”. It’s lost it’s identity imo...
  3. There is loving rides, and then there’s this....
  4. I think a world class coaster could revitalise SW and replace SeaCorkViperScrew. That’s not to say they are not lacking in quality family rides either. I don’t think either are high on their list though
  5. SW to me just seems like it’s been put into the “important but not urgent” basket by VTP. Their inbound tourism revenue keeps them comfortable in terms of revenue & profitability regardless of investment in rides, and they are on par with DW in terms of their kid-friendly attraction - so significant Capex always seems to be on backburner for the park. its clear VTP isn’t looking for large output this year after DCR last year, but I’d hazard a guess that dropping $10-20m on a coaster at SW would be potentially lower on their priority list than say improving the kids/family offering at MW - and I’m not particular in disagreement with that. Whilst SW is a standalone park, most local/interstate visitors to SW do so as part of their annual pass or a 3 Park/weekly tourist offering. It’s bascially now just an add on to MW just as WnW is (maybe even less so).
  6. Having the vegetarian would be a missed-steak
  7. You used to be able to buy a decent bag of mixed lollies at the corner store for $1 too, but I don’t see you berating the manager at Coles for charging you $3.50 for a half filled bag of Allen’s snakes. Prices go up... $139 for 4 parks = under $35 per park for a year of access. Visit each park 4 times a year (or as an average - could be 8 times each to MW & SW) and that’s under $9 a visit. Parks are open 7 hours a day - so you are paying $1.20 an hour for entertainment. If that’s “highway robbery” then I’m Elmur Fudd...
  8. $139 is a bargain. $199 would even be value for a local. Yes it’s a heap up front for a family - and maybe they’ll introduce monthly payments again on day - but it’s still terrific value
  9. Looks the same as it did 4 weeks ago. They should seriously just axe the idea. They are closer to having nothing than a finished product. the whole point of it opening at Christmas was to build off the success & marketing of the film & the direct-to-dvd Trolls Holiday which had a December release. The whole marketing tie in has been missed and the brand itself is irrelevant now until the sequel comes out which is due to 2020 I believe. Shelve the plans and do something different
  10. Am I missing something? Where is the snow? I give it a week before someone flys off that ramp sideways and hits concrete...
  11. Reckon it would go well at somewhere like Night Quarter if zoning allowed
  12. Don’t hold me to it as I didn’t see it first hand but was told in Park yesterday that these “free” guests can upgrade to an annual pass for $40 in the park.. Also wondering why so many people had grey DW hats on... they are free when you buy or renew a pass
  13. Pretty sure that’s the old second train that is slowly being stripped of parts as they are required on the operational train
  14. Seems the majority of the world disagrees. I’ve seen the trailer and it looks like typical teenage d-grade rubbish. Wanna see a good horror movie - see A Quiet Place.
  15. Can you believe this article (same one posted above) is actually being pushed onto people’s facebook timeline’s as “sponsored content”. The media are actually paying money to make sure people see it...
  16. DW’s move away from a discount model has come to fruition, they have now moved into a free entry model...
  17. Cue GC council & Qld government trying to reactively build some more “we’re open for business” promotion... bit late now... “we need cuddly animals and a media call to Broadbeach... now!” “can we bring our DW mascots too?” ”nope - no commercial promotion unless you pay us $2m” ”then no Koala’s” ”Bring em down! We’ll even pay you!”
  18. All DW passholders can bring a friend for free each day until the end of April..
  19. Maybe VTP evaluated and decided the ROI wasn’t high enough given their target market and the expected tv audience demographics? I seriously doubt either of our parks didn’t investigate and evaluate a partnership opportunity. Maybe they believed the marketing $$ were better spent in more targeted campaigns following the games?
  20. No commercial promotion or activation is allowed in games venues or in precincts.. only paid sponsors (namely the Star, Optus & Woolworths) are allowed to mention the games or athletes in promotional activity (hasn’t stopped small business from trying to piggyback off it, but a large corporation like VTP would get done). The Comm Games sees itself as a brand - and as such doesn’t want others stealing exposure from its operations
  21. There is a reason only the Swimming Stadium had a naming right sponsorship... bucket loads of cash for what is basically limited exposure as only the swimming program and the athletics finals rate particularly highly on tv. 99% of people attending the events are aware of the theme parks, so really there is no benefit to being the “village theme parks squash Centre”
  22. Not taking into account the likely reason for the closure. Wow. Just wow.
