The work now necessary may not have been apparent back in 2011 when they started the retheme. That's 5 years ago now. Plus the burnt out structure may have been ok, but by enclosing it, perhaps it catches the wind more, and this has placed extra stress on it. After reviewing the nearmap photos, I am absolutely certain that they used the existing tower structure, and added to it. Remember although it looks flimsy, the internal structure is a series of heavy I-beams, usually visible only to riders as they fly through that section of the coaster - however that structure has weathered the storm since the ride first opened, and may be in need of some love. To be honest, i'm thinking that when they had the facades done for the new DD, they probably figured the additional cost of redoing the ones for arkham in perhaps better quality \ more realism etc was a minimal extra and had them both done at the same time. There may be nothing structurally wrong here and they're just redoing the facade with much better quality.

I think we've already seen photos of the 3D buildings they're constructing around the plaza. The 2d mural is obviously just the far background, to blend what's in the foreground. As for the Arkham tower, i'm pretty sure LW had a similar structure in place, and the Arkham stuff is just a wrap around that. So the tower itself has stood since Lethal was first built, which may be the reason for such extensive overhaul. Update - photo proof. Nearmap apologises for the poor quality image.

Im fairly confident it's just the angle.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Can you support that?... considering we had several reports of test runs, and photo evidence of train movement on the track - We've all seen the photos. We know the theming is shot. the mountain is run down and its a bit dusty, but come on - we have no evidence of any mechanical flaw in the system at all... -
^For those that wonder why many of us frequently point out how you can't please enthusiasts no matter what you do... So here's the thing. When you're dealing with a corporation that has multiple sites (Disney, Universal, Six Flags), they have to start somewhere. They can't build the same ride in 6 parks simultaneously as it would cost too much, as instead of making one mistake they'd make 6. The tech being developed from scratch would also cost more, rather than duplicating the successful finished product once mastered. If they had chosen to put a new first ever attraction into, say - Euro Disney, and then roll it out to the US parks later, with improvements - the whiners would carry on about how Paris got it first, and why didn't the US parks get it first since they were bigger \ older \ more original \ closer to their house. So - the US parks get most of the 'brand new' tech, but this also means in later iterations when other parks follow suit and improve, they are left looking like the poor cousin.

I recall talking to one of the operators (who i've known for a long time) not long after GL opened, and mentioned that the switch was set to off. It's been a while now, but I think the reply was basically that that switch doesn't have anything to do with whether audio is on or off. As for the charging overnight thing - of course they do, but I thought when we heard about the tech coming to the park that the trains would top up charge every time they were in the station? Wasn't there some really rapid charging technology or something?

Luna Park Sydney confirms Tango Train closure
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Considering the many locations of the Rotor, depending on what it is, it shouldn't be too hard... -
And you probably never will see it at gold coast parks. Giving a ride-load of people a queue jump ticket would cause havoc on wait times and capacity. Disney shutdowns tend to resolve very quickly as the cast members all train on how to run the mountain \ reset etc. very quickly. Some leads are trained to perform console resets without the need for a mechanic, depending on the error code, so they can reset without clearing the queue either. That, and when your ride puts through 10x the people that the GC rides do, a train full of people is less noticeable when they come back later in the day.

The unofficial back of house spy whisper is saying a second train is coming. I trust the source so i'd say it's is all but confirmed. the issue here, is whether that will improve operations, or simply allow them to reduce maintenance downtime by running one train whilst the other is in the workshop (AKA Superman). I do hope and pray that MW operations fully intend on maintaining two-train operation, and running it efficiently during busier periods... but i'm not holding my breath at this stage.

Seems these happen almost every time there is an evac - theres plenty of them although the quality on this one is one of the best i've seen. I'm still amazed how that fit such an action packed ride into such tight spaces. thanks for the share.

..and thats just it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I guess this way, we have a way to express our displeasure with someone's comment without derailing a thread. I don't really care about the reputation rating itself, so if you really feel you have to, go ahead. I think it's a good way to highlight posts that have popular info, and i'd hate for Richard to disable it because of abuse. That said, if I say something that you believe deserves a downvote - please do. I know my opinion isn't popular with everyone. I'm ok with that. See you on the other hand I know you would if i challenged you to do it. You have way too much time at work. Finally, i blame this all on @Theme Park Girl for her unintentional derailing of the thread. If a mod gets around to moving, perhaps this can move into the positive reputation game, or be deleted... either way.

Luna Park Sydney confirms Tango Train closure
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Guys we discussed this in August last year, And the post below in the same thread shows photos of the same murals were there since January of last year (and apparently before christmas: -
it's been said before, but basically LW ran two trains - a blue, and a red train. The switch track is behind the station between the brake run and the load platform. Next time you ride, look left and back as you roll through to the station (or check it out from the queue) and you'll see a separate section of track leading into the maintenance bay. As LW got on in years, and train bits became harder to get \ expensive, the park 'cobbled together' a single train from the red and blue trains, which we came to call the 'purple' train (being both red and blue). In it's later years, LW ran only one train (purple). When the new 'train' was installed as part of the Arkham re-theme, the existing hardware - bogeys etc were kept, and only the seats were changed. So the rolling stock on-track is still the same 'purple' stock previously part of LW. For them to go back to two-train operation, they would have to invest in an entirely new train - rolling stock and all, which would cost more than it did to install the Kumbak seats.

Thanks Ray. The mural looks the same as it has for quite some time...? -
DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Actually, from experience, those who know generally drop good hints about what it is, and are fairly quick to point out the reasons why an incorrect guess isn't possible. -

You forget Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook. -
If that foldback wedge hadn't been in the foreground, it would have made for an awesome promotional shot! I'm pretty sure this discussion was had a year or two ago. I made a post listing an option for every month of the year. I'm just too lazy to find it. The Winter thing is an issue - even Superhero nights wouldn't be great, as many of the superhero costumes are lycra - and no way are we getting people to do that in the dead of winter... But if you got away from the 'lycra costume' issue, I could see MW doing something with a Winter vibe - heartwarming food for the soul, costumes consisting of fur coats etc, get more value out of the snow machines from White Christmas... but I guess if they've already had a poor experience with Carnivale in the cold, they probably don't want to touch that end of the calendar again. I'd like to see something else to fill the gap though - perhaps just not dead in the middle of winter!

Have to agree here - I don't know Rappa anywhere near what I presume Joz and a lot of the others do, but he's right. You can trust him to speak his mind, and that's not a bad thing. If I throw back to the old R-C.com.au days, where new members would usually get a "welcome to the forums. Please check out the community guidelines here" - that was usually said by whichever member happened to reply first. It's been said here more recently that the group, for the most part, does manage to 'deal with' issues themselves, and it's rare that a moderator actually needs to get involved. I think Reanimated's original reply could have been less negative 'good chance of being a troll' and probably could have been more positive, but he did say please - it was a request, not a direction. Much as i've been guilty of it in the past, Rappa is right about the first impression to new members though - and probably something many members (and community leaders too ) might need to look into. #offtopic - where the hell is @Gazza ? Onto the topic. As far as shark tank, I see it as a bit of shameless cross promotion (which I have no problem with). I have no doubts that Lynton approached the production with the idea of cross promotion, and i'm sure it was carefully scripted with the "all-in" shark investment agreed upon ahead of time. The interjections and additions offered by the 'Nova' character make this fairly plain to see AFAIC. I sincerely doubt LVH needed the money, given the details of his business plan clearly articulated that after the initial 1-2 deployments of the attraction, the rest are mostly profit - and clearly with Sudden Impact's years of success. @Lynton V Harris is a member here, and known to several on a more personal level because of their involvement with the parks. I find Sharknado a bit laughable at best (I haven't seen any of them) but I have no doubts it will be just as entertaining as many of his other attractions have been. The eventual placement is interesting - he did mention the ongoing relationship with Dreamworld, and it would fit well into Ocean Parade - far better than zombies or aliens... but as mentioned above I would like to see this 'movie' linked attraction at Movie World, or Sea World given the obvious marine relationship. Whilst Pop's formatting was annoying, his content was pretty easy to ignore given the lack of relevance. RWC on the other hand was far worse as he actually contributed to relevant discussions with crap... #Mack
