  1. So long as Greg Yong has a pilot’s license
  2. There’s no way that is the Rivertown opening date, that’s under a month away & they’ve only just moved JR’s train into the station, with the building & surrounding area still very much incomplete. My guess is that it’s some one-off event like their wrestling matches or the Casey Barnes thing they just had. Which is to say, nothing all that special.
  3. This. Like, the Claw reached end-of-life, and they've actively chosen to invest in a new, extremely similar attraction to take its place & only improve the experience of OG Claw, which will only be fully realized mid-late 2025. If they weren't in it for the sake of rebuilding the park/their reputation in the eyes of guests rather than solely potential buyers, one would imagine them simply keeping the ride SBNO (like a certain other Intamin-manufactured flat ride), or replacing it with a temporary and/or lackluster addition (like a certain other retired Dreamworld flat ride). It's true that an offer could come which they can't refuse, but it doesn't seem to me like their end goal is to sell/go private (a la VRTP) anymore, and them selling the land Dreamworld sits on to a different company 'cause its value is high would indeed be the death of their recently rebranded/restructured company, and make most recent smaller-scale investments moot.
  4. Why’s it still an assumption that Dreamworld’ll be sold to a different operator? Ardent restructured their entire company to focus solely on Dreamworld/WWW (& Skypoint), selling Dreamworld would now mean the death of the company.
  5. Yeah, a retrack won’t solve its issue now w/ the new trains eliminating most related problems. Its apparent roughness is a result of the track’s profiling, which can’t be fixed nearly as easily as a running issue, and would be better off getting something new over reprofiling what they’ve got.
  6. So they do seem to have used the same platform location, and rotated it to face Main Street rather than swing adjacent to it. Should create an even better effect from there, especially with the queue entrance being framed directly underneath the swing, also facing Main St. Big fan of its presentation so far.
  7. Look, if it gets delayed it gets delayed. But, in all of the Rivertown press releases they've made so far, they have continued to explicitly state that they're on schedule for an opening later this year ('weather permitting', etc.). Harping on about how you believe it won't happen 'cause the undercover area for Murrisippi Motors's station isn't yet complete doesn't change that. I'll believe either scenario when it occurs or is otherwise confirmed, but anything remains possible until that point.. Dreamworld's been pretty good at opening new attractions on time recently, and though this is their largest project in a bit, them remaining confident that they can do the same for Rivertown throughout its construction is as good of a sign as any. Remember, the year isn't 2020, they aren't Sea World, and this isn't New Atlantis.
  8. I mean, Dreamworld has a continuously operating flying theatre in comparison to showtimes for a cartoon, a large walkthrough animal section, a sensory room, and is generally just a much more sprawling park than Movie World. I wouldn’t say I don’t prefer the atmosphere of DW (or SW, for that matter) over MW…
  9. Seems to me like the only way they could keep the current op booth is if they encroach on Shockwave (which’d then require the project to have the removal of 2 rides). Any other position, and they’d need to reorient it. As for the ride floor, that’s what the ‘Same platform location’ is referring to there, having it oriented so that the arm comes to rest at the same spot that the Claw’s does, so something like an extension to the platform could hypothetically work. If they were to shift it (second image), it would necessitate a totally new ride floor after the complete removal of Claw’s, regardless of if keeping the same location could possibly allow for that or not.
  10. One of those issues has already been addressed: The other one (elevator screens) seems to be against what they’ve shown they’re wanting to do with this redo (replacing the mirror lighting ‘effect’ on the turntable with something new, adding back show doors & enhancing/including more physical set pieces), but they could’ve been fine if done better IMO.
  11. Maybe they’ll replace it with an Intamin SurfRider
  12. That’s why locational events exist, though. There’s separate IAAPA’s for North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Middle East, etc., as well as a non-IAAPA event held yearly on the Gold Coast. Flying Dreamworld staff to Europe to experience the modern Intamin Gyro Swings that exist there (as Greg said he did) makes sense, but for the purpose of attending IAAPA, let alone to announce a Dreamworld attraction at the Intamin booth there, I still believe that choice makes less sense.
  13. All of Dreamworld’s promotional materials? Yes. Flying Greg Yong to Europe to announce it at the IAAPA Intamin Booth? Not really, no (but it shows they’ve got a good relationship ig, so hopefully that’ll be fruitful into the future).
  14. Not that I remember. “Claw Cove” is definitely a dig at themselves w/ Wipeout, but the “guest feedback” comment and the first half of their ad being a parody of SW’s Monorail closure video shows they’re having a dig at theme park players in the GC generally, not just themselves.
  15. Dreamworld hit it out the park with this one. Framing it like the monorail closure video, then the whole end bit feeling almost exactly like something someone on here'd make as a joke… points for creativity Edit: It also includes concept art of King Claw & Jungle Rush in the background And the press kit link has a new file, with a barcode that leads to this link: https://27t42s98k.monster
  16. Those are comparing their 2 modern standard heights. And, in their cases, I believe ‘ground space required’ is referring to ‘size of concrete poured for ride platform’, with the smaller model’s ‘ground space’ including the entire length and width of supports, but the larger model only being the ride platform. Smaller model (26m, Goliath) Larger model (42m, Loke) And then, comparing those 2 models to the older gen Claw, the supports of both newer types sprawl significantly wider than the Claw’s do, as the newer models are thinner at the top, meaning their supports have to be angled further outward for clearance/structural integrity, forming more of a ‘pyramid’ than the Claw’s more compact overall ‘wedge’. Or, from a front-on view that shows what I mean without the perspective issues of Google Maps getting in the way, Old Gen (Claw): VS New Gen (Goliath, same height & seating capacity as Claw):
  17. Google Maps doesn't have an overhead of a 42m Gyro Swing that's the exact same scale as The Claws is, but from an overhead of Loke at Linnanmaki at the closest scale (I believe it's a bit smaller than it would be IRL), the supports are sprawled out significantly further than The Claw's are. So, if it were to be in the same exact orientation, it would still encroach on Shockwave (which clearance wouldn't allow for without it's removal). If it was at the same rotation, but the platform was shifted further towards the path, it could work. If not, it would need to be rotated. Keep in mind, these are without any ride buildings or taking the swing clearance into account, it's just the ride hardware & platform. (Uses same platform location) (Shifted platform location) (Uses same platform location)
  18. Though that would somewhat recategorize The Claw, and therefore could be something Dreamworld wished to avoid, the most likely reason is that Intamin just doesn't make a fully inverting Gyro Swing (and their closest ride to it is the well-documented Twin Hammer). Flat rides (at least those here in AUS) should focus on being accommodating, reliable, efficient, & comfortable above all else IMO. Leave marquee record-breakers/unique concepts to the coasters, and let the flats be intermediary people eaters.
  19. Yeah, they're OTSLs, like DCR/ST, instead of the OTSRs on Claw/Superman. Not only more accommodating for taller riders, but will greatly aid the weightlessness at peak heights.
  20. Makes sense why there hasn't been any posts on their/local news's behalf, despite Greg Yong literally being in Europe for the announcement. Whatever it is, so long as it's themed at least to the same level of OG Claw (and, personally, that it hopefully isn't grey), I'm excited. Even without the added height, OTSLs are already a major enough upgrade IMO.
  21. As here, they could reorient a Giga Discovery-sized ride and fit it into OG Claw's plot without removing anything more than it itself. If a similar reorientation will be needed for King Claw, as it would still be significantly smaller than a Giga Discovery, is yet to be known, but an additional removal shouldn't be necessary.
  22. I'd keep an eye on Intamin's socials from 8:20 onwards (namely Instagram and YouTube), as any relevant concepts they've made will be posted onto them, as they've done previously for both IAAPA Europe & Orlando.
