Thousands of Aussies flocked to Sea World on the Gold Coast this weekend, with scenes described as “unreal” as massive queues snaked through the popular theme park.

Footage shared online showed enormous lines stretching well beyond the park’s entrance, with parents and children packed shoulder to shoulder.

One visitor, Jana Sbat, told news.com.au it took “around 40 minutes” to get into the park.

“I arrived at 10am and the rides were very busy,” she said.

Ms Sbat also revealed there was a long wait to take pictures in front of a green screen at the park’s entry.

The crowds came as Queenslanders and tourists made the most of the long weekend and school holidays.

Locals were quick to warn others against visiting during peak periods, saying they “would never go during the holiday season.”

“I would just leave. We always wait until school holidays are over,” wrote another.

“I thought it was another video of people lining up for a property in Sydney,” said a third.

“I’ve never seen Sea World so busy in my life,” weighed in another.

Just days ago, park-goers were left stranded after two rides at the popular theme park stopped working.

The Storm Coaster and the Jet Rescue stopped working in the middle of their ride, leaving people stuck as temperatures rose above 25C on Thursday afternoon.

The stoppages were due to a sensor fault and a temporary power shortage, according to Sea World.

“The guests on board exited the rides from the safe stop zones with the help of our team in around 30 minutes,” a Sea World spokesman said.

“At all times throughout the stoppage, the guests on board were safe and our team was in constant communication with them.

“The safety and well-being of our guests is our highest priority, and ride stoppages are proof that rides systems and operators are doing as they are designed and trained to do to keep our guests safe.”

A single-day ticket for a family of four will set visitors back nearly $500, not including prices once inside the park.

Slow news day. Wish they'd get rid of those green screens though.
