Movieworld is a joke.

Recommended Posts

On Saturday i was talking to a lady at the front gate (Where you hand in your ticket) I asked her if SE was running 1 train or 2. She said "I think 2 trains" She also said that "SE runs every 2 mins with 2 trains and every 4 mins with 1 train. She said "yesterday (Friday) they were running 2 trains and i said i know it was awesome." Edit : I forgot to ad this photo. It was taken yesterday @ 3:00.post-538-1160557300_thumb.jpg

So they arent allowed to say "there's been a malfuntion with the 2nd train" or something simple like that?
Absolutely not. Can you not comprehend how much something like that could damage the company? Staff Member: "The second train malfunctioned." Guest #1: "Did you hear the second train crashed?" Guest #2: "Apparently someone was really hurt." Guest #3: "Yep, and blood was pouring everywhere. They died at the scene." ... Parks do not and will not answer these questions for a very good reason. It's also not always clear how long a ride (or train) will be out of operation for and what the specific reasons are. Edited by Adam

Actually that never crossed my mind but I guess you are right. I was just asking though. I also think that this site is becoming stupid...people are getting attacked for thier opinions on parks, others (rc enthusiasts) think that people who aren't crazy about coasters like them are stupid and don't know anything about coasters, which actually isn't true at all..might not know everything about coasters but we know some thing's, we know the basics of the coasters we ride. There's been more arguments on this site than discussion about our parks and the other stuff that is up for discussion in the other non-park area's. It's just so stupid, we're all on this site because we love coasters, we love the said parks, not to argue with each other and jump down each other's throats.

Yes, this has gone far enough, sure I do feel sorry for Dreamworld_Rulz here, as he has copped a bit of flack about this (partly me) But I WILL say this, if Movie World Was not running 2 trains they are either A: Very Stupid, or B: Something is wrong with train 2, I am leaning towards B. Another funny note is they seem to be using SDSC's signs lol

No-one is making an attack on anyone. Perhaps some people are just paranoid or overly sensitive. People were only trying to put across their take on things, and perhaps some people are slightly more abrupt than others. Instead of whinging about how everyone is behaving, leave it up to the moderators to 'tell posters off', or if it offends you so greatly, perhaps you might want to cease reading threads that might offend you? It could have very well been option 2 but mw are known to run 1 train on thier coasters in busy periods.

No one is making an attack? hmm I seem to remember someone calling Dreamworld_rulz a sook or saying he was whinging..isn't that attacking someone in internet terms? I'm also not whinging about how people are acting, I'm just stating that this site was made to talk about theme parks and other thing's around the world but there just seems to be alot of arguments and crap lately. It doesn't offend me either, again I was just stating something that is my opinion. I think your post actually proves what my post above is referring too, thanks. Edited by lisalila

When i started this thread i never thought it would turn out like this. I posted a complaint and get shot down. I don't travel to the theme parks during peak periods but this time i had no choice due to work. I had no idea QLD and NSW were on hols. Every time i visit the parks the most i've waited is 20 mins. I'm not used to seeing long queue's. I always visit 1 park late in the afternoon as i spend a few hours at 1 park then get a bus and visit the other park. I've never had a problem with this. Quite often i'd visit DW from 10am till 2 pm then duck over to MW and get on SE within 10-15 mins. Sometimes 5 mins. LW usually has 1 train but the wait is no more than 10 mins. SDSC can range from walk on to 10 mins. If your lucky you can get 3 rides in a row. So as you can see seeing a huge line up was a shock to the system. We all learn by our mistakes and my lesson is never visit during the peak season.

I would just like to state two things that are probably pity obvious... First Guest Releations (or any staff for that matter) are not allowed to tell you that the 2nd train is broken. Members of the general public do not have the knowledge to know that these things break all the time and thus will think the worst if told a piece of the ride is broken. We don't want guests to go thinking there are problems with the attractions in our parks as often broken automatically makes people think unsafe. So I'd say there was a problem with the 2nd train (or maybe even the transfer system, did anybody think of that?) but of course they can't tell you that. Second, nobody would have had a problem with DW Rulz post if he had put it accross in a constructive manner. But approaching it from the point of view of a park SUCKS, or IS A JOKE is just asking for trouble. I think it's his attitude as opossed to his opinion that was being questioned.

See there it goes again..you are assuming that the "general public" know nothing about roller coasters or other rides when in fact some of us general public people know a little...at least know that the term broken doesn't always mean unsafe. MW is a joke if they have two working trains but only run one on busy days (and please read: I said working)

Despite the fact that this has already gone beyond a joke, think of the following hypothetical. If your plane happens to be delayed or cancelled, airport staff will always only tell you there is a delay, or that the flight has been cancelled. They're never going to go into technical reasons about why the plane isn't able to fly. Most of the time, when you hear anything further, it's either born of rumours or media reports. When it comes to flying, I've done my fair share of it but I consider myself to be a member of the public. Therefore, if someone at the airport tells me "we can't operate your flight because we've found a technical problem with the aircraft" I'm naturally going to be wary about boarding a similar flight due to the faint possibility that the problem might also exist in the other plane. (Hehe especially on some of the dodgier US airlines!) Translate this back to the coasters. If an attendant says "SE's 2nd train isn't operation because the harnesses didn't pass their morning safety check" Then people are immediately going to assume the worst about the other train. A company, be it an airline or theme park, can not afford to differentiate between enthusiasts and other customers. I'd love to see this at an airport "Ladies and gentlemen, flight 123 is cancelled. For airline enthusiasts or industry workers - this is due to a failure in the plane's landing gear which could result in an emergency situation. For everyone else - just don't worry - you'll be fine... no huge problem" And I'm sorry, it's not a joke. There have bee countless reasons here other than train maintenance - staffing, time of day, bad estimations... running a theme park isn't as simple as saying "wow, lots of people just rocked up, lets put every train on the tracks now" And at the end of the day, this entire thread argues over the fact that somebody had to wait a pretty normal amount of time for a popular ride during school holidays.

Yes take the time to go to Guest Services or email them an make your enquiries. Don't go throwing a tantrum, that's not very mature at all.
I agree...when I visited MW with my family in april we decided to go to the SE first as we could get near to the front of the queue. They only had one train operating, but I wasn't too worried about it, as I was expecting a long wait anyway. The ride wasn't running properly and it didn't make it all the way up and over. We decided to leave the queue as we couldnt be bothered to wait around, so we joined the queue for LW. They only had one train operating because the other one wasn't working. We decided to stay, even though it was a long wait. After riding, though, my uncle went and complained at guests services and we got escorted to the front of the queue at SE :D . A handy hint to keep in mind. If I were working at MW I would be very nervous running two trains at once on such a fast ride like SE...in case a failure such as the one I mentioned occured, even though that's probably just me being my usual worrying self :P . They don't run both trains at the same time. When 1 train arrives to unload they send the 2nd train thru.

Yeah, there is something known as a "Zone Blocking System" Basically there are more sets of brakes on the track then there are trains. Each section between the brakes is known as a block. The rides monitoring system only allows one train in each block at a time (Basically to avoid one train rear ending another) If for some reason a train hasnt cleared the block ahead then the brakes will close, stopping the train behind. They wont open until the zone is clear. So for example, if one train was at the begining of the launch, it would not be able to go until the train ahead had at least cleared the unload station. This is why sometimes on Scooby Doo your car comes to an abrupt halt on sometimes, it means a car is still in the zone ahead.

I'm pretty sure this just happens if you are the the first car to enter the lift. We rode six times and the first five, there were already other people in the lift. The sixth time, we came round the corner and there were already two cars in the lift. Up it went, I guess there's a set of blocks right before it. We were worried it was going to keep going.
Reminds me of one time, when we stopped just before the last big drop in the lazer room...
My first ever ride on it, it stopped for about 30 seconds just after all the sharp turns, and yeah, it starts to roll really slowly after it gets released from the brakes, we thought something was wrong.
