  1. I would say the Water dump style of pool is much more expensive to both run and maintain.
  2. I think some people need to put aside their "me/my partner deserves to be able to feel/sure" viewpoint and take a short step back and look at the bigger picture here with some perspective. It's clear what was being 'meant' albeit if it wasn't eloquently written, here was that there has to be a certain expectation when you take a first responder emergency services job that you will at some point be faced with something gruesome. That's part of the role, and it would surely factor into your decision process of taking said job if you could handle that or not. That's not going to be the case for a mechanic, so if you're someone that would not deal with this kind of situation it likely wouldn't affect your decision to enter that field. It's like saying a McDonalds worker seeing someone shot in the head in a hold up should be able deal to deal with that the same as a military member enlisted for active duty. It's no slight on anyones feelings or experience, but there is 100% a "what you signed up for" situation applicable here, to think otherwise just doesn't make sense logically.
  3. Funnily enough doesn’t have to be. As a red mushroom button on a yellow background it’s requirement is that it must be an Emergency Stop (fun fact E Stop is the exact same thing Dreamworld) which must kill all energy of a device. That makes Dreamworlds bizarre panel of death all the more baffling.
  4. So firstly, a tip to all. When your post is over 2 phone screens long, people generally switch off and don’t read the whole thing... Secondly, a big of an overreaction I feel. I don’t believe anyone was being heartless and diminishing the impact this would have on trained first responders. All they were saying is at least the paramedics expect that one day they will have to see something gruesome and plan for it to some degree. A ride engineer is not going to have any thoughts on their radar they may have to attend to such a thing, so it’s bound to be more shocking. Thats all.
  5. NIce addition but makes me sad it’s another ‘undulating wave’ style pool which we have already in Australia. Would be great to see someone build a big ole water dump style pool with breaking waves like at say Typhoon Lagoon.
  6. Actually I don’t agree. Looking at the model the horizontal beams run parallel to the gondola where as if another frame went next to this they would be perpendicular. Either the rendering is innacurate or the 2nd module would be to the left or right of this with the screen where the camera is.
  7. Thats a very fancy way to write "we ran out of money"
  8. Wow it really is impressive how much they've gutted that structure... makes me think Movie World really have missed the mark all these years with redoing the old Maverick space with this kind of attraction. In other comments, that teaser is just awful. Can people stop using awful generic corporate royalty free music and get something with some excitement and feel!? https://www.parkz.com.au/forums/topic/8036-dreamworld-i-ride-flying-theatre-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=165344
  9. Its really simple. If you want to maximise capacity on SE you don't actually have to modify the ride at all. When Superman first opened it ran with about 8 operators! 1 Greeter 1 Grouper 4 Load Attendants 1 Unload Attendant 1 Panel Operator With this sort of Ops a Que back to. the start of the lockers took about 15mins to run through. Purchase a 3rd train for rebuilds so you always have 2 trains running every day and you will have crazy capacity. But mostly it's just about operations.
  10. Hang on need to back track. If Stunt Driver no longer has driving stunts... wtf is the show then?
  11. Interesting that they’ve engaged a supplier who has gone and violated their contractor induction policy right from the get go... Hardly feel that’s a back of house photo approved by VRTP marketing dept
  12. Whats that from? I'd be keen for any images anyone has of the park. Sadly anything pre mid 90s is so hard to find of anywhere. I think the park may have also gone a little bit up from the block in question too as I think the main entrance sat about mid way of 'the beach'.
  13. Pretty sure it was in this area. Which would line up with reports of it being near the footbridge on the north side (Wikipedia) and also 500m from the station (the old TV ads). I have a rough memory of it being in a culdersack so Stout Rd might be it
  14. They also removed the “fight captain” role from the department so doesn’t sound like any plans to bring those sorts of shows back.
  15. I think when you say “not the best” in reference to the exterior the actual meaning is ‘bloody awful!’ Like come on, just boarding up and flag painting existing structures for what is meant to be a permanent attraction is not really acceptable.
  16. Wet n Wild Gold Coast seems to have suffered from a real lack of love in recent years. Probably due to its poor performing sister down in Sydney. It will be interesting now that Sydney is gone, and there’s been a big shakeup in management like the departure of Greg, to see if this parks starts getting some of the focus back on it.
  17. There’s no problem about bottomless soft drinks. Part of being a responsible parent is being able to moderate the crap your kids invest against the exercise they have. And learning to actually use that so forbidden of words: “NO”
  18. With the way the dollar is tanking $25k is probably not all that unrealistic a figure presently.
  19. Don’t care how many fences etc there are, the fact it’s possible for you as a guess to see any of that Shit around the place is a bloody disgrace.
  20. Really I think it’s about saving face. By having the partnership and really pushing it helps to prevent any cries of “Sea World are exploiting Jelly Fish in disco tubes”. And if it achieves that then great. Anything to shut up the idiots. And I don’t mind having an educational part upstairs. I kind of feel Clark was right in that PCL interview in bringing all the BOH good the park does to the front. That’s only going to help curb the Sea World is evil talk.
  21. So given on a Park ride every bolt is replaced for new every time it is removed/inserted and critical pins NDTd every time they are removed... How much of a farce are these safety checks? Like these rides are literally smacked together every other week. Call it a big Nope for me getting on one.
  22. That shed is BEGGING for a Sally Ride. Said it before. Voyage to Iron Reef would actually perfectly fit here (and yes I know that's not Sally).
  23. Disney has the best loose articles policy in the world... NONE. You can take anything and everything on every ride with you. You will be shocked at what Disney does in terms of ride capacity and operations compared to EVERY (yes including Universal just up the road) other theme park in the world. Simply watching the dispatch operations at Space Mountain is an attraction in itself.
