  1. They don’t perform, they don’t do tricks, and they’re not in the circus. They were at one point a global leader in tiger conservation, and as such none of that language would ever fly front of house or back of house. Again, from literal first hand experience I can very confidently say all of the handlers there have a profound respect for the animals, and suffice to say as a result I don’t think a single one of them is happy to see the end of their hands-on relationship with these creatures.

  2. I can have a detailed look a look for you whenever I head to the park next! I've been meaning to film the queue, so it would work out well

  3. Tiger Island's renovation was largely applauded by us all and is considered the best themed animal exhibit and one of the best themed areas in any Aussie park. Just one of that reasons for that was the consideration of sight lines. As an example Atomiq had placed a Thai temple top on the Bazaar building to give the space additional depth as you approached the main entrance. No one had done stuff like that so well in yeaaaaars. The tin shed exhibit with a painted facade that was added at the end of Tiger Island was then unequivocally panned as a giant mis-step because it was the total opposite to what came just months before, and was in no way immersive aesthetically in keeping with the brand. If it's a green tin shed on the Tiger Island side, I'll get it, it's a big space that isn't the bit that most people will see, but it'll be shit. One of the park's premiere events spaces is elevated and will be largely exposed to whatever they build over there. So if they do nothing and it's just tin shed, it'll really ruin the theme of what was previously an extremely profitable event space. Within the context of all of that, I can totally understand why people are getting the shits on how it ruins Tiger Island, especially when Dreamworld are selling it as the most themed, most immersive, most wackadoo thing ever. Sometimes I feel like it's one step forward, two steps back.

  4. May well just be me, but I do kinda like bare buildings in places where sightlines don't matter as much. It's like going to a lower budget zoo, or having views of backstage areas at both zoos and amusement parks, where you're able to appreciate the theming or 'beautification' in places it matters (like the Rivertown-facing facade, or the fake plant walls that obscure Leviathan), whilst being able to see the non-glammed parts when function takes priority over form. It's basic sightlines, but it pleases the part of me that is interested in the systems behind keeping rides operational, and the planning/design that goes into them.

  5. DW tried to save money in the most important stage of the project, and it shows. @Tricoart

  6. More complicated than FotWW, or than JuR? 'Cause both FotWW and KT's ride envelopes are mostly just affected by their ride buildings, and out of the 2, FotWW seems to have the simpler (and earlier completed) building. JuR, however, is intertwined with pathways & Murrisippi Motors, as well as having a more complicated building than both of them.

  7. Do remind me when DW promised a full temple, cause I've been following this since the conception, and i dont remember that being promised.

  8. So far everyone has talked about how shit it is without knowing how it's going to be finished. And I'm not seeing many suggestions on how to finish it off? I've got one - Given how Tiger Island itself hid the non-themed parts of buildings, maybe they could head down to bunnings for a couple rolls of bamboo fencing, and everyone would be happy, yeah? Exactly, though given the progress, it would seem as though they aren't panelling the shed in the same way as the front of the temple, so I get the concerns - but it's still an unfinished job, and you know what they say about showing fools.

  9. Those people being a few in this isolated forum getting disappointed by photos of unfinished construction. We still do not know what it will look like once it is completed, if/how it could be obscured, or what its general reception will be.

  10. From Movie World's Facebook and Instagram: The Kansas Twister's trains are now being installed!

  11. Same honestly, why waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on extra themed exterior panels for an angle barely anyone will be able to see from inside the land. We also don't know if they have any plans for something back there that the train might be able to see. Maybe they can put a glass viewing window into the Tiger enclosure?

  12. Of course it's not, but if Village using obnoxious sheds is excusable because it kinda matches what Movie World used to be, Dreamworld using green paint instead of detailed facades on the less important sightlines should be given at least that same treatment.

  13. When Dreamworld first opened, it was all about being Australia's Disneyland. Does that make green sheds fine too? Point being, even the most themed parks have some green sheds. It's all about catering to sightlines, and if the sightline that matters looks as good as it's shaping up to be, green walls elsewhere are excusable.

  14. And at least they have made the shed green which blends in with the trees behind it (cough cough Village). Its not the best, but its better than a white shed.

  15. Separating an aggressive dog from it's victim is done by whatever method is available. If a dog has a collar you would restrain it by its collar. But if you could only reach the tail, it would be an acceptable method to avoid the dog being violent. It is not a standard treatment, but a method of last resort. Choice of words intended to be inflammatory aren't helpful either. 'hitting it on the face' sounds much worse than 'open hand taps to the facial area' http://dogscience.org/workshop/cortap.shtml I can't believe we're re-agitating a 7 year old incident and trying to misinterpret actions by trained professionals to suggest the animals suffer worse treatment out of the public eye and imply it is the reason for another incident without knowing any of the circumstances.

  16. Thats where you can do what Disney (Or Plopsaland as i discovered last week ) does and have themed tunnels with dioramas or whatever.

  17. @DaptoFunlandGuy Since the gates opened today, Vortex has been showing as open. Whatever reason it was showing to be down, looks like to of been rectified before opening. People need to give the parks, a sec, to fix the problem.
