  1. About time, glad to see it finally being to be removed. Hopefully something new arrives in that location for the start of Summer 2021.
  2. That’s even more barrels of assumptions. when you make too many of those you end up looking like a, well, you know how it goes...
  3. The giant chair that used to be in the chill out zone (or whatever it’s called) is now in the middle of the queue house where the turbines used to be.
  4. Is weird as it didn’t work at lunchtime.
  5. DW ones sold out overnight. None available anymore. At $50 for an annual pass that’s not surprising though
  6. Quite a large number of patches require painting still. As these are small random areas I imagine these may be areas requiring track inspection. There was a guy on a cherry picker today inspecting areas and measuring them. Not sure why but website is not allowing photos to be uploaded...
  7. I also think the type of ride also impacts on public opinion/outrage in the event of an accident/incident. Despite the fact it shouldn’t matter and from a safety and compliance standpoint there is no difference, the average Ma and Pa Public will be less outraged/shocked/enraged hearing someone was injured or killed on a rollercoaster that is high speed/intensity/inversions etc than on a fairly placid family ride you can bring your 2 year old on. that alone would have, in my opinion, caused a disparity in public sentiment if GL had of derailed versus what happened on TRR. The fact there were kids on the raft that survived made it hit home further as it made it more relatable to even those that don’t frequent parks at all. Had one of those children, god forbid, become a victim, I don’t think Dreamworld EVER recovers and probably isn’t even operating today.
  8. Because the “error” or “oversight” was markedly familiar to the type of mistake I’ve seen occur multiple times in cheap, offshore developer apps.
  9. Interesting find, but a reverse image search finds that to be an extremely common free to use stock photo for “roller coaster”. my assumption would be their cheap offshore app developer used the stock photo as a placeholder when developing something within the app and screwed up the code somehow.
  10. No, but responding in emoticons is as ridiculous as the notion that there was ever $1b in funding (or even anything near that)
  11. It’s an opinion based on what I have seen/heard/believe. I’m not gonna stake my life on it, but if I had to have a bet either way I know which way I’m leaning...
  12. It ain’t coming... not in the next decade anyway by which point it’s relevance in theme/linkage to wonderland will be long gone.
  13. What an inspired choice of name...
  14. Were you even alive then? Mid 90s to around 2001 Wonderland will always be the pinnacle for me as it was my formative years as a theme park enthusiast. I also spent most weekends and school holidays there, and the memories will stick with me forever.
  15. If they can’t keep a garden bed in a presentable condition I have serious worries about their ability to keep rides operating.
  16. I don’t know of the exact numbers, but they spent literal days trying to recreate the incident, and from my understanding were unable to such was the myriad of contributing successive factors that led to the incident.
  17. I don't think it's weird at all. If it is done right, it should be respectful, sincere, fitting and tasteful.
  18. After pleading guilty, the sentencing/penalty will be handed down very shortly (court recommenced at 12:30pm). Prosecutors have asked for a fine of between $3-4 million which DW have stated they have the immediate capacity to pay (as you'd expect). https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/police-courts/dreamworld-thunder-river-rapids-disaster-12yearolds-haunting-words/news-story/afaee97d0915cf9940679cc890a07d1c
  19. Couple from today. If I get some better ones later I’ll add as these were just taken on the way in and past the precinct entrance
  20. Nor had one of the banked corners when I was there yesterday
