  1. Agree it's good to see they're doing something and more great Marketing opportunities for Village. Without spending millions on a CityWalk style precinct, things like this will keep People on Village Property(s) longer, spending more $$. I would love to see WnW bring in some food truck style vendors or at least offer expanded F&B options (Polynesian style Luau?) throughout the event.
  2. What, rear projection? But I think you're sort of on to something there with access to a screen that raises up (btw is that old screen still sitting there after all these years??). New Speakers would have to be fitted as well as a new projection booth/system. I used to love all the different themed nights they once did with DiveinMovies. Some included fireworks and MW Character appearances. Relatively cheap to run and boosted both attendance and per cap spending on food etc significantly.
  3. Agreed. The restraints on Buzzsaw are too bulky and press down on my rib cage to the point where I can hardly breathe. It's also surprisingly rough for an otherwise straightforward layout. HWSW gives me a headache and the exit from the 2nd inversion hurts your lower back. Shit ride at DW and it was equally shit when at LP Sydney. My now 50 year old sister never ride another Coaster again after we did it in Sydney, so there you go. Arkham just puts a bit of pressure on your thighs upon braking. Maybe I am biased because I opened LW and have ridden that coaster more than just about anyone but since Kumbak replaced the seats and restraints I actually find it fine. Surprisingly, It's also 2nd favourite Coaster at MW for many, while detested by the rest. Definitely the most polarising major Coaster on the Coast! HWSW will go before AA does. I'd give AA 5 more years. HWSW 2-3 years tops.
  4. Well put @pin142. SV is still a great ride for what it costed compared to Disney (more than 4 times the price). Trouble with SV there really is only one best Gondola to ride in (#2 middle, ground floor). Overall the ride experience would have been way better with 4 Gondolas instead of 6 crammed in. If you have already ridden SV and not done #2 give it another go. For me, one of the highlights of the Disney ones is how the ride system itself works by launching everyone from the floor upward and forward into the screen. It's a very cool start and typical Disney "Wow" moment.
  5. Exactly @Gazza - that's why I think the old Wipeout site will be the future location of said thrill ride. Which I believe to be a flat. Albeit a good one. With SV, expansion/improvements of ABC kids world + the new Coaster (Which Greg Yong is saying is costing 30 mil), surely the next investment would be more modest, around the below 10 million mark. I believe around the opening of said new thrill/flat (2021) we will say goodbye to HWSW and a new major coaster then to be announced to open around 2023.
  6. I'd be thinking smaller scale for the yet to be announced thrill ride - still thrilling but maybe more a worthy Wipeout replacement.
  7. Absolutely @AlexB the area for the ride footprint appears to have been widened significantly. Having not visited SW for a while, can someone confirm if the land has been reclaimed north into the Dolphin Lagoon or South into the Ski Lake?
  8. Thinking waaay back to when Wipeout was built, DW started levelling the area as late as September and still had no trouble opening it well in time for the busy Xmas season. I know that was a long time ago, but remember (like Wipeout) this is an otherwise transportable pre-fabricated mid-way ride. The biggest part of it's construction is getting the site ready (level, footings placed, electrical wiring, landscaping etc). Once all is properly prepared you can expect the ride system itself will get slapped up practically overnight.
  9. The Video ran for barely a couple of minutes and was hosted by an Actor that I believe is the same Actor as the Miner you see in Lift 2 ("What y'all doin in here! (fires rifle), Damn it look what you made me do " etc..). It's also the same voice "y'all take care out there on the River" before you board.. He is standing in a street of a Ghost Town set (probably from WB's in Burbank). He tells you that you're about to enter a real Ghost town film set used in famous Western films - like the one he is standing in - and to take care because it's Haunted. He then turns and begins walking down the street and vanishes, suggesting he is a Ghost.. The Preshow video was not as bad as Lethal Weapon but still was pretty bad. It also didn't make sense with Crowd flow as People would always just line up at the doors either side and it was hard to corralle them in and shut the door behind them. Also People would often force the Automatic doors open and continually break them. The pre Video and entire ride never had anything to do with the Wild Wild West Will Smith film, thankfully so too because that flick was a stinker!
  10. Thanks @themagician for the update. The leaves and gathered dirt has been like that for years now and that's a big gripe of mine, having worked that ride waaaaay back when it first opened. I hate seeing it like this and there is no excuse for it. In the olden days there were condition reports and maintenance requests that were reported by the Ride Supervisor and signed off by Maintenance looking after the Attraction. Every ride would be experienced at least once every day. Damaged and inoperative elements would be categorized (1, 2 or 3) based on how critical the problem and would be continually reported until fixed. The Department Manager would follow up any long standing issues to put pressure on, where necessary. Clearly none of this happens anymore😒
  11. Thanks for the great report as always Gazza! Seeing pictures like this one makes me feel grateful for what we have here in Australia. At least we have to maintain our older gems such as the one's at the Luna Parks if our Parks wish to keep them operational. This err 'Monorail' looks like an accident waiting to happen.
  12. I really like the idea of this but the execution needs work. While the lights look pretty cool the head of the thing (NOT AN ANIMATRONIC BTW LOL) just sits there motionless in the dark off to the left.
  13. Screamscape have provided an excellent detailed theory on how the incident likely occured. It's pretty long so here's the link for those interested: http://screamscape.com/html/walt_disney_world_resort.htm#Skyway
  14. Do they? I don't recall seeing Dolphins in the Living Seas but for me, granted that was a thousand years ago. They definitely have Manatees. Our SW is part of a global initiative, not to mention has rescued and rehabilitated countless Marine life over the 4 decades. *Sad Story ahead.. Just the other day while taking a stroll by the water I came across a large Sea Turtle carcass, probably 50+ years old, body washed up on the shore with it's guts all hanging out and had Plastic bags all twisted inside. The Turtle's shell had been smashed at the top. From what I could tell, It had died as it entered the Channel feeding on the bloom of Jelly fish (its favourite food) and from clearly what would have been years of eating plastic bags by mistake, it was no longer able to submerge, sadly got struck by a passing boat. This was a pretty confronting reminder of what terrible damage we have done to our Oceans. While places like SW will not be there to save every Animal -not even close- I am at least grateful that we have such an organisation that is genuinely committed to Marine Life care and through education, can really help make a difference.
  15. Thanks for the update! What's with the creek water in the Main st Fountain?
  16. The Bat-shaped things look kinda fun, the rest looks, well yuk! And what is with that Dessert Bar? Have they just tossed some jelly babies over a bowl of whipped cream?
  17. Oh Joy! Decades old and still one of the greatest thrills on the midway, bar none. Not sure if we even still get the Zipper on the East Coast?
  18. Sounds like someone's been tucking into Push's Brandy Cabinet to me!
  19. Thank you, yes sorry I couldn't remember the name of it.
  20. Sorry I was referring to all of those objects around the SW pool that could be deemed as safety hazards. I don't see how the Water tower at MW is any less safe from a child running into it?
  21. I've been copping vomits and Fountains the last few days too for no good reason. Agree with @Brad2912immature turds out there marking down People's posts because they don't like them. To be fair someone has been dishing Push vomits on everything he submits. I disagree with just about everything the guy says but this emoji behaviour is petty and really a type of bullying.
  22. So explain why the SW kid's water play area exists? It has loads of (potentially hazardous?) objects. I reckon this is just an affordable filler to last until the entire Kid's area gets a much needed makeover. Something that 'should' happen toward the end of next year.
  23. Yeah it sux. Kind of like the defunct Superstar Limo Dark ride at Disney in that It leaves you feeling a bit WTF just happened? No idea why they can't at least put the Lasers back in and fill the place with fog to try and hide all the half arsed shithouseness mess but my guess is it's something to do with setting off smoke detectors and Fire Alarms throughout the building. With nearly a year on since reopening I'm losing hope on seeing our SDSC returned to former glory. I would love to be proven wrong, of course we all would. MW is overdue for doing something impressive in the way of a visual/thematic experience. Something that should very much be the type of ride they look at doing next.
  24. This at least puts the space to use but don't they already have a coffee shop across the street?
  25. Great news! Just in time for the Holidays and as the weather is heating up. This will also help with Operations by having People stacked and ready to be counted in to the pre- boarding rooms. Now if they can just add a small bit of footage somewhere that demonstrates the boarding process.
