AMEN TO THAT! One of the few rides that I don't miss... Speedy's got a lot better as they changed some little things. TAZ cars... *shudders* almost as bad as parking Sam Train haha.

Buzzsaw has the first row of the 2nd carriage closed off when it's running with 1 operator so that they can cross platform sides while checking the restraints etc as it's the only safe place to do so. Park operational procedures would be in place for that, same as with Superman: Escape as the operators can only ever cross over an empty row with harnesses unlocked (to prevent a dispatch) and can't cross the very front row (in case of a fall)

Superman Escape was also in it very briefly in the clip too

Yes, he is one of the old CEO's from Wonderland Sydney from 1995 - 1998 when it was sold to Sunway Group and then he was the Managing Director for Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb. So he had nothing to do with anything that Sunway did to the park up to and including it's closure. In fact i'm also fairly sure that he was responsible for Space Probe 7 being built, which at the time was groundbreaking (Tallest freefall tower in the world when it opened, and in fact I think it was actually the first Intamin drop tower built, the only other one was Superman: Tower of Power that was also built in 1995. This would also explain all the motor issues SP7 had due to being a "prototype") So it could be interesting to see what he does in the long term. Yes in the short term it looks like a lot of cost cutting is going on, but in that time alot of repairs and cleaning up is also being done. So it could just be short term to get the park up to scratch again and then working on some capital to hopefully pull the park back up. Only time will truly tell though.

If anything, I'd like to at least see the ride neatly landscaped with some grass underneath it and some nice plants. I don't like the way that SPEED: No Limits was done (The first of 2 pictures Gazza posted) but with all the cranes it's safe to say it was still under construction. It's very easy to build a very nice looking ride that doesn't require huge amounts of theming. I mean really, look at Escape From Madagascar at Dreamworld. That ride doesn't have much theming really but they have at least made the area around the ride look nice and even under the track with the grass.
-
The ride was still largely intact around 2011, I'm going to assume that a lot of the demolition inside there was fairly recent. Obviously things like the boats and some theming was removed pretty quickly (Tree etc) but really... until they knew what they were going to do with the building / when it was needed what was the point in spending the money in removing it?

Looney Tunes river ride has indeed closed down, and is to be replaced with a new kids ride in September. You should be safe with STORM being open in Feb as it will have only been open 6 months so it would be more likely to be down later in the year. You will probably either have Jet Rescue or Sea Viper closed at that time though if anything is.

Considering they are cutting down on staff, trading hours and all sorts of things as of late... it wouldn't surprise me to be frank. When you think about it all the attractions they have built would have been quite cheap. A Zamperla Air Race would be 2mill at the most, most of the Dreamworks precinct would have been pretty cheap due to the fact it was mostly just a repaint with a few minor additions. I'd put a price tag of maybe 5mill for the whole area including Pandamonium. Shockwave would have been around the 2mill mark as well. Compared to the money that Village is investing on their rides it is entirely possible. I am also going out on a whim and saying that the new AVPX replacement would be around the 1 mill mark, and with WhiteWater World not having any work done for ages... it appears to be the path they are heading down.

The LTRR building has been used for storage for several years now (at least since 2011) in particular the storage bay. The building looks strange being gutted like that though!

No need for a travel agent at all, if you do want any help / information about gold coast hotel's i'd be more than happy to assist. Just on the JetStar price match, it's *FAIRLY* safe to say it will still be around but obviously can change. But you just need to make sure if your going to price match that it's within 1 hour either side of the cheaper flight otherwise it's not eligible for the price match. If your looking for a nice hotel that's not too expensive and close to everything i'd personally recommend either QT Gold Coast or The Outrigger. Make sure if you do end up staying at QT that you sign up for the free Rydges Priority Guest rewards program, it gets you lots of perks (Late Checkout), 20% off food and beverage etc.

Buzzsaw has been on the website for maintenance for at least 2 - 3 weeks... As far as WipeOut and Shockwave goes, rides can have unexpected faults that happen causing a temporary closure (sometimes it may not reopen for the whole day) and they may not get the time to reprint the page straight away... these things happen.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it's likely to be themed to The Walking Dead... of course Dreamworld is going to want to cash in on this franchise as much as possible.
-
How is the show stage close to the "Hub" it's at the opposite end of the park to all the DC attractions. If anything it's in the western area...

Can anyone say Tony Laffan?

Either that or it just wasn't washed in a long time I do have a funny feeling that your right as the Arkham facades would be roughly the same height as the darker colored walls on the SD warehouse.
-
The Scooby building was always there and roughly the same height as far as I'm aware. The building was modified where the lift shaft and turntables are to be slightly taller to house the mechanics required for them (Moreso the lift than turntable)

Thoughts on my latest visit to the Gold Coast

Also, the BOOST Juice bar at Dreamworld pricing is about the same as stores outside of the theme park. About $6.50 for an original (large) size juice. -
Did not see this coming {Dreamworld}

I call april fools on this... just sayin. -
There isn't camera's in those pillars... that's why the ride has staff to observe the ride... as each seat can be seen by one of the 2 staff members.

The video on Batwing must have been installed when it was down for rehab... I know they were looking at installing on ride PHOTOS for a while on the ride, but video footage is a step up and IMO I think it would be a good thing. Hopefully Batwing is not the only ride that gets this system... If you don't mind me asking, did you see how the cameras were mounted onto the ride? Did they install like a scream shield or something on the seats to mount them on or what?
-
The green lantern oath never was and never has been recited going up the lift hill... maybe you were still hearing things from being stuck in the line for too long...Also Arkham's audio has been fairly consistent since the audio was installed unlike green lemon. It hasn't had consistent audio since the 2012 flooding but it's good to see it being fixed.

It would not have been for just a paint job I can promise you that... the ride got a full cosmetic overhaul just one year ago including a paintjob...There must have been another reason for it, If it was a paintjob they would have a rough idea how long it would take and would give a timeframe not "Until further notice" that generally means that they have no idea how long it will take and is unexpected... Unless your Dreamworld who just never say how long it's going to be closed for now.

Dreamworld 5 year plan - a challenge
Spotty replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd be more game to estimate it's about 7.8m squared -
Scooby Doo does not have a weight limit for the cars, but the harness does need to lock down a few clicks to register as locked on the control panel. So either the green or white light (depending which car your in) needs to stop flashing on the console before the operator can send the car. This ride can be really hit and miss, i've seen some guests which I thought would fit easily that have not... and some guests that I thought there was no way in hell they would... and they have. As far as Tower of Terror goes, the harness is similar to Superman (the outside seats do have the arm cage which could make the ride restrictive). But i'd say you might have more luck on Superman as the seatbelt on Tower of Terror isn't extendable like Superman.
