I also don't see why you can't have both. Like every 4th tram say could go to the spit. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Run a combination of trams that go from Broadbeach Sth to the spit and ones that only go from main beach. To to look at the system as a whole that all trams go to the same destination is probably pretty short sighted long term anyway.

Thing is if the road has to be sacrificed then so be it. Sooner or later Gold Coasters are going to have to accept they need to give up their car culture and start using public transport.

I agree, its definitely suited to the Wet n Wild park, and it's cool to see another diversified offering which doesn't really detract from the experience of anyone who doesn't want to do it at all.

I get all the arguments, and yes I read posts before I reply to them. However I think I can say with probably 99% confidence (because sometimes weird things do happen) that there is zero chance a cable car or monorail will be built. If nothing else, public objection. Regardless if right or wrong people tend to see (in this country) those modes of transport as novelty toys and won't get behind them. My argument behind trams is that as these already exist they are the closest chance you have of something being built to service the spit.

1) not part of a greater integrated transport system 2) great proportion of patrons won't want to alight the rail and change to a cable car as that's just how the public mentality works 3) private operator is not going to operate the cable car for $2 per trip which is a comparable price with the light rail 4) building the cable car will still end up costing about $100m here because construction here ends up costing you much mor than you would think.

Seeing these photos makes me think that this would surely cost millions to rebuild the themeing back to what it was... Which surely must be the plan. But it is that smart? Would that money be better invested giving the ride a new theme and thus a chance at ROI? Im sure many are attached to 'Scooby' but is that an attachment to THAT theme? Or just an immersively themed coaster?

See I actually really think the ride is meh and provides a lackluster experience, enthusiast or not. Where as I believe the mouse had a very unique and highly thrilling appeal that these spinners just don't.

People might not know a Mack from a Meisho but they sure as shit notice as soon as they ride something. To say the public doesn't notice the difference between a good quality ride and a bad one just because a ride is a ride is just silly.

The Waikiki Wave Super Flip is not a rip off of a Top Spin. It's a major advancement on the design. The articulating arm greatly increases the range of movements possible over a Top Spin and is a huge feat in engineering.

Gold Coast basically has summer for around 10.5 months of the year so...

I think most are forgetting the spit is not Sea World. It's just one thing on there. During the summer people are two and fro all day to the beach, etc. Your 11-4 time slot will be well patronized. But all these ideas seem crazy. We have the light rail. A deducted spur line is the way to go. You can move hundreds of people a minute, not dozens.
