  1. Yeah I certainly didn’t imply the safety part. Anyone would have done what current management are doing, I mean the operations of old management really speaks for itself - I’m not looking at it from a day-to-day operations point of view but rather from a presentation and capex allocation point of view. Even old management would sprinkle in some minimal theming - look at tail spin & hot wheels as examples. How are they any different to let’s say giant drop & taipan. It’s inoffensive sure but is still quite boring, this is a theme park, not taronga zoo. It’s almost the polar opposite of what’s on offer at the spit (although general upkeep is a different story entirely) Also the budget argument is a perfectly valid point - dreamworld are spending most of the cash on Rivertown- but give me a cohesive land over an extra flat or 2 any day of the week. New rides can be added later on in a stage 2 - but you need a good foundation first before adding new stuff (and not the other way around) which is what this refresh should have been but unfortunately misses the mark in that regard slightly..
  2. It was terrible when it was new so can't imagine it later on in its life. As said previously it was the little brother to aqualoop and it showed. No back mats made it uncomfortable to ride as you felt every single transition between the slide pieces at high speed.
  3. Current management did what the pre-2016 management would have done - remove logos, repaint buildings & rides while making minimal changes and called it a day. When there is no IP and by extension no standards to follow they can do whatever they want. Hence why there are ancient chinese facades in ocean parade & fantasy buildings in kenny & belinda's dreamland. Some parts of the land are done better than others, I think the splash zone and the dodgems are done quite well but I think that the park could have little more ambitious in removing traces of dreamworks from that corner of the park to make something totally new as opposed to a debrand. All said its very clear to me they are spending the bulk of capex on rivertown and I think this will turn out much better because they're flattening abc kids world and starting from scratch, so just a case of wait and see. I am certainly optimistic for that if anything. Wizard of Oz I feel gets unfairly denigrated because one of its key coasters can be ridden in Victoria.
  4. To be fair it didn't go at the speed advertised for most of its life. Only footage i've ever seen it reaching the top is very early on in its career. Speaking of tower, why doesn't dreamworld make merch for its past attractions like other parks around the world do? I didn't see any on the website, though I haven't visited in 5 years so things could have changed since then. I bought some vintage thunderbolt and wipeout hats off marketplace the other week and they look quite good. You'd think those three rides would be great candidates for retro shirts (which is in at the moment)
  5. Surprised that they weren't sold off in that BOH auction village ran many years ago, probably a licensing thing though
  6. And made by the same manufacturer (zamperla). I believe rcdb classify the tops coaster and big red boat as belonging to the same model as well but yeah it's really a weird connection to make
  7. You can barely even see the fence on the globe and the ramp doesn't look terrible from the perspective of walking into the park i don't see how this affects photo ops etc
  8. You also have the case of having multiple parks in a single state catering to two cities. One of worlds of fun or six flags St. Louis could be sold off. Also you have two parks catering to the Philadelphia market, there’s no way Dorney’s not on the cards to get let go when you have Great Adventure not far away Knotts is for sure gone. The land it sits on is just too valuable, Magic Mountain not so much, plus knotts is landlocked and can’t expand at all. No park is too popular to kill if it’s land can be flogged off for top dollar (ie: wonderland) Six Flags America & Kings Dominion are also relatively close to each other, so the smaller park (Six Flags) could get sold off, but to another operator because zoning prevents its use for much else Six Flags is not in the best position financially and the merged company takes on everything (such as debt), so some parks will have to be cut unfortunately.
  9. Rivertown is still over a year off opening. We might see something in the half year announcements (and when maintenance dates are posted for next year) pertaining to Motocoaster potentially to make it better fit into Rivertown because they can't keep it under the generic theme for too much longer. A reminder that they didn't announce Gold Coaster's retheme until it was just starting to get underway. Could easily have the ride go down from August/September and then re-open with vintage cars & jungle rush. Keep the motorbike concept but put new fibreglass bodies to make them look like dirt bikes, repaint of track & supports & retheme of the station like gold coaster. Replacing it is a waste of time & money the ride is perfectly functional and there's ample space for new attractions to go in (which will be the priority for any capex in the future)
  10. Could theoretically be a tunnel too (which would look a lot better), but can’t exactly figure out the exact details of the drawing (because the resolution is too low) to make a conclusion on it. I’d say the track section that goes in and out of the building will do just that above the exit path (looks like it, the queue is to the left). Think Eureka and how it went in and out of the structure in the line of sight of guests.
  11. Well to be fair they probably don’t need to replace track during the dark ride section, it will only be during the mouse section where stress on the track takes place. Also this is a horrible take lol, if mouse coasters weren’t janky they’d be boring. Half of the fun of wild mice is the feeling of going off the track during the hairpin turns and the reason this one is highly regarded is because it feels that more intense and out of control because it takes place in a box
  12. It’s not summer therefore it’s off peak therefore it’s acceptable /s
  13. Looks like you go up the turntable, drop down backwards, traverse the first half of the layout backwards, go up to the turntable, go through the second bit of the layout forwards, and that’s it. Layout looks pretty short but the interaction with vintage cars is at least nice. Also looks to quite a bit of opportunity for show scenes beyond the turntable - that show building is certainly sizeable and most of that first half looks like it takes place inside it.
  14. Wooden coasters need their wood replaced all the time. Track, supports, etc. That's just how they work, it's a part of the maintenance. Wild Mouse is very old so some bits are going to need to be replaced, others restored, it won't impact on the heritage listing. Given parts of the ride are getting re-tracked I'd imagine Luna Park's either still got the plans for the wild mouse somewhere (when they bought it back from the fairgrounds) and are getting track custom built according to those plans or has studied the ride enough to make an exact 1 to 1 replica of the track.
  15. Green Lantern doing Green Lantern things. That thing breaks down constantly but people forget because Doomsday exists
  16. I sincerely hope any of the animatronics that are used for Jungle Rush aren't as atrocious as the octopus. Why doesn't it blink? Area looks fine otherwise the chinese facades don't stick out like a sore thumb like i thought they would.
  17. I think this is correct. It's all about money. Why bother implementing something that's free for people that pay north of $100 to be there when they could pay $80 for the same thing (provided VQ was used properly) when the people that visit won't return for a few years anyhow? It's a terrible decision for guests ahead of the summer peak when every major in their parks will have upwards of a 1.5hr line because Village haven't cared about their customers for years by *checks notes* running single train ops on Rivals & Superman (and presumably Leviathan during the next peak too) as well as making 5 minute dispatches the norm because managers aren't properly training their staff.
  18. No one needs it the most likely candidate would have been movie world but that’s out of the question as Scooby is getting millions thrown at it, and there will be enough family thrill coasters to go around across the majors in a year’s time anyway that sit in the same spot in a lineup as the rmc wild moose
  19. Yes because it’s the guests fault that Village bought a lemon ride which had its other example shut after not even 10 years of operation which happened prior to them even buying it. Liked that ride but unfortunately poorly designed and not even worth riding in its current state. Fingers crossed that lengthy maintenance cycle it’s got involves some blowtorch work.
  20. DC Rivals Hypercoaster eat your heart out for shittiest coaster names ever
  21. A modern flume or shoot the chutes would be nice. Something that looks less intimidating than Storm and can fit the gap between Nickelodeon & Storm/Atlantis/jet rescue perfectly
  22. Are we gonna argue Vikings was kept around so long for the same reason?
  23. again there are plenty of spaces in the park for food carts and whatever retail has in storage that doesn’t necessitate using the chinatown alley. why aren’t they here? or here. a stop gap solution. not ideal for the long term but nothing will happen to this for at least another 5 years so maybe all the crap that’s stored in the chinatown alley would fit without much inconvenience for workers? thinking outside the box why not the superman show building? this shit doesn’t cost money and could literally be done within a day. plenty of other little corners that could be used too but i can’t be asked to write them all up. making guests walk past superman and flash to get to a completely different standalone area makes no sense at all (especially as you’re supposed to see emerald city as you enter the land) neither does an obscured corner which has its access partially blocked off by a dining area.
