    I don't know any more than any other Joe Shmo on what maintenance the coaster needs and why. But I'm smart enough to work out that not one single other ride exists that fits all the categories of this thing once you consider what it is, what it's made of, the location and the fact it sits in a different regulatory framework than anything else out there comparable. So yeah I put it in a box of 1, because it is in a box of 1. I'm also smart enough to know it's not good business to keep your star player sitting on the bench, so if the ride has a certain amount of maintenance, it must need it. I fail to see why a comment like "I'm keen to know why", basically implying someone isn't prepared to accept that it's ok until they have been given what they feel is satisfactory information, is warranted. For me if the park says "This is how much maintenance it needs", which it has by scheduling it, then that's all the information I need. As someone who is no expect in the maintaining of a high speed wooden rollercoaster in Australia in 2023 who am I to question it? As for rusting... well wood doesn't rust, but it sure does bend, warp and rot, and there is also a hell of a lot of metal holding that whole thing together.

    But as I said… how many of these ‘several others’ or ‘everyone you can think of’ are located with ‘Ocean’ on two sides and in a sub tropical Australian climate? The answer is none, so not sure why it makes any sense to compare what is happening here with any other coaster. Its not like the park would WANT to have it’s drawcard attraction closed any more than is needed.

    Let’s hope they aren’t colour changing and running heaps of tacky colour patterns. Single big bold colour is a statement and looks classy and impactful. Last thing we want is a 400’ high impression of a kebab shop.

    Calm down precious, nobody is insulting you just petty personal insults. You said something silly and people are calling you out. You can write 17 pages of largely verbose information but that doesn’t change the fact that all a guest cares about is how long they have to wait for a ride. It’s pretty clear to see that’s what everyone is saying. You’re merely listing all the factors that contribute to what determines the length of that wait. WTF does Rivals Seatbelts have to do with this? And your theories that they slow ops to save on maintenance are ridiculous.

    Is it the WORST idea? Of course not. Will it DESTROY the park? Not by a mile. But is it the best investment in that area of the park, probs not. I think one of the best thing the park used to have going for it was that from out front (ie carpark) you could see all these rides running in the park and you wanted to go and get to them (Claw, Wipeout, Enterprise, etc). They've lost that. Could the Wave Swinger have been fitted into the old Wipeout area? Would that have actually been a better move along with getting rid of that bloody awful globe and bringing the fountain back to being a showpiece? It's going to make a nice new visual for sure, but let's be real, it's another park's visual they have 'borrowed'. I kinda wish they were more going with trying to restore Dreamworld's own iconic identity, and undoing all that rubbish from long before this management team. It is great they are investing, and it will look nice for sure. But given how bloody awful Movie World is with all that crap shoved at the front of the park I kinda wish they had not gone for the same.

    Late arriving/late being ordered… Potato/Potarto 😛 Glad to see this BEAST of machine made it onto the ride after being specified, thats a great effect. Are the lights in the tunnel now too?

    Correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s physical. It’s completely easy and practical to do with a relatively small investment. Just required two things: -The correct and appropriate machine which does in fact exist -Someone to seek the expert advice, take it, and install said machine. Haze exists (it’s just the most expensive, but still nothing crazy) that gives amazing light beams but also creates zero visibility issues. The company already uses it on it’s Outback Show. And you’d need even less in Scooby.

    Buccaneer Bay is indeed the incarnation when the volcano was ‘added’ (in reality it was an overlay on an existing dome type structure that already had the tunnels) as were the crocodiles.

    The typical whiney voiced mums basement American video mentions some previously proven true information. What exactly is that? Nothing he has previously posted has been proven true so far. I think it’s speculation. This would universally make the ride more crap so why would anyone in their right mind at Cedar Fair choose to do this?

    Have you ever ridden Superman? On the left as you launch and clear as day when you go through the building mid ride you can see all that stuff. A big green lantern car which are usually there is pretty damn visible to any guest and breaks the theme of the ride for sure.

    I feel like they have been as transparent as anyone can ever reasonably expect a theme park to ever be.

    We are doing this and that for this date… what is more transparent? No park ever has said “ride is closed because plc had xyz fault” or “brake calipers needed adjusting”. How could any of us ever expect different in this case? Surely the scenario @webslave proposed is the most likely.
