  1. As at today, half the slide is in place. Haven't had a look at splash pool or how the top level is looking, but the slide part is nearly done. Next year? Easily, but check as sometimes the waterpark is closed for a while over winter, but it is probably a pretty safe bet.
  2. Guess you haven't been to Sydney Aquarium then Honestly don't know what you mean about Shotty/Shoddy, the place appears to be exceptionally well maintained, and looks much younger then the 16 or so years old that it is. Don't know what’s wrong with it being endorsed by Olympians, or character placement that kids can relate to. I think the Nemo thing is a really smart piece of marketing; anyone whose been to the Reef side of Shark Bay (or any aquarium in the last 2 years for that matter) knows that kids are always trying to find Nemo in the tank, and get very excited when they see him (well, a clown fish). The place also boasts a pretty good line-up (as far as aquariums go) with a Seal Show, the well-done Shark Tank, Otters (Seriously, Otters rule) deep-sea fish, jellyfish as well as all the predictable assortment of reef fish, Stingrays and whatnot. The whole area is good, with some really nice little shops to grab a meal from (I had fish & chips purely for the sake of Irony) and cruises. I had a ball up there. Underwater World, is only meant to be a couple of hour’s attraction, and combined with the surrounding area is a nice relaxing day out IMHO. True if your not into marine animals you won't get as much out of it, but I reckon you'll still reckon you'll have a good time there. The Sharks and the Seals are alone worth the effort.

  4. About a 90min/2 hour drive depending on traffic. Get up to the Sunshine Coast early, and see if you can squeeze in Aussie World, Aussie Zoo, and (if its open) the Big Pineapple into one day. I'd reccomend staying up at the Sunny Coast overnight and check out all of those as well as Underwater World, as they are all good half day attractions.
  5. I can 100% assure that there was a tilt a whirl at Grundy's. I was always to scared to go on it as a kid and thought it looked cool.
  6. Its rated PG? I thought roller coasters would be pretty G material...
  7. Haven't heard of a Batman 3, though the new Bat mobile will be coming towards the end of the year. Wouldn't shock me beyond belief to get a new batman movie, as apparently the park has got rid of Mr. Freeze and co from the street parade, on account of the new movie. If the new batman franchise is a success then perhaps it’s something that could be done. Still, I'd be less surprised to see them leave Batman alone and do something different if there was to be a new simulator attraction.
  8. Not sure, be interesting to see how the recent rains/flooding have affected construction, even more so considering its at the stage where concrete is supposed to be setting.
  9. Bassed purly on reputation, Cedar Point would be the pick for me. Six Flags Great Adventure seems to have a good reputation at the moment, and has a very good ride lineup. They're the two I'd hit, though distance might be an issue. I'm sure someone else can help you out
  10. lol why didn't I see this before? I am enough of a know it all to give it a crack, and I doubt the bloke who ends up doing it knows a great deal either
  11. Come on Alex, you know full well someone would've asked had he not put that bit in. Which is also along the lines of just because you know, doesn't mean everyone does. Back on topic.
  12. I suspect this is why there are so many different versions on when the ride will open. The park IS looking to have a 'grace' period, besides tweaking finer show elements. Early December is still the latest I've heard, and so long as its all good and working fine by late December, then we shouldn't have too many worries.
  13. I don't know why I'm quoting AlexB, but after reading this new article (which was pointed out by Screamscape), I just couldn't help it...
  14. True, but this is one of the few places where all the information is together in the one place and easy to find. No harm in posting everything together in the one place. Early December is the slated opening time (for now) but things are subject to change. The expected opening date has been pushed up and down several times, so your best off just waiting until the park makes public when its meant to open.
  15. Yeah, your thinking of this ride at Six Flags World's of Adventure.
  16. Where the blue and white diamond thing in the middle of the screen is.
  17. There's a big pineapple in Gympie?
  18. Yeah, spruking is not dealing with guests. Try being the guy on Snowy getting 6 guests into a group every 30 or so seconds, loading the boats, telling people to put seatbelts on and answering guest quieres. THAT is dealing with guests.
  19. Wasn't it at TOPS in the Myer center in Brisbane? I totally agree there on two counts; one the wild mouse is well worth stopping in for on its own, and the other rides appear very well looked after. I guess when I went I was expecting something rather run down and sad looking, but the place was a real delight. Seriously, one of the best flat ride collections in Aus, wooden mouse (the first wooden coaster I've enjoyed I might add), well maintained grounds, a giant pub out the front, and the most relaxed atmosphere that has ever existed in a park, how can you go wrong?
  20. Yeah, I've stopped myself from commenting several times since the around in circles thing is kinda boring I'll leave it open in case someone else wants to join the carousel.
  21. It is sad really, when I visited the place last time I had a pretty good time. It seems as if the place has struggled to re-invent itself, and during my last visit it was like a time warp; I visited the place, which was basically identical to as I remembered it as a kid. The harvest boat ride was still the newest "ride" and only a new zoo area added down the bottom of the hill since my last visit when I was all of 7. It amazes me that the Big Pineapple is looking like closing when the rest of the Sunshine Coast is going through a tourism boom. Maybe the new Wet 'n' Wild should go there.
  22. In short, not even close. Paradise Country is closer to Wonderland's animal area, but this is a completely different concept.
  23. One thing to note is that the ops aren't allowed to tell guests whats wrong. The operator probably knew full well what was going on, but the easiest thing is to just pretend you don't know, otherwise you sound rude when you say "Yeah, I know whats wrong, but I'm not telling". A pity to see the ride go down for half the day, considering it was probably really busy yesterday with the long weekend. Probably even worthy of having 2 trains on the track, though now I think about it, its probably getting into the re-furb time of year. Around 200 per hour isn't that bad in off peak, its only when you get a busy day that a second train helps things along a bit, though I'd love to see the operators Vekoma had in mind when it claimed a capacity of 1010 (even though the train has 20 seats???)
