  1. You'll find there's colour co-ordination with the queue now, a long with red bits on the circular bit in the middle.
  2. Like Green Lantern it shuts off after a certain time at night. As for the pattern who knows, maybe an engineer played with him recently? Wouldnt it be cool if they put RGB LED Video curtains around the barrel? Could you imagine what they could do with it? #subtle Also, how good is Green Lantern's.... lantern? Some pretty slick stuff going on there.
  3. Ahhh the classic whose rides are safer debate. Carnies say their's because they take them apart so often meanwhile theme parks say their's are because they don't come apart as easily. Looking forward to seeing this thread pop up in another twelve months.
  4. Looks amazeballs... except for the multi-coloured LED strips. They make me hesitant. @djrappa, you're a man who loves disco lights, what do you think?
  5. Thanks @Jamberoo Fan, I think the sign had already cleared things up.
  6. Hey thanks for that, wow that sign certainly fills in the gaps. Did that go up recently? It looks like it's over at Ocean Parade?
  7. This got weird real quick. Back on topic, Lego... the building itself is very visually impressive from the highway. I loved lego as a kid but haven't followed it at all for many years, so what are people excited the most about? The custom brick stuff, the one-offs and rare legos?
  8. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have an average specced machine (or a Mac) and have tried to run it? Was the frame rate playable?
  9. Gotta be honest, I don't understand why they need a vineyard to hide the already functioning and decent enough looking facades? It's not like you're taking a slash in the open, there's still doors and stuff in the restrooms right? In any case, will be cool to checkout the combo of stuff opening in and around there soon. I'm guessing they'll be funnelling people back through there as an exit asap.
  10. So do we a reckon another enclosure for folks to look into ala The Lair part of Tiger Island? Maybe it's for the cougars?
  11. 100%. I don't think anyone has a problem paying decent money for a quality event, as evidenced by Fright Nights.
  12. That black frame on the right is interesting. Big billboard going somewhere?
  13. Valid point, however that's a Pandora's Box they created by themselves. If they want to keep doing high quality after hours events (and I hope they do because some of them are rippers) then don't depreciate the value of the product to the point where people expect free tickets and then we won't have this vicious cycle occurring. Take Fright Nights for example, most nights were sold out, which is a great indicator that provided you keep adding fresh new ideas to your event then people will more then likely come back. Comparatively, Carnivale.
  14. Road Runner for sure. If Dreamworld got the new Vekoma restraints and not the current headbangers, then Madagascar for sure.
  15. You know you've made it as a theme park nerd when you're comparing the quality of kid's coasters.
  16. We're comparing cheesy bread, buffets and Coffee Club food (i.e. poached eggs that come in pre-made pouches) against: Entrees Antipasto and seafood plater for two: prawns, oysters, Moreton-Bay bugs, smoked Salmon, prosciutto, salami, chorizo, pickled vegetables and assorted artisan breads. MainsRoasted beef tenderloin, potato rosti, wilted baby spinach, carrot puree and horseradish jusorBaked Atlantic salmon, wild rice, bok-choy, roasted cauliflower and lemon butter sauce. I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I think the comparison of Maccas vs. fine dining is happening here, no?
  17. Fair point. Arkham Asylum WITH VR sits above Sidewinder for sure.
  18. I've mentioned it before, but half the issue is education. Park(s) shouldn't be going "don't wory, don't worry, everything's cool, trust us" and leaving it for the media to speculate, because we all know that with no little to no information mainstream news goes a little crazy. Instead they should be going "this is why it's routine, and this is why it's safe" and treading the line more with being a little more honest in the interest of putting everyone's minds at ease and being proactive in stopping it before it spirals out of control. If you work in PR, you'd know that 99% of bad situations have a silver lining if you're proactive and not reactive. Scooby Doo's theming (or lack thereof) could be a story of how much VRTP are committed to safety and interested in keeping queues down over summer. When Storm stops on the lift hill, there's an opportunity to educate mainstream news on how sophisticated and proactive safety redundancies are on modern rides.
