Dreamworld now offers passes on after pay.
Brad2912 replied to JamesBowler's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah I posted that in the dreamworld pricing thread this morning -
Have to say this is a terrific idea by DW and makes the upfront costs for families a lot more manageable

Gold Coast man rides hypercoaster 900 times JUNE 08, 2018 MOST people ride the largest rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere just once. Not Leonard Hebert, who has made it his mission to ride Movie World’s DC Hypercoaster at least 1000 times – within two months. Mr Hebert has now ridden the rollercoaster 909times and he has just one week left to hit his target. The hypercoaster raches speeds up to 115km/h and is 1.4km long and 61.6m high. The Sorrento local first decided to take out a season pass to the theme park on April 15 when he couldn’t think of anything better to do with his free time. “I had nothing else to do, so thought, just do it,” he said. So nearly every single day, the coaster-fanatic devotes up to six hours a day to his unusual hobby, happily driving the 20 minutes from his home to the theme park before heading to work later in the day. He said had visited so often that he was on friendly terms with the staff and that tourists visiting the park on seven-day passes recognised him. “Kids sometimes try and get a seat next to me,” he said. On quiet days, Mr Hebert said he could ride the hypercoaster up to 40 times, while busier days meant he could only squeeze in about 13 rides. He has also ridden the hypercoaster backwards more than 100 times at $10 a pop. Mr Hebert said his interest in the rollercoaster stemmed from his experience building and operating rides at exhibitions and shows for two or three years across Australia, including the Ekka and on Philip Island. Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chief Operating Officer, Bikash Randhawa said there had been a great repsonse to the hypercoaster since it opened late last year. “It is an incredible accomplishment for this guest to have ridden the coaster the amount of times he had, but given how much fun the ride is we can’t blame him,” he said. “We anticipate there will be a wave of guests now wanting to break this record and we look forward to welcoming them to the park.” https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/entertainment/gold-coast-local-rides-dc-hypercoaster-at-movie-world-909-times-wants-to-get-to-1000/news-story/2d497685f73e80e47a103158297d8632 909 rides on DCR in 7 weeks... thats a damn good effort, though I’m thinking Arkham Asylum may be more apt for Leonard...

For anyone interested in why the refill stations are MW are all closed & shuttered up I have the official word.. its because it’s winter and that means the park is quieter and less drinks are sold so it saves money to have them closed. go figure.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster refurb

May have decided to utilise the scooby queue area for Fright Nights again -
I don’t know what’s more amusing, the fact they made a definite improvement to the ride theming after a half year closure or the image of 3 blokes sitting around a table in an air conditioned office for 3 months while the public sweltered through summer with no water rides, only for it to get cooler and one of them had an idea “instead of turning off the water, let’s make it stronger!” they all nodded and high-5’d each other, spend 20mins adjusting the settings and re-opened the ride proud as punch. But kudos guys on a good improvement!

Someone clearly got that idea all mixed up and they closed it all summer....

If you can’t limit your drinking to when off the bus at meals and after the end of the days transit I think you may have bigger issues than an itinerary...- 42 replies

Not sure why Wipeout having maintenance done at the end of the summer holiday period is a surprise to you...

No safety feature can be based on guess work or estimation. A safety feature works on facts. You can’t just estimate a groups’ weight to let them on a ride if there is a weight limit. My estimation would be different to yours and out by potentially 100s of kgs.
-
I am not aware of any weighbridge that guests stand on prior to boarding unless this was added during recent maintenance... it was foreign to me visiting WWW recently and having groups weighed before getting on slides (admittedly it’s probably been like this for a while as I hadn’t been in quite a long time).

Movie World November 2017 Improvements
Brad2912 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lucky you... I’ve never had a Disney welcome in my life at MW, I went in at midday, when I left at 1pm was still only 1 person in and line was still to the ticket booths. MW have told me they are striving for excellence in customer service... at this point I’d accept a moderate level... -

Chalk another one down for MW’s death spiral into non-existent customer service. Just got to park, only one turnstile open on a Saturday to get in, so line back last the ticket windows (so yes for the unfortunate day trippers you walk through after getting your ticket and then have to go back behind the ticket booth to line up and enter...). Couple of people with Prams go to the turnstile clearly marked “disabled and prams entry” only to be yelled at by security that those gates are no longer used and they must join the regular queue (hmm maybe take the sign down then...). My son and I get to the front, our Membership cards don’t scan so we are informed “oh you too, these don’t seem to work anymore for anyone today - you need to go to the ticket booth inside near where the roof starts”. I incorrectly went to the guest services and was told no, it was the little booth that usually sells up sells to OA etc. No one in line which I though was great I’ll get this sorted quickly and get on with my day. I walk up, the girl is busy playing on her phone (hiding it behind the pc monitor), Looks up at me as if I’ve just annoyed her and disrupted her snapchat time, I tell her I’ve been sent here to sort my passes out, and without any thought she sternly says “well you can’t do that here, my camera doesn’t work so go back to the front” and looks back down at her phone... seriously if it wasn’t for the fact my son loves coming here, I wouldn’t step foot in the place on recent experiences. It’s truly pathetic... oh and the drink refills self-service no longer exist... both the food kiosk at entry and at Gotham burgers are now closed and shuttered up. You must line up and be served a drink. Making the already excessive queues at Gotham ridiculous and at the entry movie world has gone to shit. Rant over. -
Rooms would be my guess... as for the funhouse, my guess on that would be a retheme of Kevil Hill

Not sure Why you are assuming it has anything to do with Seaworld. There are literally hundreds of properties registered on Seaworld Drive including a shopping centre which is where i think is more likely this tenancy is fit out is for

Last minute changes to maintenance schedules (MW)?
Brad2912 replied to milesandbos's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Seems it’s hard work getting all the members of the Justice League to work at the same time... no wonder Gotham & Metropolis have such bad crime rates... -
So make a day of it? Take the kids after lunch, do the regular stuff, then stay for some of the night. Kids will like the music and roving entertainment, hopefully the food will be ok
-
Was hoping they’d do the DC heroes vs villains night parades again for the school holidays but reckon this probably puts to bed the chances of that occurring
-
Worse case scenario they just do a deal with Aeroplane and just grab some of the fish out of shark bay to put in there and have a slight name change The Aeroplane Jelly Fish Exhibit
-
MW loading and efficient can never be placed in the same thesaurus, let alone sentence...

What 10 Rides Do You Think Will Permanently Close First?
Brad2912 replied to themeparkaddict's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I’m confused as to why anyone is putting Justice League on a list of rides to close. It would be nearer to the top of my list of rides to still be in operation in a decade.. it’s near New in terms of ride age, it’s indoors so doesn’t have track weathering like a coaster in the elements, it’s light on maintenance, and could seemingly be updated without too much problem (video images etc). I’d bet JL will still exist in some compacity in 10 years. i don’t see WWF going anywhere in the next 5 years given the hole it would leave in the park, and the cost associated to demolish and level, and then replace. The only currently operating rides on the GC that I could see potentially going in the next 5 years would be Wipeout & HWSW. As for suggestions of the carousel and swing ride at DW... why? Again, limited maintenance, popular, high capacity. Not going anywhere.. -
Bahaha whilst I wouldn’t rate myself particularly highly in a rank of enthusiasts on this site, I have personally never heard of “stapling”in the way you just explained it, and it seems most haven’t. Given the OP seems like he’d struggle to spell his own name, I’m not surprised people questioned whether he meant another word altogether. This still makes no sense even with your explanation. So he wasn’t stapled today? So he went on the ride without being secured?
