  1. Opinion is a relative thing. Not everyone has access to the wonders that are massively funded overseas parks. Adjust your expectations - by Australian standards, its pretty damn cool.

  2. Because the “error” or “oversight” was markedly familiar to the type of mistake I’ve seen occur multiple times in cheap, offshore developer apps.

  3. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Sea World is in incredible mish mash of one way paths, choke points and pointless gates. They need to connect the dots and run a path down the eastern side. Turn the boat\truck parking into a photo opportunity - i'm sure many kids would love to stand in front of the 'truck' boat for a picture. And you don't need to remove all the other infrastructure - just a simple 4-ish metre wide pathway through the middle. Walking guests past long lengths of bare hoarding doesn't seem to be an issue at the Seal exhibit behind storm, so I don't see the issue - and if they need to close the pathway for a few minutes during the stunt show it wouldn't be a big deal. Plus, put some nice imagery, educational information about the animals etc, maybe install some seats on the far (road) side facing the lake with some speakers so if people have walked down that way and gotten held up by the show, they can sit and watch the show? I'm sure these people who are actually paid to run theme parks could improve on my spitballed, spur of the moment ideas - so its definitely doable.

  5. I also think the type of ride also impacts on public opinion/outrage in the event of an accident/incident. Despite the fact it shouldn’t matter and from a safety and compliance standpoint there is no difference, the average Ma and Pa Public will be less outraged/shocked/enraged hearing someone was injured or killed on a rollercoaster that is high speed/intensity/inversions etc than on a fairly placid family ride you can bring your 2 year old on. that alone would have, in my opinion, caused a disparity in public sentiment if GL had of derailed versus what happened on TRR. The fact there were kids on the raft that survived made it hit home further as it made it more relatable to even those that don’t frequent parks at all. Had one of those children, god forbid, become a victim, I don’t think Dreamworld EVER recovers and probably isn’t even operating today.

  6. Rivals was in the pipeline long before TRR happened. That just pushed it back. From them having to rebrand the whole thing and scrap all marketing to the delays from having the Government crawling around everything for a few months while they gave the ok to Village to continue as they were.

  7. If GL happened, TRR wouldn't have. The thing about GL is that it would have happened right at the very front of the park, been just as horrific and taken out 8 people, at least TRR was hidden away within the park. Village would have had the book thrown at them but I can guarantee that a second book would have been flying for Ardent too.

  8. Management wouldn't have changed, park would have continued to go down the hill, people would have died eventually. It was a matter of time

  9. Very busy day at DW and WWW, with the carpark almost full again. This was the first time I witnessed the entry process. Red entry stairs are closed off and everyone enters towards the LEGO store. Signs are everyone telling you that you must scan the QR code and register your details before entering. But of course, this being the general public, they weren’t able to understand this simple concept. I saw heaps of people trying to walk up and the staff would have to tell them to stop and scan the code, but they still didn’t get why. They have also updated the signage within the carpark, as seen above

  11. If the containers are for the coaster construction, would they store at the furtherest way point from the site? Because otherwise they would have to move them again. Unless there isn’t currently anywhere to store them without impacting the bus station

  17. I think its safe to say that whatever happened around that funding, it isn't available anymore. No matter what they build, it will never be a 'new' wonderland - tastes and styles have changed, and any attempt to replicate what was won't be the same, so at most its going to be 'new' in name only - and to be honest, there are far better options for a new park to be themed and named without trying to piggyback onto a decades old concept. I think our best chance of a 'new' park in NSW is likely going to be coming from a larger chain - Palace, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, for example, and history has shown that long distance management doesn't seem to work too well for most of them (Palace being the exception). 'New Wonderland' is never going to happen.
