  1. World Expo Park operated for another 11 months after the close of Expo 88 (30 October 1988) closing late September 1989!
  2. Alan Griffith designed Bermuda Triangle and the ride was constructed by Alder. All were completed locally. Alder went on to design MW Germany. Much of the infrastructure for BT was based on the Lasseters (!) ride. I found some images, both internal ( a little grainy) and external circa 1988. I will scan and post next week. Was at Movieworld today, huge crowd, and extended wait times was the order of the day. As i was leaving around 5.30pm, a heavy duty crane arrived and proceeded to the LTRR area. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  3. Keith Williams, the man behind the Gold Coast's Sea World theme park and a host of other tourist developments across Queensland, has died at the age of 82. www.abc.net.au/news/2011-10-19/gold-coast-theme-park-developer-dead/3579052
  4. Gazza is right. Some houses were there before the studios and MW were built. Albeit not as populated as it is today! The fly over in the Channel 7 flashback footage shows this!
  5. The gunfight near WWF was happening when I was there in June last year!
  6. The white lions are coming from Canberra’s National Zoo and Aquarium - they currently have 8 on display!
  7. Canberra's Questacon has a few old dinosaurs available! http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local...ho/1904904.aspx
  8. You can watch it via the ACMI site: http://blog.acmi.net.au/index.php/2010/06/...mobile-arrives/
  9. Did Movieworld keep the animatronics, or did it end up in a rubbish skip?
  10. I think Dreamworld is the poorer for not keeping Eureka going. Surely an upgrade would be significantly cheaper than a new attraction in the current climate?
  11. It would seem that MV have updated their maintenance schedule again in the past 24 hours. The June period for SE has been removed! I hope this is correct, as I'm hoping to visit the parks over the June long weekend.
  12. The red car wasn't there a fortnight ago!
  13. Was that last Monday? We were in the queue when it happened. Apparently the breaking system wouldn't allow the train to return to the station and an engineer had to come in to override the sytem. They then reset and sent the train through 2 cycles before allowing passengers back on. I didn't realise Jet Rescue was down at the same time. Bermuda Triangle had issues earlier in the day too!
  14. I don't believe the revolve has ever been used for Bermuda. I do recall it was used when it was the Lassiter's Lost mine to aid in load and unload. The River Rapids at Dreamworld used to use the same system many years ago!
  15. Hi All, Does anyone have, or know who has, any plans for the River Caves ride at either the Sydney or Melbourne Luna Parks? While I have some images of the internal and external parts of the ride, it would be great, if I could get access to the rides plan. I am keen to develop a working model of the former ride. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated. Cheers, Bluman
  16. Why would they open up the upper-levels, when they have trouble securing traders for the lower ones? Hey revolutionx, where is the 'musical fountain'? Does anyone know whatever happens to any of the attractions that did exist? B
  17. Hi Guys, I'm going to play devils's advocate here! Dreamworld have decided to introduce an attraction they think will appeal to a new market, that will hopefully come to / or never have been to Dreamworld. Ally's job is to ensure that interest is generated, in turn, increasing attendances at the Park. So don't shoot the messenger!! While some of you may not agree with the introduction of / or the manner it is being marketed, there has to be a bigger picture approach here. This attraction may not appeal to theme park enthusiasts, however, the Park is trying to broaden its appeal. While I agree, there is nothing better than the introduction of a new major attraction, the introduction of the V8's may see an increase on patronage, in turn, seeing a new attraction being built in the future.
  18. Another question: what has happened to the fittings from Gremlins and also Harry Potter (eg. the train)? Has Movie World stored them; kept elements for archiving purposes; or have they disposed of them? It is something, I am curious and interested in Cheers, B
  19. As reported on Adelaide's Channel 10 News tonight; the Beach House has gone into receivership after not meeting operational expectations. One main factor, is the new ferris wheel which hasn't operated since installation, due to it not meeting Australian design standards. It is anticipated the wheel will be operational by the end of next month. The Beach House will continue to trade, especially leading into the school holidays, with operators confident, a new operator will be found.
  20. Hi Guys, I went on the Big Dipper too. While it was fun and a bit short, I thought it was quite a rough ride. Also, went on Insanity - fantastic; Power Surge, Crazy Coaster and The Haunted House. All up, I think the Adelaide show was better than previous years, though I would like to see the return of some old favourites. Eg: The Zipper I did get a photo of one of the old Mad Mouse cars (No.15) that is now in the Show Archives. Cheers, BM
  21. I went on it Wednesday. I agree very short and it is not a smooth ride - quite rough.
  22. Probably heading to the Adelaide Show on Wednesday. The new Big Dipper looks great - though I'm sure a similar version did the Melbourne show years ago, can anyone give some light on this?? Anyway, a pic from Adelaide's The Advertiser:
  23. Wont it be on the same site as 'NIghtmares'?? The Mummy Live is a strange choice? Just on aside from this - 'Prison Break Live - the riot' will be happening at the Adelaide Show. They have been advertising during Prison Break here in SA. They are claiming it is much better than last year. Aren't they the same attraction crew? While I didn't do the attraction at the Show last year, I did do it at Sydney's Luna Park earlier this year - really don't know how much more you can do with a 'walk-through'? B
  24. The geysers on WWF weren't operating on Tuesday!
