osmo_r 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 Just wondering if anyone knows which companies get involved in the design of rides in terms of themeing etc (rather than the 'actual' engineering of the ride)? I'm assuming each ride/attraction is individually outsourced to a company rather than an in-house design etc (as with Disney's Imagineering)?
zane 6 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I can only think if these guys: Atomiq design groupe
GoGoBoy 313 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 The Sanderson Group does a vast amount of the theming work in Australia, well at least they used to. They were the company Dreamworld used before Atomiq. They also did a large amount of the theming at Sega World in Sydney. Their website is at http://www.sandersongroup.com.au/
osmo_r 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks for the info. It's interesting. For a design company, the Sanderson Group's webpage is pretty badly designed.

osmo_r 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) That's true. That's what I love about my Disney themeing books. It helps me deal with the long wait before I get there. Best amazon.com purchase I've ever made. Edited October 12, 2007 by osmo_r
BNErider 94 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 I've got a HUGE picture of Disneyland map. It's about 1 metre by 1 metre. I think it's the map from 1992. It's very cool. Though nothing to do with themeing. Not really anything to do with themeing, but just shows the classic themes of the maps.
Gazza 1,261 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 There is an interesting site devoted to Thematic Design here: http://www.themedattraction.com/ and has plenty of stuff focused on Disney. Also, along with the other two Australian thematic design companies, another one is Can Create ( http://www.cancreate.com/ ), this was the company responsible for the Main St hot dog at DW Personally, I don't really like much of the work of any of the Australian firms, the WVTP owned parks seemed to have achieved more doing it in house. Though Thinkwell ( http://www.thinkwelldesign.com ) is a company I like the work of.
ILUV SUPERMAN ESCAPE 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 I looked at the thinkwell site and they look like someone I wouldn't mind seeing installing an attraction at movieworld.
osmo_r 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 Ahh. Forgot about www.themedattraction.com. Used to visit it all the time a few years ago. Personally, I don't really like much of the work of any of the Australian firms, the WVTP owned parks seemed to have achieved more doing it in house. What stuff has been/is designed by WVTP 'in house'? Does anyone know who was involved in the design of Scooby Doo? I'm assuming it may have been related back to the production designer of the movie? IMO, Scooby Doo has the best theming of any ride in Australia (WWF would be equal or second - though WWF's 'ride' aspect isn't as good).
