  1. I think you'll find that is the 'Theme Park Capital' advertisement, which is for all QLD theme parks not just VRTP's. This is QLD tourism advertisement, not VRTP. So they are not claiming themselves to have the greatest rollercoater, the government has just added that in to hype up the ride/park/destination
  2. Who said it was Australia's greatest roller coaster?
  3. I'm no ride tech but I would assume a max weight capacity limit or a restraint locking requirement would be an automated function that overrides operator control. I know that is a case of Scooby. There is red light on the operator terminal that turns off when all 4 riders have their lap bars sufficiently engaged and the total weight of the car is within allowable range. The operator cannot launch the car until the light goes off.
  4. It's very hard to say. The lap bar literally swings over u from one side to the other as opposed to towards you from in front. This 'could' make it easier, but then again depending on your weight distribution when sitting could also hamper the ability for it to lock in the required amount. Keeping in mind some rides need to 'click' in more than one level, not just the first click, to be able to be launched I'd advise calling the park and seeing if their is a weight limit for the ride first & foremost, and if not or you are within that limit, maybe arrive at the park early so u are amongst the first few riders so if u cannot ride u won't be having to get off/ejected in front of a packed queue house, which by the way shouldn't be seen as embarrassing or mortifying. I've seen in happen before, commonly in Scooby, as their is a max total weight for the carriage, and as I mentioned earlier, a required number of 'click in' levels before the operator can launch the ride
  5. Depends what your eating Chips will set you back about $5, same for a coke. A meal about $15
  6. Almost their entire portfolio is entertainment businesses! Theme parks are right up their alley, we (theme park enthusiasts) just don't agree with some of their strategic direction & operating procedures. The regular theme park attendee has no problem with DW, which is probably why they win tourism awards!! They serve the 90%, not the 10% who come on forums and nit pick every aspect of their operation - whether the nit picking is warranted or not.
  7. If they are giving away Harvey Norman gift vouchers, which are being purchased regularly and over a consistent period of time, you probably would find they have some form of commercial agreement. I work in sales, and there are far dodgier companies and methods out there than this. Everyone knows what the holiday club is about. If u don't you work it out real quick and say no. It's really simple. U really have a bee in your bonnet over this, and while that's your prerogative, I'd certainly recommend u don't take something as little and unimportant in the grand scheme of things in life so personally and to heart.
  8. I don't think it has ever been formally confirmed, but the general understanding is it will be a permanent exhibit
  9. Umm... No it's not. Check a TV Guide Seven: 6am Sunrise 9am The Morning Show Nine: 5:30am Today 9am Mornings
  10. Huh? It's themed to a DC character, in the DC precinct. Why will it ruin it?? The concept is unique in teens of Australian offerings. A drop tower can be found 10km up the road...
  11. So something looking smaller compared to another ride diminishes ride experience or lessens thrills? I think not. Oh, and it's middle.
  12. Isn't The Morning Show on 7? Why would they be talking about DW?
  13. No idea who Eddie is... But he may well have been at MW but there was nothing out out by MW on FB or the like inviting people down, which is what they did when the today show was there.
  14. Yeah it's baffling really. When I took my 8 year old niece last year to the parks, she was able to go on ToT2, GD, Cyclone, Claw, MDMC at DW. We goto MW the following day and she can't get on Batman Spaceshot!! Let alone SE, AA or GL.
  15. Yeah lolman has gone off half cocked with completely the wrong park and show Today Show is at DW I've never watched Sunrise, but just went on their FB page and no mention of MW on their 'what's on the show tomorrow' post.
  16. Here's hoping this time next year we will have something to be excited about
  17. it's not my fav park (that easily goes to MW) but IMO when you have a young family, DW is still the best choice for a full day out that has something for everyone.
  18. If you are going to have a rant newaddict, at least get your facts right. There is only nsw and Vic permit numbers, because qld, nt and wa do not require permits for competitions. Look at any national competition run by any major company and you will see exactly the same thing. Nothing in life is free, if you were suckered in thinking u could win a holiday from a scratchie that u didn't even have to pay for you shouldn't be so gullible. Seems to me like u just don't like sales people and have created this whole falsehood about the company being dodgy in your head based on there not being a permit number or Abn on the ticket.
  19. All I'm thinking is how many flights of bloody stairs would u need to walk up. Be a 15 minute trip!
  20. It's absolutely no different to people with casual leasing stands in shopping centres, at football matches or at the Easter Show/EKKA. If you are not interested just keep walking, and if your in a good mood, say no thanks
  21. Why are u disgusted?? You have never had a personal experience with them and why should guest services do something about it when their admittance to the park is paid for and approved by VRTP management?
  22. Completely agree with everything you've said Alex. At Fright nights I had 'do u want a fast pass' screamed at me about 200 times in 4 hours. That was frustrating, but hell u just ignore it and zone if out. The holiday club staff don't follow you around, and are only in 1 area of the park. Unless u make repeated trips to WWF from other areas in the park, you won't even see them more than once
  23. You are comparing an attraction with 3 slides and a pool to an entire water park. Operation and staffing costs would inhibit combining the 2 completely and not have 'world passes'. Well, unless you wanted to put the cost up to $120-$130 for a day pass.
