Nobody said to get untrained staff to go out and get traffic. But you could hire traffic control for about 20 years of events the park would need them for for less money and effort than redesigning the whole car park. But this is just my shallow small world view, I don't have intimate extensive experience in traffic control or know countless professionals who actively work in the highly qualified role.

See I have to say that this simply isn't true. Every single event at Boondall is parked in this exact way and works perfectly. Sometimes Police attend the end of the event to ensure the roundabout at the exit flows smoothly but that isn't what we are talking about here.
-
No well it doesn't. But getting vast amounts of people through turnstiles is kind of a known how to do thing. Even 9000 isn't many. I'm guessing that solution is just having more access lanes open for people with fast scanning?

I think DW has a pretty well designed car park, big fan of angled parking. Where this breaks down is as always, the user, the human factor. It would be like if they just opened the gates at Brisbane Entertainment centre and said "have at it peeps." As has been suggested, simple solution is to have attendants (only needs a small number) directing cars in, and filling each row, one at at a time all the way. When you leave it up to people they will naturally try to go to the next row to get a closer spot to the gate. Don't let them do that. Yes they will grumble and be pissed for a whole 5 mins when then are forced to go all the way up the back of the first row. But they'll soon forget this after a good experience follows and save a lot of the frustrations that seem to have been felt on the previous night.

Isnt a visit to Helensvale train station scary enough?
-
The point is that’s the fence. I don’t want to see some vinyl wrap that will fade/tear, etc on an awkwardly placed crappy fence. A simple timber fence would be much for fitting. Same for the bridge, why is it in raw gal? Looks temporary. It all looks crap, cheap and temporary, they can do better, and for little expense. Now if they rip all this out before opening and give it nice traditional seaside pier dressing then I’ll be the first one to say “great, nice simple touches and glad that stuff before was temporary”. But THIS, right now, looks crap. And I’m a little tired of the line the gist of which is “this area/ride/station always looked crap so it’s fitting for it to be that now.” Come on, do better. I’m not asking for Disneyland, but why must Australia constantly have the half assed version of everything when the entire rest of the world constantly shows it can be done better.

Let’s be fair, amusement park, theme park, school playground, westfield shopping centre, or whatever you want to class the place as… Unless its a temp construction site and this is backstage only then this looks SHIT! Some cream painted picket fence, burgundy trim and festoon lighting is all that was needed here. A crappy chain link fence and this horrid bridge doesn’t cut it on a heritage site.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at? The project was halted during the middle of Covid as we well know, like everything else. So of course people would have to have come here after the border was shut in March 2020. Are you implying that this isn't true and the article is making up reasons why the project is late?
-
I think its an absurd stretch to say VRTP lacked thinking by not predicting the country’s Covid response, travel restrictions and worldwide situation a hear in advance. Especially given our government didn’t even know. Come on. Given some people here insist in being pedantic about dates and times for some reason I should clarify my comments about ST delay were more meaning just they are both delayed. And given one is entirely more complex to construct than the other, its all pretty understandable.

I think something has gotten lost in translation here. The first paragraph in the article is referring to them missing the shortage of timber supply that is now the case. Ie, availability and cost. Now once you’ve bought it, getting it here is a very different story. And the logistics of shipping from Europe say to America are also very different. Likewise is bringing people in from Europe and the US. You also have to remember that Leviathan needed experts the whole way through. The other rides need some commissioning right at the end. So the two projects can’t really be compared on the above points. But FWIW ST was meant to open last month so in the end both rides will open with the same delay. So maybe we can compare after all 😛

I don’t think that MOST people will think that at all. Sure most theme park enthusiasts my think that, but majority of people visiting the park (especially those visiting from interstate) will just see a ride opening soon and be eager to get to come back and ride it. It’s not like these same people have been visiting the park for 2 years and are sick of waiting. I’d also say there will be just as many people desperate for an interstate getaway (many because they can’t afford OS trips) as there will deserting the country on the still expensive and relatively low numbered flights out of it.

Ok can we please stop saying Zero Car? A piece of decorative plastic stuck on the front of the train is NOT a Zero Car, its just a front cowling. A zero car is the extra set of bogies/ wheel assemblies/ whatever you want to call them that finish off the train on a coaster that has single axel cars. Either at the front, or at the back. Without a Zero Car attached the train can't run because the end car would be dragging along the floor. So they added a piece of decorative plastic to the train is what they did.

Your top 5 most overrated and underrated coasters/rides?
rappa replied to pazzap's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Its because its just such a non event. A huge show building that just doesn’t deliver. They really got the whole ride backwards and totally wasted the spectacular splashdown. Add to that it’s them is intentionally to look crap and it really didn’t live up to a worthy replacement. A largely unthemed but well presented version of this ride at the front of the park like originally intended would have been great. But Storm is just a kind of expensive ‘meh’ -
Rocky Hollow Log Ride Demolition - Dreamworld
rappa replied to mssveattck's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WHY WHY WHY! God just saw the cardboard and tape WWW effort before this. Like honestly, the CEO of Dreamworld has visited a lot of first rate parks in the world and knows what decent standards are. Why is soulless garbage like this going INTO the park instead of coming out. So damn sad! -

Are we starting to see the decline of VRTP?
rappa replied to Vidgamer's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Exactly, if nothing Sea World is having swags of money thrown at it. I mean is Dreamworld in decline because it closed a bunch of stuff and has no, or terrible replacements? When do we base comparisons from? Dreamworld sucks ass compared to its Golden Years right now, but we’d have to say its no longer in decline. Hell even that Golden Years page changed their name to kind of reflect that. Sea World is the same, does it suck compared to 2005? Hell yeah it does, but its been steadily improving for good while now. Same as Wet n Wild. It was stagnant but is now seeing investment. Movie World is a bit flat, but they are certainly spending money so cant really say its in decline. Are any of the GC parks at their best? Probably not, but I think they are all on the improve. Village booted the bad eggs in management they had and in place are great ones. Dreamworld has one or two passengers left that need to go, but at least what they have now is better than what they had before. -
