  1. The tower will be themed to a DC comic character though, Doomsday is one of Supermans greatest villains. The superman escape and doomsday tower could follow the same story line with doomsday creating the earthquake above causing the subway to collapse and thus Superman comes to save the day, a multi-ride storyline
  2. They pushed it back to focus their efforts on building the Polar Bear Shores expansion, which was needed in a much shorter time with next to no warning (they didn't know the polar bear was pregnant until a few weeks before it gave birth, and even then it was speculation). Besides I think it worked out well having a new water coaster to open in the hit summer season, instead of the spring holiday season.
  3. Thats true, However I find it funny how the "Theme park capital of Australia" campaign is calling the Storm Coaster Australia's best rollercoaster, when no-one has even ridden it yet.
  4. Just browsing the theme park capital website I found it interesting that Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary got the #1 most popular "things to do", Dreamworld only made #7, and Tangalooma Dolphin feeding was #8 (Isn't Moreton Island part of Brisbane not the GC?), the rest of the is as follows, I found the order rather interesting myself - #1 - Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary #2 Movie World #3 Sea World #4 Tamborine Skywalk #5 Infinity Attraction #6 Natural Bridge rainforest Circuit #7 Dreamworld #8 Tangalooma Dolphin Feeding #9 Wet 'n' Wild #10 Go Karting Gold Coast
  5. What fabric are talking about? It looks like they just painted the cloaks on the statues a different colour, it doesn't look like actual fabric cloaks have been added.
  6. I'm not sure, this ad was definitely on tv this afternoon with the end saying "coming soon?" And "stay overnight from $99", which the whole point if the new campaign is to try and promote staying overnight at the coast not just day trips. Maybe this is older footage used to build hype around the new campaign coming later in the month? But it does show footage from all the major parks and other attractions on the coast in the one ad
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzIG-EC2TdM ^ Just saw the ad on TV for the first time today.
  8. Teddy was actually my school teacher in grade five
  9. I'm not too thrilled with the idea, and the thought of the two modes reminds me instantly of Pandamonium at Dreamworld - many people see it operating at full speed and don't want to ride it so they don't approach and see it has the less thrilling option. They should focus on a traditional family dark-ride - a new updated version of Looney Tunes River ride. I don't know why everyone wants a wooden coaster built - it simply won't happen the cost and maintenance is too costly and you can get a much more thrilling steel coaster for a fraction of the cost and a much smaller footprint.
  10. The Storms opening has been pushed back until December now, with the new polar bear exhibit set to open for the September school holidays instead.
  11. The bear cub is already generating a lot of excitement at sea world, my friend who works there said they have nick named the cub "chaching" because of the amount of money it has already pulled in from sales of polar bear merchandise etc, and the money it will continue to make. It has also given sea world a lot of media attention with all it's major milestones making national headlines (birth, first sounds, first steps etc.).
  12. Perhaps this thread should be renamed to do with the storm coaster and split the polar bear shores expansion posts into a separate thread? Because they are both technically sea worlds new attractions for 2013.
  13. It is two separate enclosures, the cub will never meet its father as in the wild the males will often kill the cubs.
  14. That's probably more than likely the case, I'm sure they could pull it off for the September holidays, but are choosing not to and are instead spreading out their "new" attractions. The baby polar bear was an unexpected draw card that they will choose to capitalise on heavily, they will market the cub for the September school Holidays and leave the storm coaster as the big new summer attraction.
  15. Channel 7 showed some of the construction of the new polar bear exhibit in the news this afternoon, it was part of the story if the bear cubs first steps. They said the cub will go on public display in September in the new exhibit. This along with the storm coaster will be a huge draw card for the September holidays at sea world
  16. How do you know this? It is likely that the Laser Skirmish equipment was on a long term lease to Dreamworld and that they didn't physically own the equipment. Their lease is probably now up and have decided not to renew it and go for a new concept completely. If you look at the park map on their website the AVPX building now says "Coming Soon" over it.
  17. The previous scare mazes at Dreamworld which where held at Blue Lagoon (The Mummy Live and the Freezer) where set up in the "Dream Room" tent, which has since been removed, and the Lara Croft Tomb Raider Maze was held in the building which now houses the Big Red Car Ride in Wiggles World, So the now vacant AVPX building is the logical location for the attraction.
  18. This wouldn't be for a new show, it would be actors for the new "scare maze" taking over the old AVPX attraction.
  19. Latest Nearmap image of the new Polar Bear Shores extension for the new cub
  20. Paradise country is far to small to convert into a zoo, it isn't marketed towards locals that's why we don't often here about, it is marketed mainly toward the Asian tourist market, which makes up for most of its visitor count.
  21. I personally think green lantern is a suitable theme, it fits into the surround "super hero hub", although the execution of the theme could have been much better. I think the location of the ride made for an awkward queue area that looks tacky and is hard to theme well. The other indoor queues look great i.e scooby, Arkham and justice league. Supermans queue I feel is also a bit underwhelming, the video/Audio loop is the only thing that ties that queue to the ride.
  22. 1mile = 1.6km, therefore 100 miles an hour is equal to 160km an hour. If that makes it easier to understand
  23. It would have been great to see Australia Zoo with a major expansion like this, although they did just recently open the Africa Exhibit which looks great.
  24. I agree that it will just be a standard walk-through area, but it can be done, having a vehicle seemingly pass through the animals exhibit.
