  1. So I was looking through the state records and found these photos on Archives of Adventure World at the State Library of Western Australia and thought I would share them all. It amazing how much the park has changed over the last 35 years. I have found different albums from different years including construction in decent quality pictures, so I thought I would share: (Pictures sourced from http://encore.slwa.wa.gov.au/iii/encore/search/C__SAdventure World__Orightresult__U__X0?lang=eng&suite=def) 30 JUL 1982 (Construction images of the park) 1983: Opening year, not the lack of shade in the opening years. 1984: 1987: This is now the animal section of the park. This is currently were Black Widow currently is. The main castle Before they painted the boat purple. Alpine Mountain, looking way different then it does today. The main Water Mountain slides Currently where Abyss, Rampage and Goliath sit. The main pool with small trees. The old train which now sits as theming in the Gold Rush section. Paddle Boats Along with this video I found show casing some old rides they had including a Cha Cha and a spider.

  2. I think the element that annoys me most about it is the Village parks at least are pretty aggressive about putting closures on the website even if it's only for a day. DW might well be like this too but I don't follow their maintenance page, and people don't seem as focused on what they do day to day. The culture seems to be 'If there's any doubt, list it as closed, we don't want to over promise and under deliver'. Far more often than not, those rides reopen, but they're being conservative so they dont dissapoint their guests, which is totally the best way to do it. When people repost it on here, often with no follow up it creates a negative perception for the parks, and creates a disincentive for the park to do the right thing by the normal guest. I think the conservative attitude is the way to go, and I think reposting that stuff here creates a perception which is untrue and harmful. Also as noted earlier, being happy to have a ride closed rather than being unsafe is obviously not a bad thing either.

  3. So we are in agreeance @DaptoFunlandGuyDW need a flume or boat ride and not a spin and spew.

  4. If you hang around Nerang, you would know, mullets never went out of fashion @joz. With Village seasonal passes price increases, it makes sense more people than previously would do the single day entry over the season pass. I for one didn't purchase my lady a village pass this year because she would only go to the special events. I just got her a ticket to Carnival.

  5. Last week GL probably would have had my vote. Went to Gumbuya this past weekend to see Project Zero looking fresh, running better than Buzzsaw did, and doing its job as the headline thrill attraction. What was a fairly unloved attraction at Dreamworld has become an absolute crowd pleaser and an excellent addition to the park.

  6. Can you please stop derailing every thread. This is a thread about the current reliability of Leviathan, (given people are often travelling a long distance to try the new ride etc) Nobody cares about your "twitter feed" of breakdowns on a different ride at a different park.

  7. It’s more that trying to update a place like Dreamworld relying on bog standard flat rides, in the hopes that they’ll be enough to draw crowds, isn’t really the best direction for the park to be going. I’ve since moved back to Australia after a year in the US and I don’t think I could be convinced to invest in a season ticket unless they did something truly interesting. The Jungle Rush Coaster, for instance, is interesting. A Swinger ride is frankly not.

  8. Project Zero is so huge and imposing. Not many rides can have under 1000M of track and look that terrifing. It gets my vote for just looks. And it’s fun. GL is great too. I hate the exit path right next to the road though.

  9. If you think Vortex is boring compared to Wipeout then you don't want to ride one of these. They are all looks and minimal thrill.

  10. Yeah the key isn't that it's cruel because if it was it simply wouldn't be there. If the dolphins reacted negatively to it it would be gone. The point is it's not a good look.
