Not aware of that at all. Think it was speculation -
Dreamworld - 2017 Log Ride reopening

So I can wear a camera on my head, but not a hat... stupidest thing I’ve ever heard... “Headwear is worn at the riders risk and will not be retrieved”. Simple. -
WnW buggy was new once too, but I don’t recall it getting a heap of airtime here. Is it still even running? Tbh I don’t know anyone personally that done it, or heard about it in ages. I guess out of site out of mind - bit harder to miss Top Golf

Dreamworld - 2017 Log Ride reopening

Forgot to mention in my RHLR review the other day.. strange occurance.. guy in the group in front of me was wearing a baseball cap, and a go pro with the head strap over the cap. Now I thought “oh for sure they’ll tell him to remove the go pro”. But nope, the ride attendant tells him, once he is already in the boat, “sorry mate, no hats allowed” so he off comes his hat and the go-pro, and then the ride op says “oh you can keep the go pro on your head mate, just not the hat” hmm... -
KDV Sports has a great reputation, haven’t had a chance to check it out yet myself.

I know right... i actually think they have done well with top golf. It’s had a social media presence for a few month already despite being still 4-5 months away. They’ve shown enough to keep people interested. I think they’ve done well.

Well Kingpin has only recently opened in SE QLD, and it’s all the way in Chermside. If it was located closer maybe it would have had the same reaction? In saying that, Kingpin isn’t THAT far removed from AMF. Top Golf ticks boxes as it is 1. Close to the theme parks 2. Close to the tourist centre 3. Far removed from anything else available on the GC or Brisbane 4. A fairly well known brand for those than have been to the US or have an interest in golf 5. It’s being marketed well by VTP

Dreamworld - 2017 Log Ride reopening

So had my first ride on the ‘new’ boats yesterday. Loading and unloading is painfully slow and terribly thought out. No physical barrier at the top of your stairs and ride op at the bottom constantly telling people to not stand at the top of the stairs but instead stand back before the stairs. Stupidity. Sometimes passengers desembarked in the traditional unload platform, whereas sometimes they got off on the loading spot (no idea why given only one channel/side is in operation). Boats constantly overshot the loading platform too, well not overshot it, but because of the stupid frame for the roof there wasn’t enough room between the platform barriers and the frame to get into the front seat - they literally had people getting in the back and climbing over the seat divider to get to the front! Due to the inefficient unloading - there was a constant backup of logs, and apparently no stacking/blocking design as empty boats constantly collided with boats people were attempting to climb into. all in all - it’s stupid, and whilst I am no insurance assessor, my honest belief is that there is far more chance of an injury or incident in the current form of loading than there ever was before -
Love how informative that poster is...

Songcheng Legendary Kingdom in Nerang
Brad2912 replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I believe that’s the point... everyone on the Gold Coast is well versed in the “If it’s flooded, forget it” tagline which appears everywhere during storm season. This basically is a way of using the councils own public safety campaign against the development. -

Interesting seeing these pop up around the place in the last week or so... -
Adventure World - what actually is it?

I’m going with Fun Park.... -
In news that seemed to slip thru the cracks... 2 tiger cubs were born at DW last week. Which is great news... They’ll be on public show in a few weeks when they find a way to encase them in Perspex in a way that doesn’t inhibit their walking..

Well done Macquarie... The fact at hand is that RHLR would have continued to operate on its merry way under the status quo had the TRR accident not occurred. i can also say it’s fact that had the TRR incident not occurred we wouldn’t have seen: - the side rails on the big red boat raised a good 40cm higher than they were - those ridiculous harnesses installed on Shockwave. - the new kiddie Ferris wheel being ridiculously fitted out with seatbelts and Perspex to ensure a toddler doesn’t somehow incapacitate their supervising adult, climb a cage and jump off. The relationship between the TRR incident and DW’s over-zealous safety intricacies is a cause & effect relationship - not a correlation. One wouldn’t have occurred without the other.
-
Oh... so you are saying that if the TRR incident had not occurred that RHLR would still have been shut down on 25/10/16 for 14 months? Haha... keep telling yourself that. The issues are entirely related. DW closed down and blocked off any path with eyesight of RHLR as it decided any connotation with a water based ride would be a bad impression or envoke a negative connotation for guests. It’s closure had jack all to do with its safety and everything to do with DW’s image. These ridiculous roofs, I mean “safety improvements”, are simply to appease the masses - if they were in response to the moron who fell out and nearly drowned they would have been required prior to it re-opening back in 2016.
-
Good to see they’ve included a completed Top Golf and parking
-
If the accident and fatalities had occurred on RHLR I’d probably say TRR would likely have not operated again given the scope for safety issues to occur was larger on TRR then RHLR, so they wouldn’t have taken the risk. We’ve seen it take 14 months post TRR for the log ride to open... I can only imagine the timeframe if it had been the other way around.

Play School Wheel announced - Dreamworld
Brad2912 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Quietly anticipating the “no bumping rule” on the dodgem cars - “you can dodge, but you can’t bump”. In order to safeguard people from whiplash, riders must wear headgear and only 2 cars will be allowed in the dodgem arena at any one time, and sensors will shut the ride off if one car comes within 5m of the other. Capacity maxes out at 48 riders per hour... -
