i can think of one, and only one, cloned compact thrilling coaster layout with inversions, and that one would probably end up having similar issues. -

“Following guest feedback, we have amended the operations of the Green Lantern rollercoaster to appeal more broadly to our guests. The ride vehicles will now sit stationary in the station for the ride’s duration and see the removal of all inversions and requires a minimum of 8 riders to operate. Thank you for your understanding.” -

Huh, cool. Guess they just ticked ‘em all off for the same reason I said, instead of just default having them. Learn something new, etc. -

When filing trademarks, they’re not just done in regards to specific, intentional items, they’re done based upon broader categories (or, in that case, ‘classes’). Further text is just listing examples of things that’d fall under the given category, for clarity’s sake. Same reason they’re both covered for a class that predominantly mentions educational materials, sports, and video games, as that’s the class which amusement park services fall under. ‘Flight of the Wicked Witch’ is iffy IMO, but the boomerang’s name couldn’t really be any better than that. In some ways, though, i’m more interested in seeing how ‘KT’ (assumedly) ends up than I am with ‘FotWW’, so that may just be carrying over into their names. -
The MCBR gives a pop of similar strength in both the front & back rows, they’re just reversed (front gets it when entering, back gets it when exiting). The location of the MCBR in the RideForces graph is just after the first 2 +G spikes at the halfway point in the graphs, for reference. And, if you wanted the RideForces graphs for DCR & Levi, these are the latest DCR rides I’ve recorded (November 23), in the closest to front & back rows I could get: And Leviathan (October 23), keeping in mind that force graphs for woodies have a lot more noise/margin of error due to both their roughness and it being hard to keep hands still: To show that margin of error, here are 2 other Row 11 Levi rides I had within hours of the one above: Also, should be noted, Ride Forces begins the graph whenever it believes that the ride has begun, which can alter drastically on every ride, for seemingly no reason. Like, one has decided to begin at around the disengaging of the chain, whereas the other has decided to begin around the time it first engages with it. I could edit that after the fact, to have them start at the same point, but I can’t really be bothered.

Depends on how you rank gimmick seats. In my rankings, if/when applicable, I separate them from the normal ride experience, and only group them when there’s no opportunity to not do so. If grouping, solo ST spinning seat on a hot day is a similarly chaotic experience to DCR backwards seat on a hot day, so putting them near each other in that case is understandable. As a layout, DCR is pretty objectively better, though, unless you’re a huge fan of inversions above all else.

Dreamworld Maintenance Schedule 2024
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
forgot to post photos from when i went last friday. most were of rivertown construction & didn’t really show much/are now outdated, but here’s what i got of the vintage cars site. -
they’re posting pr statements about trident stoppages now? sooner or later sw/mw’ll have 5 press releases a day about leviathan & GL respectively.
-
Good practice on MW’s part to share the true news before it’s sensationalised by the 5 o’clock programs. Part of me wishes I was there today to be on a DCR evac, though. Free ‘Lift Hill Climb’.

wizard of oz: opening whenever vrtp figures out what lsms are
-
The most surprising part about this is that they had Trident open.
-
Begs the question of how damaged it’s got (especially with it being nestled amongst many large trees), and if it passes their threshold of just not reopening it. ‘Cause I don’t believe they’ve mentioned Vintage Cars being closed due to the storm in any announcements, yet. The website does say it’s ‘under maintenance’ til the 9th, but I’m unaware if that’s a pre-storm repair schedule, or a post-storm cleanup one.

Viking’s Revenge Flume Ride Removal
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Though I agree it looks good and is a decent enough use of the land, Sea World’s the park that needs ‘areas like this’ the least, here. It’s already got the hill near the seal show stadium & layered platforms in New Atlantis for ‘picnic spots’, as well as many dedicated covered seating areas. I think the same could be said about Kickback at Dreamworld, them both being decent enough uses of space that look visually pleasant. The only differences between them that’ve altered the perception of one & not the other is that process from closure to construction/opening was much less sudden than with Wipeout, and this one offers a much needed route update for the park. In both cases, though, there definitely could have been better uses for the space, & while still retaining the route benefits of this one. -

they’re definitely still sold in the park (i believe in the lantern store), but it’s just not really ‘rivals’. like, you need to be relatively in the know to recognise that that specific design of the joker’s face is the one from the lift hill lights at the top of rivals. some designs that include the coaster itself, or at the very least its name, would be massively welcome additions. and, while i’m at it, give us a coasterdynamix nanocoaster. we’ve got the wooden levi train model, which is great, but a mini rivals nanocoaster would be perfect. am kind of excited to see what merch jungle rush’ll have, though, may be thinking too grandeose but they could do some nice looking things with that theme if they so pleased. -

Yeah, I hate to say it w/ MW being the better park in the past, and one I’ve got much more pleasant experiences with (excluding DW’s removed attractions) but they really have fallen apart recently, which has given DW the opportunity to overtake them, and (even pre-Rivertown) I believe they’ve done so in most categories. - Shows/Presentations: Tiger Island’s got HSD2 beat any day of the week, which is only one of their multiple animal presentations. Some people would love/prefer the afternoon parades & little dance routines on Main Street, but I’m not one of them. - Family Areas: Dreamland already beats Kids WB, IMO. The theming’s nicer (perhaps on account of everything not having faded due to newer refurbishment) & most/all included rides are somewhat unique, unlike Kids WB copy-pasting the same ride 3 times with a mildly different skin on each one. - Food & Drink options: DW beats MW’s offerings IMO, but if Rick’s was open more regularly, Dirty Harry’s wasn’t so expensive, and/or they offered DW’s 10% passholder discount, that could easily change. - Merchandise: Dreamworld has substantially more park-oriented designs & variety in items than MW has. However, MW also has the benefit of having tons of franchise merch, so I guess it depends there on which you’d prefer. For me, I’d prefer something about the park. - ‘Relaxing’ rides: Dreamworld’s got SV, Flyer, & the Train, whereas Movie World only has the skeletal remains of a subpar, outdated shooter. Dead to rights. - Animals: Not a contest. If you want to factor in their separately-ticketed Paradise Country, even then a comparison to DW’s Corroboree seems unfair. - Flats: Been talked about more than enough, no contest there either. - Atmosphere: DW’s much more pleasant, coherent, and the general layout’s flowy/breathable, unlike MW’s left/right intersection (or Superman), into left/right intersection (or Scooby/Doomsday). Crowds are significantly better managed, partially as a result of such. The only things MW still have over DW’d be a water ride & thrill coasters, and, with the way DW & MW are going, give ‘em 10 years & I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find DW ahead in both those aspects too. I think they’d go for the water ride first, however, and there’s many ways they could implement that (despite their obvious restrictions). -

they’re definitely willing, they’ve sold all their other properties & are all-in on DW(, WWW, & Skypoint), so they’ve got a lot of incentive to make/keep their only basket full of good eggs. money’s the issue, if they’ve got enough capital post-JR to fund these sorts of projects for a consistent period of time. -

they’d need to do a lot more koala research for that one -
New path’s almost complete, now, and it looks a lot like it’ll lead to the castle again, so I continue to wonder what its use will be. Also, they’ve added a small new planter nearby, beside a more permanent sign about loose articles on Storm. Second train wasn’t there today. They were definitely still running just the one train, but the second one was nowhere to be seen.

Elaboration about the construction It’s currently still just a large rectangular concrete slab (about the size of the Nickelodeon Store near the entrance, for reference), with no signs of footers, trenches, or anything other than the slab & a small pallet. The size is too wide, straight, and weirdly oriented to be just a path, and too long to just be a toilet block. As for the orientation, it doesn’t really seem like it’s made to face towards anything currently at New Atlantis, nor extend from the assumed continuation at the current pathway. It seems, if anything, like it’s oriented towards Jet Rescue, almost exactly facing the bridge nearby. Due to these circumstances, if I had to guess what it is, I don’t think it’s just a toilet block, but I don’t think it’s a ride either. Looks to me like it’s most likely to be a multi-purpose building of some form (probably including a toilet, like the ice cream store near Nickelodeon), connecting New Atlantis and Jet Rescue either through or alongside it. Photos: About the bridge, though, sometime between my last visit and now, they’ve boarded up the arches underneath, obstructing the view of the site that I mentioned earlier. The best angle I’ve found now, again without going on a ride, is just being tall enough to peek something over the barrier at the end of the current New Atlantis path.

With proper ground work happening now, I wonder how long it’ll be ‘til we see proper footers poured, and track/support shipments begin to arrive. Maybe sometime in January?

Decent ride, like a better Trident (both operationally and as an experience). Great for families, and for the area. Looks good, too. Wasn’t anywhere close to bad on opening day, only minorly affecting the fast pass queue. Still, shouldn’t be happening, but no one really seemed to care. Thoughts above, and

That’d be good in the short term, but it doesn’t really make a ton of sense to have a WoO store located there once the precinct opens, as it’s the opposite side of the park to the precinct’s entrance, and they’re probably gonna have a completely new one in the section itself (at that castle on the concept art). A model would be super cool, though, I really wish Australian parks did more of that sort of thing (closest we’ve got is the coasterdynamix Levi cutout). Maybe it could be extended to being just general unrepresented movies & characters, including WoO stuff for the time being, alongside other properties (Beetlejuice, Scooby (‘til it reopens), Gremlins, etc)? They would already have that with Warner Bros. Store, but that’s mainly Warner Bros. & Looney Tunes, not other properties.
