Mystery Future Dreamworld Attraction
MickeyD replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hmmm.. 'and this time the Bushrangers will wreak havoc on the Dreamworld Express' The peeps at TPSN once again showing their age and lack of knowledge. Maybe they should consider a career at the Gold Coast Bulletin? In case you were wondering, the Bushrangers along with Ned Kelly once Hijacked the Cannonball Express daily. The Bushranger show from the banks of the Murrisippi on Captain Sturt also ran for many years after the train heist ceased way back in the 80's -
$99? I can think of plenty of better ways to spend the money, in and outside of the Park.

Oh whatti looki here?

And Oh doesn't it all just.. Contrast ..? -
So whereabouts inside the old Western Action venue is this thing going?

Considering the rest of WWW is pretty much unthemed, I wouldn't be expecting much more than some nice landscaping. My bet is for a lazy river, similar to the WnW one. The i-ride facade looks pretty uninspired but I must say it was a surprise to learn that DW's Accounting Department are also now in charge of Attraction design!

Ah Mr Jenkins.. I had all but forgotten about such dark times for DW when a used Car Salesman bought the place. Remind you of anyone?
-
@Roachie thanks so much for bringing this to us. A story that is totally underrated, have you thought about reaching a much bigger Audience with it? Also this: "but the best part [of owning it again] would be the excitement of doing it, because it was doing a beautiful thing.” - suggests to me that he still hasn't entirely ruled out the idea of buying DW back?Maybe he should get you to help him run it @Roachie?

Seems excessive unless entire sections of track are to be replaced
-
Phew, that's a relief thanks for clarifying @Brad2912😃

For those of us that still have the Unlimited memberships, can anyone answer if you still get 1 entry to FN included? I just visited the FN website and found a section 'redemptions' which seems to be the right place, until it asks you to enter a redemption code and the member numbers don't work. I have never received correspondence from VTP's that my Unlimited pass no longer includes Fright Nights, frankly this is the main reason why I have not switched over to the new Passes.

Dreamworld's Peter Brock Experience closed
MickeyD replied to webslave's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hey @Roachie as a man who knows his DW history, was the Brocks Garage originally the location of the Giltraps Auto Museum? - an upcharge of sorts that existed behind Wipeout from memory and featured all sorts of very early model cars like modelT Ford's etc. Never appealed personally but from memory it was there until late 80's /early 90's.. -
What on Earth is up with the People running our Theme Parks? Here's a start, they have no clue, that's what. Removing facade architecture that was inspired and modelled on Disney - of all People, the World Leaders and Pioneers in Theme Parks. But hey, what would they know huh?
-
Walt Disney World. Magic Kingdom to be exact. Same goes for the IMAX "Gazebo" facade which was never a feature of the original Main street USA. The original Disneyland entryway featured more angular, pointey rooftops - similar to the DW actual Train station which it was not surprisingly modeled on😃

Gotham drink refill station closes during off-peak

These cost cutting measures seem to be spinning out of control at the moment. Changes that will eventually back fire on the Operators but paying Guests also need to be telling them right now they are not happy, and why. They also need to piss off the legions of Accountants that are slowly destroying our Parks. -
Quick Dreamworld Photo Update - 3rd August, 2018
MickeyD replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yup, if it wasn't Rocky Hollow, the Cannonball Express or Murray River Steamboat, they likely were making a Bee-line for the Gumtree Gully Koala Jamboree Show.. While you are on a roll @Roachie do you have any file footage of this Classic DW Attraction to share? -
Quick Dreamworld Photo Update - 3rd August, 2018
MickeyD replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
My first ever visit to DW was probably 5 years after this photo was taken.. thanks @Roachie it proves once and for all a 'SuperTrooper' ride nearby where 'Wipeout' sits today. What I find most interesting is how enormous the Queue for IMAX was, stretching right back to the Front gate. Meanwhile a forgotten Spinner ride didn't get anywhere near the level of attention, yet somehow it became the benchmark of rides for the Park in the Future. -
It's free to get in so how is the ride offering 'bad'?
-
Are they at least painting the track?
-
But I thought the topic was about DW 'chageing' name - not "DW turned into cheap Housing Suburb"? FWIW, I'm with @Roachie on this. Dreamworld is bigger than Pancakes, twice as big as the Metre Maids and (in ernest) 3 times as big as SeaWorld. It will not disappear into the History books anytime soon and certainly not without a huge Public Fight.

Former Leyland Brothers' World 'Uluru' On Fire

Sounds like an Insurance job to me! Wouldn't be surprised if it was deliberately lit. -
It's all over the News this morning however spurred on by a GC Bulletin article that is opinion loaded as per always. There is actually no new News that has not all ready been reported here. A name change is an obvious Marketing strategy of a re-branding masterplan but like @joz said, a whole lot more is needed than just a new Name. Speaking of chageing the name, Can we please change the title? @AlexB will see this and have a melt down.

Thanks for the update @themagician! We can always count on you for bringing us the latest 😃 What a confused mess the entry area is becoming. Surely no Senior Executive could see this with their own eyes and think this looks good? Even from a revenue raising perspective it stinks. Visitors being corralled and guilted by the Park vicariously through the eyes of their Kids into buying Photos - even after leaving! Hmmm.. The whole execution is cheap and nasty. Inconvenient to Passholders and a pathetic cash grab to practially anyone else. Regardless, this is not the way a visit to a (once?) iconic Gold Coast Destination should be remembered? 😥

I love how the lighting on the ceiling is controlled to create different moods and effects. There are some really great rides and experiences - somethings which are desperately needed to balance out a certain Aussie Park that's currently too thrill heavy.
