  1. Late arriving/late being ordered… Potato/Potarto 😛 Glad to see this BEAST of machine made it onto the ride after being specified, thats a great effect. Are the lights in the tunnel now too?
  2. Im shook that what I knew to be right was indeed right
  3. Correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s physical. It’s completely easy and practical to do with a relatively small investment. Just required two things: -The correct and appropriate machine which does in fact exist -Someone to seek the expert advice, take it, and install said machine. Haze exists (it’s just the most expensive, but still nothing crazy) that gives amazing light beams but also creates zero visibility issues. The company already uses it on it’s Outback Show. And you’d need even less in Scooby.
  4. Buccaneer Bay is indeed the incarnation when the volcano was ‘added’ (in reality it was an overlay on an existing dome type structure that already had the tunnels) as were the crocodiles.
  5. The typical whiney voiced mums basement American video mentions some previously proven true information. What exactly is that? Nothing he has previously posted has been proven true so far. I think it’s speculation. This would universally make the ride more crap so why would anyone in their right mind at Cedar Fair choose to do this?
  6. Have you ever ridden Superman? On the left as you launch and clear as day when you go through the building mid ride you can see all that stuff. A big green lantern car which are usually there is pretty damn visible to any guest and breaks the theme of the ride for sure.
  7. I feel like they have been as transparent as anyone can ever reasonably expect a theme park to ever be.
  8. We are doing this and that for this date… what is more transparent? No park ever has said “ride is closed because plc had xyz fault” or “brake calipers needed adjusting”. How could any of us ever expect different in this case? Surely the scenario @webslave proposed is the most likely.
  9. I didn’t say it would take 2 years. But what if the planned closure was in 6 weeks and said ‘pump’ was going to take 10 to arrive? That’s entirely plausible. You can’t plan ahead for Covid delays on things you aren’t expecting to need. At work we plan way ahead on our usual orders because of delays. But when a customer calls and wants a specialty item it still takes 3 months to get it instead of the old days of 2 weeks. No amount of planning can change that. To be fair to the park, it’s not like we have any RIGHT to know what’s wrong. Transparent I say IS changing the year to 2025 now instead of in 18months. And of course a webite update happens in the middle of the night.
  10. Surely this is a case of discovering something not worth fixing/couldn’t be fixed quickly during regular inspections and not some big cover up. Something of this nature may be completely reliability related like a pump or something and not in any way safety related such as a piece of track to break off. Covid delays on parts/components is still a real thing every day.
  11. You've half quoted @DaptoFunlandGuy to totally change the nature of his point, don't do that, it's against the community guidelines. He's saying the argument is flawed, which it is, the tickets are not a justification for the ops to be faster.
  12. I'm thinking number 1 for sure. Anyone know a theme that would work for a Blue DC Character?
  13. Even as it is right now the area still looks pretty good.
  14. Remember Dean lives in a fantasy world where Australia is every other country
  15. It mostly comes down to the absolute hacks who had the first crack at ‘next gen’ absolutely blasting the place with massive clouds of smoke to try and see their pathetic toy lasers. This well scared off the fire people so there has been nothing since. A properly done haze will be almost undetectable and perfectly fine in there. 🤞
  16. No, so I'm not going to say DW isn't doing well. I'm just saying if someone's report IS that a park is quiet and has no lines, that's not really a good thing for the park. Where as "the place sucks because it's so popular" doesn't make for a fun day but is indicative of a healthy bottom line.
  17. So there is definitely LESS lighting in that ride than Scooby. The big difference here is the use of atmosphere. Scooby haze no smoke or haze in the high zone so the lighting effects are totally limited to what 'crap' is in the air for the light beams to hit or what they actually light up. It has been that way ever since the fire regulations crack down/the next gen rebuild. It's not that the smoke is broken or anything, it's that it's not there period. Hopefully they can get that sorted out in this period and bring back atmospheric haze in the 'disco room'. Putting a haze machine in there would instantly make the exact lighting that's in there now look 10 times better.
  18. Not being busy and having small wait times is not an indication of a park doing well. If it was busy as hell and had small waits that would be awesome, but that isn't the case. As @joz basically said, the biggest issue at MW is family rides not having enough capacity, which is also a function of not having enough family rides. Hopefully once Wizard of Oz is built the park will have 4 mass appeal family coasters in operation to greatly help this. This is one of the main reasons I thought adding a bunch of family coasters was a good idea vs a big thrill attraction.
  19. Exactly what is the agenda and the narrative? Go to the start of this thread, you’ll see that it’s about overly critical reviews being unreasonable at this time. So how is anything being changed? The fact that operations are not as efficient as they could be/we’d like them has already been covered pretty well. Would you like to start your own thread discussing how the leaders are the laziest in the company or that they only work there for notoriety? Which goal posts, agenda or narrative would be to your liking today? As apparently I know everything I’m happy to discuss any you’d like.
  20. When I go to America and order a large Big Mac Meal I get 100kg of food. When I order one in Australia I get a modest sized meal. Both things say Large Big Mac and both restaurants are the same size. The sooner you realise Australia is not other countries and keep expecting it to be the same as your experiences elsewhere you’ll have a much better time. 25 years ago Wild West had 1 1/2 waits in Christmas School Holidays. This time of year being horrible to visit Australian theme parks is nothing new.
  21. Well there is also the issue that you can bet your life that the first person they tell they have to work faster will be straight over to HR claiming they are being 'bullied' by the manager.
  22. No I wouldn’t, because a gold coast holiday is so far removed from staying jn melbourne that they aren’t comparable choices. The ‘gold coast holiday’ is a bit of an Australian institution and a lot of people want to do it. So whilst I agreed above that Reviews are important in many cases, Gold Coast Theme Parks just aren’t majorly one of them as I pretty decently explained. Do you use bad guest feedback as an opportunity to try and improve your business? 100% where reasonable you should. Are they driving or discouraging gate at the moment? Doubtful …say pitchfork again
  23. All largely irrelevant though in the unique case of the Gold Coast. The two single most determining factors for GC theme park visits are 1- Are we going to the Gold Coast? 2- Do we want to go to a theme park? Australia does not have the luxury of the large number of options in say the USA. We can’t research reviews and choose a destination based on them. In most cases people are choosing a GC holiday and then there is one option. A choice between Village and Dreamworld will be largely price/offering driven, if in fact a choice at all, many visit both. As someone who reads reviews myself I will 100% agree they matter when people are making a choice, but as I said above, there isn’t really a choice to be made in the case of GC. Adding to that, I’m sure I’m not the only one who completely discounts all 1 star reviews of anything as nonsense and tend to look for the ‘truth in the middle’ in the 2-4 star range. In no way am I suggesting (nor have I once) that our parks are perfect and should get a free pass at any negatives. I’m just saying angry typing visitors on google posting a review whilst on their way home probably shouldn’t be the measure. Just the same as when someone says “we only got 2 rides all day” we shouldn’t be taking that to mean literally 2 rides.
  24. I will never understand why people who so consistently share their seeming hatred about parks and the people who run them spend so much time visiting them 🤷‍♂️
