  1. I've actually driven past a golf course and had some moron slice a ball clean over the perimeter fence and smack straight into my windscreen. Fortunately, the golf club has insurance for that, and they paid for the replacement windscreen same day. No matter how good your nets, sometimes balls will get out. Hitting a car is one thing... hitting a rider on a coaster would be disastrous given the combined speed and minimal protection. I still think these two will be very close but i'm certain VRTP has considered likely risks and designed both attractions to complement each other.
  2. Great review as always @Gazza. I'm curious about the above attraction - have you been to the Timezone at Surfers? I think they had something similar (but smaller) to this in there for a while, although i'm not sure that it's still there - is this the same thing? I must admit - targeting in Timezone was woeful also - (with only about 12 guns) so if it is the same ride system, I feel your pain.
  3. Absolutely agree. I've won things on the radio before, and then realised afterwards that I couldn't go \ had other plans, and subsequently arranged to either: relinquish them so the station could re-give them, or given them away to friends \ family online on a first-come basis. Selling them is immoral. It didn't cost you anything, why should you profit from it? I'd fully support the park trying to identify the seller (or the buyer) and cancelling the tickets or invalidating them in some way.
  4. That thought did cross my mind, but the style of writing is so very different, i'd be impressed if i was.
  5. Didn't TPAGG take over another social network a while back? didn't they hire on a bunch of people from there?
  6. At the risk of derailing the topic - Sorry I didn't see the need to start a new topic to discuss this, but feel free to move \ delete if you think appropriate Mods. Is there a reason? Yes. Take a look at your profile http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/profile/32204-ashhole157/ It shows the posts you have made, and the reputation given to those posts. The few posts you have there with positive reputation are where you've made a witty, harmless, or a genuine contribution to speculation and discussion - for example your suggestion that Clive Palmer purchased VRTP after learning of the dinosaurs at WNWS. Then theres the negative ones. There's a lot so i'll try and pick out the most demonstrative: This little gem garnered you a -8 from a wide array of the Parkz demographic. Your reply was to a person called @www worker 2.0 - a person who from past history on the boards appears to be a park employee of some standing, who has shared limited information with us previously that has turned out to be correct. Further - we all well know that employees of the park corporations are usually bound by NDA (non disclosure agreements) that could at best lose them their job and at worst see them prosecuted if they divulge things they aren't allowed to... so this "confidential information crap" as you call it is actually a pretty serious condition of employment. We are lucky enough that cryptic clues, vague descriptions and teasers make it on here well before it is publicly known. Be happy with what we're getting. (side note - i don't consider WWW's post to be an 'i know something you don't know' it was definite information of an announcement to be made shortly - and wasn't waving it in anyone's face that he knew something we did not... simply building hype. Another: You got a -10 here. You're putting the parks down for not announcing something, yet the parks have been teasing info for months both for doomsday and for the coaster. The parks have no obligation to release anything until they are ready. Your sense of entitlement is likely what scored you so low here. We all want them to tell us what is coming, but whether we agree with it or not, the parks have their own marketing teams and marketing strategies, and there's usually a reason for announcing \ not announcing something - take Sea World WILD for instance. I don't think I need to point out your worst post - but I will, gaining a -19 so far for your post of coaster track purportedly making its way down the pacific highway. Now - let's just assume for a moment that you didn't fabricate this yourself and you genuinely believed this 'mate' of yours - the parkz members here tore the picture to shreds pointing out so many reasons why it was a fake \ false description. I'm sure some of us here consider that you posted that deliberately - and I am included in that group. Unfortunately your current -61 reputation isn't doing you a lot of favours in that regard, and you're probably unlikely to be able to convince many of us otherwise. A name like 'Ashhole' whilst i'm sure is probably a clever play on words with your real name (most likely Ashley) - it only serves to further depreciate your value here - to the point I saw one member earlier refuse to use your nickname in referring to one of your posts as they felt it was offensive (despite being obvious it isn't, but is close to it) In summary - stop being a dick. Its ok to have an opinion but be prepared to justify that opinion, especially when called on it. Don't try to downplay dick moves by claiming you were sleepwalking or similar (others have tried and failed). If you're going to post something controversial - like calling out the parks for being shit on announcements in the face of them running very successful back to back campaigns for doomsday, frightnights, and no doubt #UnnamedCoaster#1 in the near future, think about the reaction you're going to get. Few people on Parkz survive with negative reputation - POP with a whopping -249 from 482 posts and Clayton with -108 from just 26 posts are both either banned, or exiled or otherwise don't come by anymore (thankfully)... ...and guess who comes in third? YOU. -62 from just 16 posts. So before you start thinking that almost 7000 other people are rude (granted most are inactive but you said everyone), take a look at the common denominator - you... and think about what you are doing to cause the negative attitude towards you.
  7. @Brad2912 - I have on good authority from several sources that TG will be between MW's driveway and AOS - putting it next to the new coaster. From what I understand it will take over the current 'dirt' carpark opposite the PC driveway next to the watertank, although how much ground it stands to take over is yet to be seen.
  8. ^far more fun to troll them and downvote their ashholeish posts.
  9. How long has that taken Richard? Just over six months it would seem. Judging by your intention to roll out another batch, it seems it would have been successful for you? Couple of things as far as feedback goes: The current shirt is super comfortable - however the solid vinyl print on the front doesn't breathe (for obvious reasons) making it a bit sweaty in hot weather. I've noticed the two-part screening isn't blending well. On my shirt - the white is peeling away from the red - the vinyl stays the same size if the shirt stretches and it forms a gap. I'd love a polo - embroidered or printed, and a long sleeve option would be great for days in the sun. Any chance we're going to see other merch items come online before our first twelve months runs out - in order to take advantage of the 'crew discounts' etc?
  10. They aren't permanent - they don't live on the poles year round - but even if that were the case - explain why they aren't on the list for Carnivale, but they are for Fright Nights? Definitely not the flame thrower dealies. It is something else.
  11. side by side comparisons are easy. Standalone without a point of reference is where it differs. I can't talk video, its not something i've particularly gotten involved in, but in terms of audio, with the proliferation of digital MP3 compressed media - the common bitrate standard found on file sharing and peer to peer networking sites was 128kbps. It was an economy bitrate in the days of dialup internet and 24 hours to download a song. Most people didn't care. Then internet speeds got faster, but many people continued to rip songs in 128kbps out of habit, or standard. You can easily hear the difference between 128 and 256. The step between 128 and 192 is less so, and 192 to 256 is almost imperceptible. I know people who can tell me (within limits) whether a radio station is broadcasting digital audio in 128 or 256, but apart from those audiophiles who are keenly tuned into it, the average punter wouldn't know the difference unless they had a side by side comparison... so in terms of video I presume this transfers over - most people who aren't 'learning the difference through experience' probably wouldn't notice the issues with 30fps consciously enough to care.
  12. Yes it's 'fire' and fire usually = pyro, but since pyrotechnics are registered with QLD govt, and since QLD govt did not list Oxenford for the month of April, I do not think the flame effects are the pyro we're talking about here.
  13. My thinking on a 'generic' VR course applying to multiple different rides is this: you don't create a video designed for one track, and then try to copy it over. Instead you create a virtual reality 'world' - a 3 dimensional space in which you can move to any part of it. They had these over a decade ago, albeit the graphics were very basic. All they then need to do is map the ride using onboard sensors to determine speed and direction, to communicate to the headsets 'where' within the virtual world you are, and which way you are facing.
  14. A big full circuit 'beast' esque coaster could utilise the land whilst still loading close to the rest of the park though.
  15. Wow. I'd expected them to theme the Corroborree VR to V8 Supercars or something. Come to think of it - that sounds like a great upgrade to the Redline simulators.
  16. Well for one, i'm glad to hear 'fast track sold out' meaning the park does have some sort of theoretical cap on how many of these things they sell, but it still seems too high. Unlimited fast track is just that - it allows people to re-ride over and over if they wish. It is painful, but this does mean those people aren't riding other rides so it all evens out I guess. I do think, by the sounds of things, that Village need to look at how many of these they sell - if they were running 2x fast track to 1x regular queue, that sounds excessive. Even Disney fastpass doesn't see that much in a row. It's disappointing - especially on peak days. On the other hand though its nice to know that park operations can be run efficiently when they want to and now it seems its just a matter of the park staffing their attractions a little better to improve those operations during quieter times.
  17. GC600 is a mixed bag. The parks do see a level of extra traffic, but for the most part the people who converge on the gold coast for the race... are there for the race...
  18. Thats the fine itself. The park will still be responsible for damages and personal injury claims - of which they've already taken full responsibility. I daresay the costs of these will far outweigh any fine.
  19. The way back machine doesn't show any 'Oxenford' locations for Pyro during the month of April. https://web.archive.org/web/20160326212229/https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/mining/explosives-fireworks/upcoming-fireworks-displays Makes me think that whatever they're planning, its not the same as Carnivale.
  20. I'm sure we'll know more than what we know now once the announcement is made. We don't even know WHAT is coming, let alone where. For example if its just a flat, we'll probably see it appear in ocean parade (again). If they start talking about full circuit coasters - there are less spots it could be and blue lagoon or big brother start to look more likely. Nobody can answer your question at this stage as we literally know only what you've already read above.
  21. It depends on what you want to do - if you're up for the ambience, and doing what you can, then play by ear. If you MUST get the mazes done, a fast track can spare you the agony of queues. Decide first if you want to do rides, as they close earlier than everything else. Most people say no point, but riding at night can be a different experience so if you don't have the opportunity to do that or haven't done it before, getting in some rides can be great. Of course the mazes and precincts are what the night is all about so do make sure you experience them too, and get in as early as you can (although it has also been said the queues really die off in the last hour too). If its a once in a.... experience - ie: you don't plan on doing it often or regularly\annually, then make sure you maximise your time by getting fast track, arriving early, planning to stay late. Also - if you drive to the park, remember that immediately after close the parking lot is hell - so plan to stay back and enjoy the atmosphere as long as possible if you're there for the whole night.
