King Claw - Larger Replacement Intamin Gyro Swing for Dreamworld
jhunt2 replied to Tricoart's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If the benchmark for good-natured digs is that they need to be true, then you should be totally fine with the King Claw joke. Movie World has 5 major rides under maintenance as of today, and that number has been higher recently. - Today

VRTP Ticketing Update Late 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah look - you're not wrong. They technically haven't discounted tickets during off peak because the regular day price hasn't gone down. Typically though, this time of year is when we start getting "beat the price rise" style advertisements. So they could have put all day prices up to $139 as part of their annual review of pricing, but instead they opted to keep cheaper pricing in off peak. So it sort of is, sort of isn't. -

VRTP Ticketing Update Late 2025

So day ticket pricing has fluctuated between $119-$99 over the past year with the higher prices being during holidays. This has always been a 12m ticket validity with purchase however not restricted to specific dates. I donāt think $99 is honestly value for money when half or more rides are shut/the experience offered generally outside of school holidays. I donāt see them doing it but it should be even cheaper if thatās whatās on offer. -

I donāt see it that way. Hasnāt Movie world been charging $109 for day tickets for ages (at least thatās how I remember it on my last visit 2 years ago)? have no idea when the $99 ticket came in thatās news to me. Correct me if Iām wrong but movie world was charging $109 (ie full price because it was set at that all year) for day tickets when half the park was closed in the middle of the year Juryās still out on when it gets to may/june and at least a third of the park is shut. Happy to eat my own words on that but if village was happy to charge full price for that then, I donāt see it being any different now -
Got it. DW are picking a fight with themselves because the people running DW now are the same people who were running Village parks when the slogan came about. DW according to Dapto. šā¬ WnW is the biggest and the best. WWW can't say they are the biggest and the best because WnW isn't open today. @Brad2912 I hope so because my pass runs out in a couple of weeks.

I've literally just posted screenshots showing that the price is lower outside of expected peaks...? -

I really doubt they are going to lower the price for off peak seasons. Iād guarantee theyāll keep it at $109 even when half the park is closed. This is just an exercise to grab more money off the people travelling from down south and nothing else -

I definitely have some thoughts about running a nine news story last night advertising your new attractions and that you can purchase a ticket for 99 dollars when that price isnt available once those things are actually open it seems -
𤣠it's funny you think that: -> they spend more than a moment chucking in a cheeky dig that has very little direct cost associated with it -> that this moment, or the associated minimal cost of having a signwriter paint a few words on a board that they were going to do anyway would make a real difference in the cost to operate a waterpark in the offseason. It's likely the signboard would have existed anyway, and they had to put thought into what to write on it anyway, so the fact they settled on a good natured dig at their competitor is zero additional cost or effort - unlike operating a water park at a loss.

Yep no doubt - same reason the 'gate' price is always $10 more than buying online. - Yesterday

Sorry, forum isn't letting me quote properly. Potentially this is a 'last minute' surcharge as they have already planned for staffing and getting more in on same day is harder than getting more staff for next day.

It might not be the last thing thats done as guests are sitting down, but to my understanding itās part of the boarding process. So maybe thereās are loading/boarding area, where people wait and go through metal detection while the ride is cycling. Therefore that wouldnāt slow down the boarding process and keeps things as efficient and safe as possible.
-
If you're going to do metal detectors, you can't do them "as guests board". Old mate with a belt buckle, or a metal plate in his head is going to hold up the line while they check and double check that it's not just his loose change in his pocket. Metal detectors need to either be at the entrance to the queue (Battlestar Galactica), with lockers prior to queueing, or at a mid point prior to the final load queue (flying dinosaur). This will likely turn the attraction from a capacity machine into a hobbled horse.
