A casino is implausible given the situation with available licences in qld and the fact that the redevelopment of crown is Brisbane and the cruise ship proposal, each worth billions, will take the available licences over anything DW could or would ever develop even if Ardent were pouring money in. Same goes for resort accommodation. Barring the teem parks, there is no tourist like attractions to warrant it. It's 20mins from hundreds of hotels and resorts in surfers. The only thing that can return DW to its glory days would be a strategic capital investment plan delivering a number of world class attractions or rides over a period of 3-5 years, coupled with the expansion of WWW to rival WnW in terms of offerings. It's doesn't need glitzy events that draw 10,000 people for a few nights a year (Ala fright nights), it needs to deliver on its day to day operations. In saying all that, I really enjoy a day out at DW with the family, just think they could do a whole lot more

??? What if Dreamworld built an 18 story tall squirrel statue? What if they paint the entire park and every ride pink and re-name it Princessworld? Why put forward a suggestion/question and then say you don't agree with your own idea? Also, the Coomera Motel is already next to Dreamworld, and you couldnt really improve on that now could you...

Hey guys, Sorry if this has been covered previously, but cannot find the info here or on any of the websites. Do the VIP passes give u discounted access for family/friends like the DW passes do? It is a flat discount or larger in your birthday month like DW?

There is better chance of Disneyland opening on the moon than them buying Dreamworld and converting it into a Disneyland Australia. On the scale of out there ideas that ones way off scale. There also isn't as much land as there once was, with DW selling off a parcel for the Coomera town centre development which should start by years end

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

A lot of those would be re-rides, not unique visitors. 60,000 really isn't that high. That's a thousand people a day, 140 people an hour. Granted its Perth, but most GC parks would double that hourly capacity in school holidays -

Oh hell yeah, from about 10:15 til 5pm it was over the bridge and heading back towards the Flume entrance -
At WWW at the moment. Tower with The Bro and Rip has been out since about 11am. Staff at the entrance saying 'issue with water' Obviously cannot be helped, but putting a heap of pressure on the rest of the park, ridiculously hot day and would have to be close to capacity. 1.5 he wait for green room, can't movie in the wave pool. It's have first night water world tonight so guessing they are working quick to get it up and running before that

Completely agree. The $70-$75 I think was a reasonable price, but $90 is purely to drive locals and even interstate tourists into VIP holders. There was a lady on Facebook trying to sell 2 adult and 2 kids one day passes she had pre-purchased and no longer needed due to travel changes, face value on passes was well over $320. She wasn't impressed when I told her you could pretty much get the entire family annual passes for an extra $20

Finally got my first ride today. Massive lines (as to be expected), roughly an hour wait all day. They absolutely NEED to do something about the heat levels in the containers between the outside queue and the inside queue. It was only high 20s/low 30s today and we were cooking. With 40 degree temps expected this weekend, people will pass out/collapse. External Theming is amazing. Very impressed with what they achieved. Obviously a few things still missing internally - no fire or heat lamps in operation after splashdown, the windows in the queue container I'm assuming should have some projection or image behind them (or why bother with them) and are currently just black, same goes for the large window you pass before the lift hill, was some odd lighting effect here and there but nothing consistent. The ride was great albeit a little short. Good thrills, speed and the head chopper effect on the initial drop under the queue line is great, especially with the fog effect completely blinding you of what's below. We were front row and got drenched. All in all a great addition to SW, and certainly something id happily ride over and over on a quieter day! -
I caved and bought DW passes last night with the final day of renewal discounts. Starting the day tomorrow at SW for our first ride on Storm, then heading up to WWW to cool down

Do you think VRTP would consider a full theme park (ie movieworld)?? I can't see it happening with the next 5-10 years.
-
I've never bothered with them, but i can go back any weekend. If you only around for a short time, or only doing one day at DW, then i'd do it for sure

There are plenty of threads about Disney and Australian operations. It's not as simple as 'let open a Disney franchise'
-
Yeah true Ridiculous though...

Umm...Jurassic park worked because the fictional park contained REAL dinosaurs. Who would pay to sit in an automated car and look at fake dinosaurs? If it is your interest, you want to be able to take photos up close etc, see the animatronics clearly. Why is the t-Rex on the golf course - marketing. Moving it further away from the resort alienates it from most of its target market. Most people who stay at Coolum resort won't mind $100 for a family experience. It's unique and cheaper than a family trip to the movies!
-
Someone getting injured jumping over a barrier that is not on a thoroughfare thru the park would have no eligible claim for damages. Whilst inconvenient, there is a clearly marked path to be followed.
-
Id say many years without an option of a park and good timing with summer starting is more reflective of their success.
-
And to add further to that If my partner and I rocked up and were told we couldn't go in due to a full house and you rocked up in a bus/mini van and got let in due to the number in your group - I'd be pretty annoyed and want to speak to management. It's all or nothing there should be no preferential treatment for anymore. 1 out, 1 in - just wait your turn like everyone else
-
You're a wealth of knowledge....

Certainly didn't seem to be the same length at all. And everyone in our group commented 'is that it' at the end.

1. Logistical nightmare at night in terms of rider safety. Lack of lighting, no ability for ops to see the boats in the outside areas between the first drop and lift hill. Someone could get out and no-one would know the difference. 2. Proximity to the park boundary and residential zones make screams after dark frowned upon in terms of noise restrictions. 3. Being so isolated up one end of the park, require extra staff/security to monitor a big area for the sake of one attraction As for my review of White Christmas. Last years parade was much better. Was a lot shorter this year with less floats. The grandstands are an eyesore. Really take away from it all (well the main st ones anyway). The snow effects were much better and consistent. Roving entertainers better. Would love to see it open a little later than 8:30 thought. Rides til 9 and park open til 10 maybe? We got in at 5:45, took the bub on the carousel, went on GL, SE, AA, watched the parade, went on SDSC and then park was closed

I'd say Buzzsaw is as big an attraction as the Claw was. Though irrespective of that, you would think that the further we are since a "MAJOR" attraction launched the closer we are to another one?? My issue with gdalby was that he said "it looks like DW wont be introducing a major attraction for 5 years" and just wondering WHAT makes it look like that?
