Aquaman – The Exhibition at Movie World
Brad2912 replied to rac2703's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah aware of that... but you kind of stumble upon that. It’s not exacty well presented, and I’m not sure how “up to date” it is. Does it have Johnny Depp, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins & Jason Momoa”? I’m not sure but something tells me no... -

That’s a cool addition! Wish they had a permanent walk or wall of such things from all actors/actresses that film at the studio -

We could just go an entire class action against all Gold Coast theme parks for making false representations, almost become a specialty SW for wild MW for SDSC 2.0 DW for SV -
I think it will naturally be effected by the bypass. Maybe not so much as some of the smaller towns that have almost died as a result of bypasses, but it will be effected. I avoid any where that involves getting off the highway unless it’s for an overnight stay. Coffs is too close to stop at on the southern trek to Sydney, and I feel it’s almost too far to bother stopping if heading in the other direction, but hey, that’s just me and I do the entire trip in one go 90% of the time

Movie World DC Hypercoaster plus sized harness fit?

Fair call... my partner hasn’t been on it yet, I guess when I finally convince her I hope that she doesn’t have that experience! -

Not sure how something less restrictive could be considered more uncomfortable? -

Wins what? The whole “it’s just for fun & bragging rights” is BS only losers say. Like participation awards at the school cross country for the unfit lazy kids... 🙊😜

Press Release Sea World to launch new Thunder Lake Stunt Show
Brad2912 replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
where do you draw the line? Thunderbird Park is an adventure high ropes climb in Mt Tamborine. Providing there are not on TRR-esque giant tyres being pulled along the lake, I don’t think a single connection will be made by anyone. -
If it wasn’t a safety issue and was just aesthetic it would not be stopping them from registering the ride... that doesn’t mean it’s a safety floor in the ride, but it could be to do with evac routes/fire safety, fire door clearances, a plethora of things.
-
Ardent already confirmed the ride has defects that need rectifying before the ride can be registered.. I’d hazard a guess if that wasn’t the truth they’d have chosen a word other than “defect” which isn’t the kind of word you really wanna see in the same sentence as “Dreamworld ride” currently.

I agree! Out with the sad face, in with the facepalm, as let’s be honest most things on here that result in sad emojis are the result of facepalms...

Nice to see despite its defects and open-ended opening date, Sky Voyager is featured in the new Gold Coast tourism advertisement.. also included is SDSC 2.0 with all its super cool effects that are invisible when on the ride...

Oh I know all about the Floriade. Not my cup of tea, nor is it the cup of tea of the majority of the target market for our theme parks imo.. when you are performing poorly, $100k is $100k, and in my opinion could be spend far more wisely. In the absence of the train, I’d rather they buy/rent one of those trains you see going around fairs or like the one added at PC to taxi people around the park than flowers.

I reckon the Unicorn Vomit Express looks pretty cool to be honest.... reminds me of that technicolour T-shirt my Nan bought me in 1996... that shirt was a great dusting rag...
-
If they had put a flower show in as an attraction, I literally would have handed my pass back. i can accept never opening new attractions, extended downtime for rides, reduced hours and no real light at the end of the tunnel, but I draw the line at contributing to pay for f**king flowers when you can’t open your rides on time...

The wristbands have never disappeared... they just provide a free one attached to each interactive element.

Rule number one when operating a potato camera... the sun creates a shadow... spin around 180 degrees on the spot and that shadow won’t be cast onto your subject matter -

Ardent Leisure Group HY19 Financial Results
Brad2912 replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It wouldn’t be as straightforward as cutting $14k a day on operations. it would be a case of dropping a range of middle management/supervisor positions with may save $500k a year, permanently closing a couple of retail/food outlets saving $x in electricity, gas, consumables, and staffing. Closing WWW for 4/5 months you would imagine would have a large utility saving. -
HWSW's train is stuck ...
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The problem is quite a large proportion of DWs “signature” rides are at or close to retirement age. WO should be gone, TOT2 is on it’s absolute last legs (12 months tops) and you’d hope you could milk maybe 2 years out of HWSW given the extended downtime it’s had. Then you have the decision to if you keep the tower & therefore GD in place. The problem is how can a business with a strategy of non-investment afford to retire a high proportion of its fleet? Well it can’t.. so it either flogs the dead horse until the rides literally cannot run, with the associated high costs of continual maintenance & unreliability, or its just closes them, drops pricing and becomes a half day park. Either way, it’s not an attractive or long term sustainable strategy
