If people were still considering visiting the Gold Coast up until DW posting that they were closing, that level of stupidity is on them. Commonsense would say, don't visit due to the forecast, not what theme park announces their closure last...

Cancelled at 5pm, not returning.

Considering village's staunch opposition to closure in the face of a pandemic, I will give credit where it's due and applaud them for being so proactive in making the call ahead of time to close the parks. I've no doubt Dreamworld will do similarly - it is the smart thing to do. There is a lot of complacency out there - a bunch of folk thinking "oh it won't get this far south" or "it won't come this far in land" and these are the people who grew up in SEQ and have never seen a cyclone this far south. ...and on the flip side the amount of people flipping out and buying up all the "milk sandwich" supplies is ridiculous. Be prepared, not panicked.

I’m a roofer, and follow over 10 storm chasers,weather experts. We are close to this being quite a significant event. We are used to floods but not wind of this pace. Yes we had the Xmas storm but this is different

Yeah this is great news. Further in to the podcast the CEO also revealed further that the Alpine Coaster is set for a September 2025 opening date and that he envisages that the Big Banana Park in 10 years will have an expansion to the water park with onsite accommodation as well. He would also love to install a family coaster within that timeframe and they have plans to resurrect the Bunyip in the lake. These are exciting times for this small regional park and its great to see the investment continue to gorw with plans for the future.
